There was plenty of room for the 12 of us, we weren't on top of each other, the house was beautiful although there is a few things that need repairing but overall we had a wonderful stay and will be back next year

Location is perfect, property is a beautiful old homestead however with old there is a few little issues like snakes in the area, not a issue really expect with in the main bedroom there is a large gap under the door leading outside for them to enter. Some repairs to property needed (cracks in walls, fresh paint, clean the walls) House had everything you could need, and great for large groups.

We’re so glad you enjoyed the location and space that Verona House offers, Marie. As the house is set in a country environment, there is always a small chance of encountering snakes outdoors. However, we’re pleased to share that we’ve never had any instances of snakes entering the house :)

The property was great for our group of 12 . Close to wineries and Harrigan's pub . If you need a property at the Hunter Valley I urge you to go to the 7 bedroom Verona House at Pokolbin !

Great New Years getaway

Amazing sized property with a great pool. It's located perfectly within the Hunter Valley Region with easy access to multiple wineries. Would really recommend to any group looking to get away. It made for a great New Years celebration.

Perfect group couples retreat

We all had a fabulous time at this house. It was the perfect setting for a massive couples weekend away. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms, and brilliant gathering space. It wasn't the most modern, and if I was to be quite honest it was rather eclectic in nature, but it was in a brilliant location, and totally enabled us to gather well. The beds were a perfect size, but many need mattress toppers as they are extremely hard, so I would request that the owners provide this for guests that don't like rock hard beds. We would stay there again, but my advise to others would be to take a mattress topper so you can sleep.

Wonderful venue for a group weekend away

Verona House is huge and extremely well equipped to cater for a large group: the kitchen has plenty of crockery, glassware, saucepans, cutlery & saucepans etc. plus tea, coffee etc. The lounge is large with a woodburning fire but because of its size was rather difficult to heat, especially as we chose probably the coldest weekend of the winter so far to stay there. Conversely there is no air conditioning in the house, apart from the loft room, which could make it uncomfortable in the heat of summer. The bedrooms again were rather cold, even though small oil filled radiator heaters were on when we arrived, but the king-size beds were very comfortable and had doonas and extra blankets. The showers were lovely and warm too. Unfortunately we were unable to take advantage of the enormous swimming pool but it looked lovely, although it appeared to have no shade around it if you were there in summer. We were a party of 13 adults in our 60's & 70's and had a wonderful time and would recommend Verona House to any large groups looking for a week-end getaway.

Girls weekend away

We had a brilliant weekend, weather was perfect. The pool was awesome and the location of the property was great. We spent most of our time on the back deck and in the pool. We were not expecting a lot because of all the reviews. If you read Margaret’s review from September last year it explains it all precisely. Obviously they have not taken any notice of the reviews because nothing has changed. This home has so much potential. What I would do to start with is get all new mattresses everyone complained how hard they were and the mattresses in the attic were worse with springs coming through. Not good lighting in the bathrooms. We could not get the TV to work either. On a positive note, the home has a great location we walked to the Hunter Valley Gardens and set out of the bedrooms and bathrooms were good too. Enough crockery for us all and the dining room was great to all sit together to have our meals. We did not use the lounge room as we were mostly outside on the deck. Loved the high ceilings. Unfortunately it just needs a lot of work. But this did not stop us from having a brilliant weekend with brilliant friends.

Thanks for your feedback Michele, we are glad that you enjoyed the location of the property and your weekend stay. Please note that we do take feedback seriously, and have indeed actioned some of the issues previously raised. Cornice repair in the lounge area and repairs to the back stairs are still on the agenda, as unfortunately there is a wait on trades and/or parts. Feedback regarding the mattresses has been passed on to the owners for their consideration. We are unaware of any issues with the TV, and have organised for this to be checked. If we had been notified during your stay, we could have certainly sent someone out to look at this for you.

Somewhat disappointed

The location is excellent. Everything we needed was there, however, the house is quite dilapidated, mould on the ceilings, missing cornices, doors that don’t shut, roof leaking in the conservatory and the whole place badly needs painting. While the furniture was comfortable, it was quite grubby and stained. The beds were also quite hard. There are safety issues with the verandahs and stairs leading down to the pool and barbecue areas I. E no handrails, railings and some rotting Timbers. The advertising is a bit misleading as only 4 of the bedrooms had ensuites, not all 6. I don’t think we would stay there again, unless some necessary maintenance is done.

Verona House Review

Property was just as it was advertised. Pool was amazing and the property was very clean and well equipped with essentials. Location was central to a number of wineries, which made it easy to walk too. Will definately recommend to friends and come back for another stay. Book in process was very easy.

Wonderful weekend

Although a little outdated the size and grandeur was very impressive. Loved sitting around the fire. Disappointed that the weather was too cold to take advantage of the pool. Plenty of room for everyone. Location excellent.

Girls b’day getaway

Great location and plenty of rooms for large groups. Most bedrooms have an en-suite and heaters. Good supplies and generous amounts of tea,coffee, sugar and toilet paper. There was also ample supply of wood for large fireplace. If it was warm enough we would have really enjoyed the large pool and outdoor area. Unfortunately the beds for some was were far to hard. And we feel that the surface cleanliness was good but the lounges in particular could do with a good clean or update. The location in regards to the centre of Pokolbin was amazing however the signage for the actual house was very confusing to us on arrival and taxis and wine tour buses to find us.

Thanks for your comments Michelle. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and Verona's great location. We have brought forward our regular steam clean of the lounges and our handyman is currently working on new signage to ensure once on the estate the house is easier to find.

Great stay

We had a girls weekend (ages 40+). This house caters to EVERYONE. Its a huge house with plenty of facilities to cater for all ages. Big rooms, large dining area, kitchen etc massive pool. We will be back.

Weekend getaway for 6 couples

We had a surprise 60th birthday weekend away. The property was perfect for our group. A couple of our guests had a bit of difficulty finding the house as there are two houses on the property ( as did our caterer for the Saturday night) all going to the first house. So perhaps a bit more information or better directions would be beneficial. We had a great time, will definitely come again.

Family getaway

Massive house with plenty of bedrooms with en-suites. Heaps of indoor and outdoor space and close enough to walk to everything. The place is great but could definitely do with some furniture updates, which is the only reason I assume it is so reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend to big groups
