The localisation was perfect : 30min from the beautiful beaches and close to the city of Ragusa (and the situ of Scicli) which is very nice. The house is perfect for 6people and there is a big living-room. The garden and the swimming pool is very nice. Kitchen tools can be improved. There a dishwasher that works very well. The gas cooler is perfect. The beds are comfortable. The house is cosy and with nice fournitures. It lacks some shelves in the principal bedroom. Globally the house is great. We had a great time there. From the airport of Catania, it takes 1:30 to get to the house. You can also visit the Villa Romana sel Casale in piazza armerina and Syracusa which both are 1:30 from the house. Have fun in Sicily.
We stayed a week in the villa and had a very nice time. The host, Lucio, is great and was very helpful!
As we were traveling with a baby, it is worth pointing out that to reach Ragusa Ibla you need a car. The walk path is an overgrown stair with no lights. Also, we had 2 cars which easily fits in the parking space at the villa.
Because of a scheduling mixup, we stayed next door at Casa Tua, Luciano's other property. The pool is beautiful and the yard is carefully maintained. The outdoor kitchen and dining area area great, as is the big covered porch and bathtub upstairs with a view of the mountains. Bedrooms are comfortable and very clean. It feels like a rural and beautiful spot and is very quiet but for the occasional rooster crow, which is nice. The public stairs across the road that lead to the old town of Ragusa Ibla is a huge plus - the stairs are steep so they aren't for everyone, but in 10-15 minutes of walking, you can be in a fantastic old city with lots of great restaurants and cafes. I Banchi was a restaurant favorite for a nice meal out in the town. La Capinera is a restaurant down the road that is beautiful and has lots of nice outdoor and indoor seating, but it is along a busy road with no sidewalks, so you need to drive though it's only 5 minutes away. The house feels a bit spare and could use a few more homey touches (lamps, coffee tables, etc.) and some basic goods that we had to purchase (soaps, laundry detergent). There's also a tennis court in the back of the property that is in a beautiful spot but could be better maintained if the host wanted to make that a feature of the place. We swam and drank wine on our porch and walked to long, delicious dinners in town every day and had a great visit. Luciano is a very responsive and friendly host.
An expensive villa and not without its faults. Our stay was okay but we would not go back.
The garden is tidy and very private. There are only two sunbeds for six guests. One of the plastic chairs broke as soon as we sat on it. There is a big wooden table outside. It is rough with a risk of splinters but okay with a cloth over it. The pool is very small indeed. Guests are expected to clean it themselves. There is a parasol but no stand for use on the patio. There were no outside cushions as shown in the website photos. There are good lights in the garden and in the pool so it is very nice to sit outside.
The villa is very clean. The beds are comfortable, king size with adequate bedding. The bedrooms have fans but are cramped and the furniture is poor. Bedside tables are metal and going rusty. The wardrobes are very basic. The bed in the front bedroom is very loose and creaky. The windows do not have mosquito screens, just loose net curtains which insects get can easily get around. There is air conditioning only in the living room.
There was plenty of hot water. The shower nearest the front door leaks into the second bedroom and makes a puddle on the floor.
The living room is fine, large and spacious with a lovely fully-opening window to the garden. There is no lock on this window, just some cabin hooks, so if someone broke the glass it would be easy to enter the villa. Be careful when closing the front door as the interior handle comes off in your hand.
Toilet rolls are the only basic materials provided. No washing up liquid, cloths, cleaning materials, laundry liquid or dishwasher tablets, and only eight pegs for laundry. We were warned of this in advance, but it is not expensive to provide a sufficient quantity of these basic items for each set of visitors, especially as guests canât readily buy them in the quantities needed just for a holiday. The dishwasher had no salt or rinse aid in it so did not clean items properly. There are adequate cooking utensils and pans. There is not enough crockery for six people, a mix of odd glasses and some cheap, light cutlery.
My family and I stayed here for a week. Prior to arrival Lucio was more than happy to provide information about the area as well as during our stay and answer all of my random questions. The villa is difficult to find but once you know where itâs easy. We used la Capinera restaurant which is on same road for the sat nav. The villa is located in a rural location which is very peaceful there are a few other properties in the lane. As itâs rural there are the odd animals that visit such as cats and geckos. The villa is very secure and very spacious and very clean. There are 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with showers bedding and towels provided . The beds are very comfortable and the villa has been decorated to a high standard. The large living room/kitchen has everything you need inc a dishwasher kettle cooker fridge freezer. There are plenty of pots/pans/plates cutlery etc. the villa has a large garden which my boys enjoyed playing football in. A good size swimming pool. There is a BBQ and covered storage area, plenty of sun loungers and chairs as well as play equipment for smaller children and a parking for a large car. The city of Ragusa can be reached by car 2 mins away or by walking up 200 steps (there is no hand rail)
Ragusa is a lovely city which has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. It was a great base to visit Noto, Catania, Modica, Syracuse which were 30-60 mins drive. There are a few supermarkets to choose from. We eat at La Capinera which is in same road but not safe to walk to. I would definitely recommend lovely food and reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend the villa and would stay again if I was in the area. Thanks Lucio !
This villa isnât too easy to find, thereâs a very tight turn off the road and then you go under a railway bridge. It feels really tight but thereâs plenty of room.
When you arrive at the property the bedrooms (lots of coat hangers but some are very high up, my 5â1â wife couldnât reach) and bathrooms are OK, though we needed fans to help keep cool to sleep. The property really comes into its own once you leave the sleeping area. The living/kitchen area is large (and air conditioned, though we didnât find it needed it) and the glass doors slide open to really let you into the outside, which is spectacular. The large garden is completely walled with the car parked on a short drive behind a gate. The pool is smallish but big and deep enough for a couple of teenagers to have a great time and for adults to rest on a lilo or two when theyâve finished. Thereâs a brick barbecue and a pizza oven if youâre feeling up for it.
There a few minor quibbles, most of which have been mentioned in other reviews. It needs more plates and glasses. We bought some disposable ones. We went at the end of the season and the outdoor furniture was getting tired.
Itâs a good spot to explore from. Ibla is very pretty and accessible by a set of stairs if youâre feeling (very) energetic. Unfortunately this was becoming overgrown but may be better during mid summer. Local restaurants are nice, Iâd certainly recommend the posh sausage roll starter in La Capinera near the railway station. You can hear the trains in the villa but we werenât bothered by the noise.
The beach at the Marina was very nice with beautiful sand, not crowded and clean.
The locals were good with Covid precautions, especially in restaurants.
All in all a nice, relaxing place to stay with a great garden and nice pool.
The kids were very happy that the TV had Netflix and the WiFi was fine.
We loved staying in this beautiful villa with great garden and pool. The location was ideal for visiting many local attractions by car and Ragusa on foot (albeit up some steep steps). The local La Capinera restaurant was fantastic too; our preferred choice if not using the outdoor bbq at the villa! The villa was presented perfectly clean and spotless and we were met by Luciano who was on hand to assist during our stay. We felt the villa would benefit from more outdoor seating / a decent outdoor table and some additional glasses - but was nevertheless a great place to stay and we may well return. Also appreciated a locked and private parking area but glad for a small hire car down a narrow access route! Thanks for having us Luciano!!
We enjoyed five days at Arancelli. The accommodation was pleasant and well maintained. The owner was very helpful and easily contactable. He went out of his way to ensure we were happy and had everything we needed. The pool and outdoor cooking area were a great bonus.
Excellent property in pleasant surroundings. Need a car. Excellent hosts.
Delightful weekâs stay in easy reach of major regional sites. Plenty of great eating venues nearby in Ragusa Ibla and just outside - eg La Bettula, La Capineri, Algli Archi to name but three. Lucio was a charming, friendly and obliging host. Ragusa Ibla, Syracuse, Modica upper and lower, Scicli, Noto - all wonderful. Rugged hills, winding roads, typical Italian drivers and superb food and wine. A great holiday.
Wir wÀren gerne noch lÀnger geblieben.
The property is in a rural location but ideally situated for visiting the local town of Ragusa.
There is private parking and the garden and surrounding area is also very private.
There is a trainline that is very close to the house and it does wake you up early in the morning.
The hosts were very pleasant and only to pleased to help with any issues that you may have, even booking us a taxi. The house was clean and tidy when we arrived, however there were not enough towels or coffee cups for a group of 4! This was soon resolved after a call to the charming Carla.
The kitchen area is very small and basic, but with a little effort you can just about prepare a meal - the bbq area is brilliant.
The lounge area is large, and the outside terrace is very nice, but again there is not enough furniture for 4 people, let alone 6.
The pool is very pleasant, but was not cleaned at all during our 6 night visit - quite disappointing.
We had an absolutely wonderful week stay in the villa. The villa is more than we imagined or photos could show! The bedrooms all have a bathroom each which is such a bonus. The whole villa is really well kept and clean!
Luciano and his wife are such lovely people and nothing is ever a problem. They messaged us their recommendations for restaurants before we arrived which was really helpful! The villa is only a 10/15 minute walk up to the old town which is so beautiful!!
We canât wait to come back!!
A lovely spacious villa in a beautiful location near Ragusa, with very welcoming & helpful owners.
We had a great family holiday and my wife, daughters and I loved the spacious villa and its private garden and private pool. The villa has a rural location but in just 10 minutes you can walk up a path to the beautiful Ragusa old town (steep steps but you are rewarded by superb views and can feel happy having âearnedâ your beer/food). Plenty of lovley bars restaurants in the city. We found the people of Sicily very friendly, helpful and understanding of our frankly pathetic grasp of the Italian language đ. Overall a lovely week and a fantastic picturesque location.
We would highly recommend and we look forward to returning again in the future.
A beautifully presented accommodation in a very relaxing location. A safe environment for children (we have age 3 and age 10 year olds) and quiet garden for adults to relax. We had all we needed inside and Lucio (owner) was there for us when we needed him. He even met us very late at night on our arrival in the middle of town.
2 minute drive up to Ibla for restaurants. I wouldn't walk as a dog did not like the look of me on the way up.
As a family we loved Modica, Scicli, Ortygia and the Marinas of Modica and Ragusa.
