A Welcome Break
We made a very last minute decision to take a weeks holiday. There was a storm forecast but Kent looked to be avoiding the worst of it so we decided to head for somewhere along the coast, waiting for the very last forecast before making our final decision. After a quick internet search we found Tides Reach and thought it would suit our needs. We werenât wrong ! I phoned Keeper Cottages on the Thursday to make a booking for the next day, this was a requirement as you cannot book at such short notice online. The booking was seamless and everyone I dealt with was extremely nice and helpful. They even emailed me with a local weather update so we could be prepared. The cottage itself was in a great location, very quiet but with in easy reach of the town which has plenty of choice for eating and drinking, and for public transport links to other areas. There was no issue with the on road parking. Tides Read has basically everything you require for your break, and is comfortable and clean. Deal and the surrounding area has so much to offer. We had been to the area before so we had already visited the castles of Deal, Walmer and Dover. This time was mainly walking along the coast and on various trails. We got the train to Dover and walked the coastal path back, taking in the Fan Bay Deep Shelter. Very interesting. We also walked Sandwich coastal path to Ramsgate ( the tunnels tour there is also to be recommended , done on our previous visit). We returned to Sandwich to do a self guided history walk. We will certainly return to Kent in the future and would have no hesitation in booking Tides Reach.
