Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. The location is just a few minutes away from Main Street, but on the edge of country. We enjoyed our evening visits from deer, which we were able to feed with corn, provided by our host. The place was well kept, clean and had most everything we needed to cook, eat with and sleep comfortably. If we visit Fredericksburg again, weâll definitely arrange to stay here.
A restful retreat in a quiet community. A well appointed cabin with snacks, juice, and tons of helpful information to learn more about Fredericksburg. I couldn't ask for a better place to stay!
Olivia and I truly enjoyed our stay, near to town and far enough out to be truly peaceful. Accommodations are excellent. The Hosts had all things in order. I did think I needed to set my alarm however; the deer were always waiting on me for those little magic yellow pellets at the back porch.
AMAZING property! Cute, clean, central location. Away enough you feel like youâre all by yourself but only 5 minutes to town. Could not have been more perfect.
This is a lovely, nicely furnished cottage that is perfect for two. If mornings with coffee, or evenings with a glass of wine spent on the back porch with deer and birds to keep you company appeals to you, youâll love this cottage. And itâs only a 5 minute drive to the historic Main Street. We loved our stay!
This small cottage is a must go to if you are looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors, yet close to Main Street if your going to shop or drink some wine. Lynn and Jerry were so kind. They are amazing hosts. Thank you thank you. We will be coming back to sit and drink my coffee and watch the deer, hummingbirds, finches, cardinals, butterflies, and owls. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
The Samples are amazing host! They thought of everything you would need. The Samples are very detail people and their hospitality is superb. We enjoyed the quietness of the property, feeding the deer and the comforts of home, and so close to Main Street! My husband and I will be visiting the Samples again.
Fantastic hosts! I had my first Cracker Jacks as a treat from their snacks collection. This couple doesn't miss a thing, including the deer corn provided for the many morning and evening visitors from the enormous field behind the house. Awesome!
Lynn is a great host! We had everything we needed and more. Check in was smooth and the property was absolutely perfect. Relaxing views from the porch were thoroughly enjoyable We will make plans to return!
This place is even better than advertised! Itâs charming and welcoming. Super clean everywhere. Lynn and Jerry have created a gem here. I definitely want to go back when we can stay longer. Wonderful inside and out.
This property is breathtaking! Youâre nestled away in a neighborhood that is only about 5 minutes from Main Street, but you feel like you are on your own private land. The deer and wildlife are AMAZING! The deer would come up within 10 feet of us (thereâs a fence) and stay for hours! The house is clean, spacious, and so cozy! Itâs updated but still has a very neat historical feel to it. The hosts are amazing and so very kind. Would definitely book this again, and several of our friends have asked for the homeâs information too. Worth it!
Wonderful cottage on beautiful property in a great location. Perfect for an anniversary getaway. Thoughtful hosts with attention to detail. Canât wait to visit again!
My husband and I traveling with our little dog Aggie were looking for a stress free m, visually interesting, and great places to eat. The Cottage and town off McKinney fit the bill and then some. The cottage is immaculate and every need has been thought of. We Will definitely come back.
This little cottage, tucked away on the edge of Fredericksburg, was a great place to enjoy the quiet, to see wildlife and still be just a short drive into town. Our host provided lots of little touches that made it so enjoyable. Thank you!
This cottage was the perfect accommodation for a Fredericksburg stay. It was very close to Main St yet still felt as though you had plenty of quiet countryside space with wildlife. It had special touches that fit the town's heritage and was clean, spacious, and detail oriented with every convenience you would need for a stay. I would highly recommend and would reserve it again if staying in this area.
A love of history compelled the owners to purchase this historic German homestead in 2007. Both owners were originally from the Panhandle of Texas, and both were lovers of antiques, so property called out to them for a full restoration, and the final step in that process was the construction of this beautiful and comfortable guest house on a private corner of the property.
Escape from your every day stresses & demands to a quiet, comfortable and luxurious Cottage with views, wildlife, and its own unique history to recharge & refresh your outlook on life! The man who built the German limestone home on this property, Jacob Neffendorf, was one of the original surveyors of the Fredericksburg townsite. Later, he returned as on of the first 120 settlers who founded Fredericksburg in May 1846. This property is on Outlot 319, as designated by the German Immigration Society, and the new owners were able to secure a Texas Historic Marker for the property in May 2012. A full copy of the research for the Marker, with photos and maps, is available for guests to enjoy in the Cottage - old world charm and history meet modern amenities and luxury on a historic German farmstead! Your visit is "contactless", and includes meal coupons!
The property contains many original components of the German farmstead - the rock-lined, hand-dug well always has water, the three-legged Aeromotor windmill is in its original location near the Cottage, a Roos block tank house with a rock tank on top supplied the two-story rock homestead with water beginning in the 1920s. The original rock lined cellar and smokehouse are on the property, too. All these unique and historic features can be enjoyed by Cottage guests, along with their spacious, luxurious quarters and their private views of the 1,500 acre ranch behind the homestead.
