The property was in a quiet neighborhood. The house needed a little more cleaning. The screened in front porch had a lot of spiderwebs, so we didnât sit out on it. Thought it was closer to water. Close to beaches and good restaurants.
Was looking for a pet friendly cottage which we found! Great location and the amenities were perfect!
Owners went above and beyond. Look forward to staying there again!
The cottage was clean and exactly as pictured. We were close to Darien and were able to go to the Blessing of the Fleet events. We were able to relax and enjoy!
Pleasant one-bedroom house with beautiful oaks towering overhead, close to marshes. Appreciated the remote location while easily being able to take advantage of parks, islands, wildlife refuges and restaurants when we wished.
Property was exactly as described, very clean, peaceful and quiet. Our dogs were welcome and enjoyed the screened porch. Kitchen and bath had everything we needed.
The pictures don't do this cottage justice! It's nestled beneath big beautiful oaks! You can smell the salt from the marsh just behind you and enjoy the deer who freely roam around! It was a great place for our 3 month stay!
Everything was amazing! The home was beyond perfect, so comfortable and it was just as described. It was easy to find and was convenient to what we needed. The home was clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were very quick to respond, very accommodating and were really helpful. Definitely worth booking! We had a great visit and we will definitely come back to stay again!
It was a nice out of the way spot that was super quiet. Wish could have stayed longer. Will admit Google doesn't make it easy to find but don't know that's the renter's fault ;) Thank you for everything.
The cottage was small, but very efficient and had everything we needed, though a few more water glasses would be a good addition. The grounds are spectacular with huge live oak trees. We found Pileated Woodpeckers, in addition to others and Yellow Throated Warblers up in the canopy. We had Chuck-Will's-Widow calling in the early morning. It is close to the State Wildlife Management Area just south of Darien, and about 40 minutes south of the Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge.
Quiet little guest cottage located on some acreage that adjoins the main house and workshop. Its nicely located close to fishing, restaurants, boat ramps and a quick drive to historical locations. We were hopeful that we would have a view of the marsh, however there was none from the cottage. A short walk back to the main house (providing the family gives the OK) there is an overlook for a great sunset view. Also a short walk for addition beautiful views along the quiet road. Small house provided everything we needed, full kitchen & bath, 1 bedroom and a pull out sofa or enough room for a twin sized air mattress (which we brought for our kid). TV has a DVD player - i mention this because we did not pay attention to that and wish we would've brought some movies. We were only at the cabin at night as we were exploring during the day. Great place for dogs - lots of room to play. We really enjoyed it. (We stayed the week between Christmas and New Years - needed the heat, worked great!)
Only stayed one night as Place was dusty and moldy smelling and seemed as though it had not been stayed in for awhile. So lost a night I paid for. Had to keep opening doors to air it out. Cobwebs in kitchen and bathroom and no toilet paper except 1/4 roll. Is a great little place near Sapelo Island in the woods near marsh. Just got me sneezing and coughing which would resolve when I left the home. Unfortunately it is the only unsatisfying VRBO stay I have ever had. I reserved 48 hrs ahead of my arrival and perhaps was not enough time for owners to air out and dust and prepare for guests.
Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Jan, the manager. She took me to the cottage via golf cart escort and invited me to a spontaneous low country boil the neighborhood was doing that night, so I wouldn't have to cook, so sweet. The cottage was clean, cozy, had a great kitchen fully stocked with a gas stove, beautiful views out the back sliding glass doors to the gorgeous old oaks with hanging Spanish moss--the view from my "office" while staying there several months. Bikes provided which allowed me to ride everywhere throughout the community, including to the Sapelo Island ferry. The town of Darien, famous for its shrimping, is nearby where you can buy your groceries, along with waterfront restaurants. I met neighbors that will be long time friends, spent many Saturday nights at Bill's fires, enjoying the warmth of the people and wine! The owner's were staying at their home nearby and it was lovely getting to know them. Jan's response to any needs was professional and immediate. I plan to return to this haven of serenity and beauty many times more. Thanks everyone for your Southern hospitality!
My wife and I were looking for something off the beaten path but still within proximity of things to do. The Oaks of Eden cottage at the Blue Heron Inn was perfect. With a kitchen, sitting room, bedroom & bath, it just what we needed and nothing more or less.
It was awesome to go for a quick run in the morning and then come back to coffee and watching the day come alive from the screened in porch. I was treated to deer, skinks, frogs and some of the most gorgeous golden orb weavers. Fear not, the porch is well sealed and you can observe all the beauty safely behind a screen.
We did day trips to Jekyll & St. Simon's Islands. The ferry to Sapelo Island is literally a mile from the cottage door step. Plenty to do but we also enjoyed our solitude with down time chilling in the cottage.
Plenty of good restaurants in Darien as well as the Fish Dock just north of the property.
Jan was incredible and helped me get a beautiful bouquet of flowers that was waiting our arrival. My wife was pleasantly surprised and loved them. Jan was always quick to respond to any questions or inquiries. She even shipped me my pillow that I forgot.
To sum up, if you want to experience all that coastal Georgia has to offer, but still want your space, the Oaks of Eden is the place for you.
This is our second time staying at Oaks of Eden. It is well-named - the live oaks at the property and forest nearby are spectacular and full of birds. The cottage is very comfortable, laid out well, everything one would need is there, and the back porch is screened. The only poorly functioning item was the coffee maker, which took more than an hour to brew a pot of coffee.
We enjoyed our two month stay (Jan-Feb) so much that we already booked it for next year. The owners are fantastic. The property is very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of places to walk, ride bike and just enjoy the marsh. Close to Darien, Brunswick and Jekyll Island is about a 45 minute drive at the most. We met a lot of wonderful people and made friendships that I hope last for years.
Oaks of Eden was a cute little cottage nestled within the Live Oak trees and natural foliage. We found it very convenient for the two of us and our little dog. I enjoyed reading a book on the screen porch while my husband watched TV, both with a feeling of being secluded. We found lots of yard and side roads to walk our dog. The cottage was small, but kitchen & bathroom were efficiently set up. Bed and couch were both comfortable with good linens. We appreciated all the switches being labeled and the friendly guide book for suggestions on sightseeing and eating! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Being from the northeast we spend our winters on the Georgia coast enjoying the milder climate. This little cottage is on our compound in a beautiful setting. The cottage is a perfect getaway for a couple or small family. Guests are welcome to follow the path to the sundeck overlooking the marsh. We enjoy the varied wildlife, abundance of birds and hope you will too.
This new and modern cottage and location is perfect if you enjoy mild winters, marsh views, quiet neighborhood and great seafood. Wonderful walking, bicycling and Kayaking area. Fantastic birding area with over 300 migrating species.
Vista across the marsh, wildlife, quiet, secluded location it's the perfect place to relax. Friendly small town Darien is packed full of history and nature.
