We enjoyed our stay very much. Nice cottage with all you need for a comfortable stay. The owners are lovely and friendly and on hand if you need anything. We were a little bit shocked at the cost to run the storage heaters for the week. An addition of a wood burning stove would really help with this, although there is an allowance of the first ÂŁ20 of electricity used to help. Lovely area with lots to see and do. Would recommend. Thank you both for a lovely stay.
A very comfortable and warm house,we all enjoyed ourselves,4 adults and the dogs!Joan and her husband were very friendly,we were welcomed by Joan on our arrival. It was hsrd to.leave as we were settled and comfortable. Another lovely part of Dumfries and Galloway. We enjoyed the animals on the farm. Thanks again for making us feel welcome, the welcome tray of goodies also .Happy New Year.
Cannot recommend this beautifully located, spotlessly clean cottage enough. The owners Joan and George have the balance of being present and approachable, yet not at all intrusive completely on point.
The farm is beautifully maintained, with clearly well looked after animals. The house has everything you need and more, with everything thought of.
Amazing places to visit locally, to suit all age ranges. There is also a Lidl, Tesco and Morrisions a short drive away.
I can also confirm the WiFi was updated during our stay and supported five devices easily (all at the same time).
The only two things we were not aware if prior is that there is not direct access from the property to the garden, but it is an easy and short walk around. There are also chairs to sit out the front. The garden also does not have a gate, so we were not able to let the dog off lead (this is more about our over enthusiastic collie) so just something to be aware of, but it did not detract from our enjoyment of the cottage at all and to be honest we preferred to walk the dog round to the animals anyway.
We all slept well, again bedrooms have everything you need. and the lounge was a great size for our party of 5 and a dog.! Both bathrooms were also well appointed and again spotless. Amazing views! I could just go on and on. The only negative of our stay was the depression of having to return home at the end! .
Excellent property, spotlessly clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable, in an excellent location for touring this area, with so much to see and do. We had everything we needed for our weeks stay.
The owners were lovely, very helpful, and nothing was to much trouble for them. once we had settled in, the owners left us to our own devices, but were there if we needed them.
This was a beautiful rural hideaway cottage, which was spotless on arrival and the owners were lovely people who did everything possible to make us feel most welcome. The accommodation was excellent, warm and easy to commute to the town centre, beaches and beautiful woodland/country walks. Beautifully maintained and deserves a 4 star rating. Our dig loved it too. We will definitely be back!
Lovely cosy cottage, plenty big enough for 3 adults and two children. Nice touches of flowers , tea , coffee and biscuits on arrival. Well appointed especially the kitchen as we like to cook from scratch. Plenty of things to do in the area if youâre happy to drive and be outdoors. Our group loved mountain biking in the Galloway Forest. Friendly hosts who were obviously experienced in having guests .
We were made to feel welcome the moment we arrived. The scenery and the animals were brilliant. Glenwhan gardens are a must which are just down the road.
The cottage has every thing you need and at night there is the bats and owl
We would definitely go back We enjoyed it so much
Wanted peace and quiet, got it. If we could give the property more than 5 stars we would. The property was exactly as described. The pictures do not show how spacious the cottage actually is. On arrival everything was exceptionally clean, and the kitchen was fully equipped which made our cooking everyday so easy. Very comfortable cottage. Liked it so much we have already booked for next year. Thank you Joan for making our stay so pleasurable.
Very pleasantly surprised on arrival by size of the house, bigger than it looks in the photos. Spotlessly clean, felt very safe, with lovely thoughtful touches. Very welcoming.
There is a railway line opposite to the house but the impact was minimal to the peaceful location. Weather wasn't great but the house was still cosy.
The property was spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The surroundings were quiet. ..on a farm. The property owners were early friendly and accommodating. A lovely stay for a quiet break away.
We enjoyed our first visit to Dairy Cottage and would happily return again in the future. Joan was a lovely host and we enjoyed chatting on arrival and departure.
The cottage was well equipped and very pleasant to stay in. We found the beds to be particularly comfortable. The living room is large and you donât feel as if you are all on top of each other, with space on the floor for children to play.
The back garden is large, really good for both playing in and also sitting reading enjoying the sounds of the countryside. You hear faint noise from the A75, but it is not annoying at all.
It is also nice to be able to see the sea from the property and to stroll around the grounds looking at the animals.
I would only highlight 2 things for awareness before staying. Both bathrooms are downstairs, so once you reach a certain age, you will have a short walk during the night ;) Also we found that the internet did not really work in the cottage. The wifi is boosted from the ownerâs property a short distance away and doesnât really penetrate the thick walls. Ideally you want to be out and about so itâs not a big deal, but for kids itâs good to just bear that in mind. When ours needed some downtime on their screens, they either sat outside if it was dry and warm enough, or in the car to get reception.
We were already familiar with the general area from previous breaks, but had not stayed in Dunragit before. It was lovely to visit the Glenwhan Gardens for the first time. From Dunragit, you can just âshimmyâ across the A75 to start heading for Sandhead or Portpatrick, you donât need to go through Stranraer.
All in all, a lovely cottage at a fair price thatâs well worth a visit and we would happily return again.
We have experienced a wonderful holiday enjoying beautiful views in peaceful surroundings. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with a lovely welcome package. We had everything we needed.
Lovely quiet cottage. Joan made us feel very welcome. The cottage is tastfully furnished. Would deinately return another time.

Lovelly cottage, Friendly people and Great Area!
Lovely cottage on working farm with great views across to Luce Bay and dog friendly, (although very clean and tidy if you don't have dogs). Our first visit to the area and it was amazing. Very friendly people everywhere, deserted beaches and forests in the hills, no parking charges and no traffic on the beautiful roads. This was a low cost short notice break, but we will be back and happy to recommend this cottage. Richard
Very clean, comfortable house. Spacious, well equipped, comfy beds, lovely toiletries provided.
We had a fantastic holiday in Dairy Cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The farm is neat and well kept and the garden nice and big for the children to play football. The Alpacas on the farm are very cute. The cottage has good views of Glenluce Bay. It was a great location for visiting all around the area. Stranraer is only 15 minuets away and even going down the Mull or to Wigtown didnât take long at all. The cottage was great, and we didnât lack anything. We would definitely visit again and were sad to leave.
Lovely welcome from George and Joan who are incredibly knowledgeable about area. Exceptionally clean and well equipped, spacious property. Lovely to look out on the various animals. Quiet location, handy for the A75. Plenty to see in the area.
Highly recommended.
