Lovely cottage, comfortable. 10 for local amenities is for the Aira Falls being on the doorstep not because of any local shops/bars this is blissful isolation (5min drive into village or lovely 45min walk along lake). Yes few water pressure issues but not a problem at all. Kids even enjoyed being away from internet & phone signals for the week. Defo on our list for revisit.
Perfect place for a relaxed family holiday with dogs, away from the hustle and bustle.
Perfect place for a relaxed family holiday with dogs, away from the hustle and bustle. Located next to the famous waterfalls and with amazing hiking up the fell behind and with our own kayak we had only a short distance to go for the perfect launch spot.
Important to take your own provisions as there is no supermarket for miles.
We will definitely return.
Brilliant location next to Aira Force.
Loved being away from it all with no phone signal or WiFi.
Great space indoors and especially out.
Could do with a deep clean and the log burner sorting though - as it was very smoky and we only tried using it once.

The only slight niggle that stopped me giving 10's on everything was the shower pump which had ceased working before we got there but we were able to have a bath so not a total disaster but it would have been nice to have a working shower and the shower head in the bathroom was a bit of a poor DIY effort.
The rest of the cottage was beautifully clean and comfortable in the most amazing location apart from the road which was incredibly busy and with no footpath you did feel a bit vunerable and the fact that although being described as dog friendly the only green in the front and back yards was in the form of daffodils which are most definitly not dog friendly so strict supervision was required. We overcame the road by finding a path though the National Trust land and really did have the most amazing relaxing stay. Overall I'd give it a 9/10 and we would go back.
Sadly I have to be honest, for us the cottage is no longer worth the cost.
Sadly I have to be honest, for us the cottage is no longer worth the cost. We have been to this same cottage for 3yrs now and sadly we are looking for another cottage for our trip next year. The owner needs to spend some money on this place, itâs quite basic in comparison to other cottages available so weâve realised itâs solely the location that keeps us coming back. Absolutely perfect location, love it for that. But for the cost I think we should maybe expect more from it.
The cottage would benefit from a new bed in the master bedroom, and really just money spent on it giving it a lot of TLC to freshen the place up. Maybe a deep clean twice a year too?
Donât be too put off, this is a barn conversion after all, so itâs not modern, spotless, etc. Itâs a lovely cottage in the most beautiful location. We love the walks (up the mountain behind this cottage was a highlight for us!) the aira force walk, steamer to pooley bridge, motorboat on ullswater lake from Glenridding... there is lots to do from here, and only a short drive to Penrith or Keswick too. Also if you do stay here please be warned the hot water is crazy hot when you run the bath.
Would love to revisit the place in the future to find that money has been spent on it to bring it back to high standard. Itâs quite sad to see it even more run down year after year.
