Fantastic little cottage in a quiet quaint village which has a superb pub selling delicious meals with super friendly staff. Cottage has absolutely everything you need and owners left a superb welcome package, which was delicious. Would definitely go again and would recommend to friends and family (have actually done so already)
mooie cottage perfect voor twee personen alles was aanwezig.
Heerlijk rustig in de cottage zelf was alles perfect niets te kladen goede locatie om overal naar toe te kunnen gaan en de pub was hooguit 5 minuten lopen.
First impreasions are good, a nice welcome touch of bread, cheese, milk and some homemade chocolates. Which after an 8 hour on the road day from Skye was welcome.
The cottage is warm, comfortable and you need for nothing, all kitchen items are clean and plentiful.
The sofa is comfortable and there is a nice information pack detailing the surrounding area.
The bedroom is large and the bed was comfortable for me, the wife said it was a little soft but we slept well.
Now onto the main letdown, the bathroom in particular the shower. Although the water was warm and plentiful there is an alarming amount of black mould on the outside of the unit. It actually made us feel a little nauseous to look at. Theres obviously a few leaks which have not been fixed or cleaned to an accetable level. We have pictures but wont post.
If this can be sorted with a new unit then we will definitely be back, the area is beautiful and the local pub is welcoming. You are 10 mins from Carlisle and the outdoors is on the doorstep.
We will be back as its a good stop off point for Scotland from where we live. IF the bathroom shower is sorted.
Thanks.
Beautiful cottage and garden, spotlessly clean with everything required to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. Although on a main road we were not aware of the traffic. Lovely, thoughtful welcome pack of delicious cob loaf, butter, cheese and heavenly local chocolates. Had a superb lunch in The Duke of Cumberland as the village pub was only open in the evening. Lovely walks around and about. Visited Talkin Tarn for a walk around the lake which has a tea room serving excellent cakes. Hadrians Wall and Gelt Woods all within easy reach. Would thoroughly recommend. Many thanks

Great cottage in a lovely location for a relaxing break. Good value and a nice touch having some basic provisions in the cottage - milk, bread, cheese and chocolates.
We had an excellent time and would wholeheartedly recommend Blackhill Cottage. Oh and its dog friendly too....
