Beautiful and quiet

We stayed over Christmas and it was just as we had hoped. A lovely bright footage with a warm wood burning stove. Plus all the consciences. Easy communication and entry to the property. Would happily return.

peace and tranquility in Shropshire

The property is beautiful and the location stunning. It is ideal for nature lovers and those longing for plenty of outdoor exercise. The lodge is cosy and welcoming. it is in a quiet location yet with easy access to local amenities and small market towns, The lodge is near running water, but securely gated . In my opinion it is ideally suited to one or two couples or families with pre teens. curling up in front of the log burner with a glass of wine made a great end to days filled with activity.

A lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting. The beds were very comfortable and there was always enough hot water for the shower and bath. The heating was efficient as was the wood burner. Lovely quirky cottage, well placed for visiting the many places of interest in the area. On arrival, the cottage was exceptionally clean and well presented. Loved the layout of it. The enclosed patio area was perfect for containing the dog and he had also had a great time exploring the orchard. Would love to come and stay again and use the wood burner. Would highly recommend! What a wonderful find! Beautiful part of the country and absolutely gorgeous cottage. We’d love to say that it was ‘home from home’ but it’s a lot nicer than our home! Everything has been thought of and it is all finished off to such a high standard. Ample supplies of essentials and very thoughtful Welcome boxes for both ourselves and Lulu the dog! Lots of great walks in the surrounding areas and everywhere is very dog friendly. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing few days, we will definitely be returning.

Lovely cottage. Pretty part of Shropshire near various towns and places to see/visit. Went to several National Trust properties nearby. Also visited Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Stokesay Castle, Shrewsbury,Church Stratton. Weather very mixed but mild as is usual end of September.

Have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and non have impressed as much as this one. The welcome pack on arrival was the best ever with a personalised message just for us. Our dog also had her own welcome basket complete with doggie treats blankets, drinking and eating bowl and even a dog friendly walk book for the area. The attention to detail and the facilities could not be faulted. The tourist information leaflets usually left to sort through where all categorised and sorted into relevant groups and all up to date, made it really easy to sort through when going out. Walks where also left in a folder with recommendations and pointers on each one together with the local maps of the area. Outstanding cottage in a beautiful area.

Walkmill Lodge is an exceptional holiday cottage. Situated in a delightful rural location.The cottage boasts lovely furnishings and very comfortable beds.The very secure outside terraced area is a bonus for dogs and for outside eating/relaxing when the sun is out. There is a large lawn/orchard to the front.The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and storage cupboards. I can highly recommend Walkmill Lodge to those looking for a quiet, peaceful break

We had a week at Walkmill Lodge travelling to various recommended places for our first time in Shrop

We had a week at Walkmill Lodge travelling to various recommended places for our first time in Shropshire. For walkers there are a host of great routes, the closest being the Stiperstones, for historical architecture enthusiasts Ludlow is a must, Bishops Castle and Much Wenlock all within easy reach of the Lodge. The Lodge itself was very well kitted out with all that you would want however the double bed was soft and of standard size which was a problem for us being used to King size both at home and in hotels. Also we could not understand why the main bedroom was not where the lovely French style patio doors were (the singles room), it would have been lovely to throw open those doors of a bright early sunny morning. The local shop was friendly and adequate for basic needs although one takes ones life in their hands getting to it along the road. The closest pub, The Inn on the Green pub was pretty ghastly however the The Crown Inn in Wentmor (up the hill) was better with a selection of ales and typical 'pub grub'. We had a good time with our dog however the weather was good so lots of outdoor stuff, been a different story perhaps in wet weather. Would I recommend Walkmill Lodge? Yes. Would I go there again? No, we would probably go to somewhere like Church Stretton being less remote and with more facilities.

The property was light and airy, clean and well equipped with high quality Faith in Nature shower gel and hand wash provided. We made good use of the exceptional array of maps and guides and were impressed with the selection of books and DVDs. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the Egyptian cotton bed linen, a proper home from home. We also enjoyed looking at the artwork in all the rooms. The location was peaceful with a lovely outlook over the adjoining orchard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property.

We had a lovely stay in Walkmill Lodge. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and really well laid out. We spent more time in the cottage than we would normally but it was so comfortable and cosy, it was a pleasure to do so. There was everything we could want, including walk books and maps, an excellent library of books and videos and in the kitchen there was even a pastry brush. What more could you ask for! We loved it there. The only thing missing was a fabulous view, but I'm just looking for something to be critical about now.

We are retired people, and visited this cottage in March.

We are retired people, and visited this cottage in March. The weather was warm, dry and mostly sunny and we were within easy reach of several interesting towns, beauty spots and National Trust properties. Drives around the area, and gentle walks gave us varied and lovely scenery. The cottage was warm, cosy and comfortable. Plenty of information was provided about local walks, amenities etc., as well as a good selection of local literature. Overall, a quiet and relaxing holiday, which suited us very well.
