The Boathouse is a lovely and newly renovated property on the beach in Grand Marais. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our vacation stay! The property manager is very responsive!
We so enjoyed our stay. We always cook in rentals and this one was well-appointed with everything youâd need. My kids loved the backyard area on the water and we spent all our evenings out there. We also appreciated the space and thought put into the extras like bedding, throw blankets, and games.
Everything was excellent. Except for the picture in the listing of the beachfront. The beachfront is actually all very large boulders, hard to access the harbor. And there was a mouse. Otherwise very nice place, great location and great town!
This was a very reasonably priced vacation home. It was clean and had all the necessary conveniences. It had a wonderful medicine cabinet in the bathroom, which was stocked with everything you could need. I think all they were missing was an enema. Very nice location. Very quiet. There is a restaurant and gift store right across the street. You can easily walk out to the lighthouse and find agates on the beach. Couldâve used a kayak or a canoe otherwise fantastic place.
We started our exploration of the Upper Peninsula Michigan from Grand Marais. The house was well situated and walkable to Lake Superior. Easy to explore the western side of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park or go out to Whitefish point, Tahquamenon Falls as well as Blind Sucker State Park. The house had a very comfortable feel with a well stocked kitchen. It was very blustery so we didnât get to use the fire pit or grill. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful views, close to Lake Superior. Was able to watch the Northern Lights from the beach. . Perfect location for day tripping to Munising, Pictured Rocks, Two Hearted River, Tahquamenon Falls, Crisp Point Lighthouse, Sable Falls and Sable Point Lighthouse . We will be back. Walked downtown Grand Marais for dinner and breakfast.
Staying in this lovely waterfront home was truly memorable. We especially loved the view from the living room! The home was spacious, very comfortable, and the area was peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped, and we appreciated the few basics provided, like coffee and oil.I think with a few minor adjustments, this could definitely be a 5-star home. The outdoor areas need some upkeep â the garage doors need cleaning, the yard needs weeding, and the artificial reef is falling apart, with artificial flowers scattered on the ground. The house rules posted on the fridge are outdated (they mention firewood and a toaster that werenât there). The table runner was dirty, and one of the bed sheets was worn/torn. Also, no shampoo or conditioner was provided. These were all minor issues individually, but they added up. At this price point, one does expect a higher standard. Regardless, we had a lovely vacation and we are grateful that we were able to spend time in this special home.
This home was a perfectly cozy spot for the 6 of us and had amazing view of the water. We loved to see the colorful leaves across the water and to hear the crashing waves from the living room. It was a perfect spot to walk into town as well as to the point of Grand Marais. WIFI connection was not great, but worked enough. Overall, would recommend!
We book an annual vacation with our adult children and their spouses every summer and I've wanted to stay in Grand Marais for years after a quick trip to Sable Falls and Dunes years ago. While somewhat isolated, the town offers great restaurants, great coffee (find Stella) and a virtual wonderland of outdoor activities. We searched for agates and Yooperlights, fished for trout, hiked the dunes, and watched nightly sunsets over Superior and moonrises over the harbor. The house is beautiful and comfortable with a private beach on the harbor that our grandson loved. Check-in was super easy and the owner was immediately available when the microwave died. She had a new one delivered within 2 days. The master bed was a bit soft for my liking, but that's a person thing. Others will love it. On demand hot water meant that 7 adults always had a hot shower when they wanted one. We can't wait to return- we're all going through withdrawal! By the way, check Fletchy's Resort across the street for mammoth cinnamon buns that melt in your mouth. Just writing this makes me miss it more.
The house needs a better house cleaning service as the throw carpets and the bathroom was not clean. The shower needed a good scrubbing and the throw rugs in the bathroom were dirty. In the rooms throughout the house I would suggest removing all the throw rugs (shabby and dirty) and just keep the wood floor clean. Some of the rugs were curled on the corners and a tripping hazard. The oven was filthy and the pots and pans were not safe to use since the handles were rickety. To use the toaster you had to hold down the lever to get it to work. The coffee pot had a film on the inside of the pot. The refrigerator also needed to be cleaned. In addition, there was a lot of limbs and debris in the yard between the house and the rocks along the water. Many large limbs were on the deck.
Grand Marais has always been one of my favorite areas to visit in the UP. It has been years since I have been there and very little has changed! The area is quiet, peaceful. The house was perfect!
Will rent again!
I hadn't been to Grand Marais since I was a child and this experience made me want to return much sooner. The house was great, and the view of the bay was fantastic and so relaxing. The town was a 1-2 minute drive and we were able to do many sightseeing adventures that were all within 1-2.5 hrs away. I would highly recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Grand Marais and this property was perfect for our small group! Plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies as well as comfortable beds and furniture. The house has plenty of space for a few more than just our group of 3 as well. The location right on the sand and water was very nice, and a short walk to Lake Superior was easy. Grand Marais was very convenient to visiting Pictured Rock National Park, Whitefish Point, Tuqhemenon Falls, Munising and Marquette. We didn't have the best weather for our trip but it didn't stop us from exploring and enjoying the UP! Definitily have to visit Miners Pasties in Munising and Jean & Kay's for pasties in Marquette. Yum!! The UP was such an amazing place to visit and we can't wait to plan a return trip someday. We would definitely stay at this property again.
Beautiful cabin, nice and spacious with great amenities. Lovely deck and sand right off the back deck. Great spot to sit with the bonfire over the bay. Right close to downtown action and a short walk to the lighthouse point for sunset and a sandy beach!
