Hello, We're sorry if the cottage didn't meet your expectations. We thought we were realistic in our description. It was renovated with strict architectural constraints due to the fact that it's over 200 years old, built before 1799. We had to comply with the rules imposed by the Architects of Historic Monuments, which allowed renovations without modifying the facades or making major alterations. This cottage, where my wife's grandmother lived until 1998, didn't have any amenities. Imagine: no electricity, no toilet, no wood-burning fireplace. We had to add more modern comforts without distorting one of the oldest houses in the village, which has survived the centuries and withstood the bombings of World War II. It's true that it's not particularly functional like a new house. Air conditioning in the main rooms is necessary to dehumidify the old stone walls in the bedrooms; it is not necessary. Normandy is very humid, with temperatures averaging 16°C (60°F), so air conditioning is a luxury only offered by hotels in Normandy. The Cottage offers our guests the charm of the old world for a few days' experience in a farm setting on the edge of a small country road.

Thank you for your feedback on the website; your compliments are much appreciated. Indeed, there is no air conditioning upstairs because Normandy does not usually experience such hot temperatures. Your stay took place during a heatwave, the highest ever recorded at 42°C outside. If this were to happen again with global warming, we would install air conditioning in the rooms. I hope you will be able to return for a future stay.
