This our third time staying here. We love the cabin, the location on the lake and being close to Park Rapids. The cabin is so well equipped, and the host is so responsive and easy to work with. A tree fell across the driveway and she was taking care of it before we knew it happened! Canât wait to go back.
Excellent, just what we needed for a couple weeks. Great spot on an awesome lake. The perfect mix of rustic old-school up north cabin combined with the essential modern conveniences. Very attentive owner who made sure everything was good to go.
The lake is incredibly clean and was great for fishing and kayaking. The cabin was comfortable and exceptionally well stocked. We loved sitting on the deck for sunrise views and daytime shade. We grilled on the deck and enjoyed the evenings with the sounds of loons and the breeze through the pine trees. Perfect proximity to Park Rapids and surrounding golf courses. Host was very responsive!!
This was our second time staying at the cabin. Itâs very comfortable and is equipped with everything you need and more. Our host responded immediately when we had a question. Wonderful place, we made some great memories here!
The home is comfortable. The lake & dock were only a few feet from the deck. Nice deck furniture. Every supply to help us enjoy the house was there! Very well equipped. It made it easy for us. We had a great 16 days there with our kids & their families.
This clean, vintage cabin has everything you need for your lakeside vacation! (However, no fire pit due to liability). Very quiet area. Clean lake. We were able to dock our 19â fishing boat and enjoyed using the paddle boat. (Bring water shoes for swimming off the dock- it has a soft sand bottom in some spots.)
Comfortable beds for our group of 6 adults and 1 child. The deck is very spacious and we had zero bugs!
Owner is quick to reply to questions and very accommodating. Neighbors were friendly, too!
We highly recommend this property and look forward to staying again!
The cabin was better than expected! I donât know why, but I thought the king bed was in a basement? Itâs totally not! Main level room. Kids had the upper level to themselves! Lots of space inside the cabin. Nice deck area! Plus advantages of not having to bring our own bedding and inside towels. We would definitely stay here again!
We had a very good stay here. The view from the upstairs bedroom is beautiful! It has everything thatâs needed. The lake is very clean. They were very easy to work with.

We had a great experience at this cabin - itâs got everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the view from the deck/cabin is just beautiful. Great communication from the owner throughout the booking process and prior to our stay. I would recommend this cabin for family events and getaways with your friends.
We enjoyed our fourth stay at Thomas Terrain in August 2020. It feels like home. The owner has made improvements over the years. It is comfortable and well-equipped with everything you might need. I'm sure we will go back.
We like Park Rapids area and this is our second year stay in this cabin. Or by other words, we are happy return customers. Cabin is in a very nice location with other nice homes near by, so you don't feel lonely and abandoned in the woods. Beautiful view from the deck overlooking the lake. Quiet and comfortable, and close to bike trail where we spent almost half a day each day. The only problem is that we could not stay longer and had to return back to work... stay was not
We had an awesome time at this house. Right on Long Lake with a private dock and an assortment of water toys including a paddle board, paddle boat, and fishing boat. We also had access to a fire pit and a grill which made the evenings out there great. A nice touch was having cabinets and light switches labeled throughout the house.
We wouldn't hesitate to come back again.
We rented the cabin for 10 nights. There were six of us and it was very spacious. The cabin is vey well kept and has everything you could ever need. Property owner was responsive and helpful. Would definitely go back!
We enjoyed our time at this property. We had two families -- 4 adults and 3 boys, ages 9, 10, and 14. The size of the place was perfect. Having a washer and dryer available was super helpful, as was the dishwasher. The boys had fun finding treasures of different water toys in the "fish house" and loved the paddle board and pedal boat. We brought our boat and lily pad and enjoyed our time out on the lake tubing, fishing and swimming. The property was well stocked with paper products, towels and the kitchen pretty much had anything you could need. The only suggestion for improvement we would have is that it is time to replace all of the mattresses, they are not very comfortable. Overall wonderful stay and we would return.
We just finished our third week-long stay at Thompson Terrain. We love it ... clean, well-equipped, wifi and TV if you want it, wonderful view out the master bedroom, decent fishing. It's perfect for us.
The cabin truly had everything we needed and very spacious! The kids had a great time playing in the water, using the paddle boat and the hammock! The only downside were the 20 somethings staying at the cabin right next to us as they partied, drank and cussed a lot so it made it uncomfortable to have the kids play outside. Not Eileen's fault at all! But would have been a lot more relaxing without them there :) Thank you Eileen for letting us stay! We did enjoy exploring itasca state park and Park Rapids :)
Comfortable, clean, cozy, relaxing, well-equipped lake place in a wonderful setting.
We enjoyed a great 5 days at Thomas Terrain! It was our second time here and we will likely come back. Fishing was pretty good. We rented a motor from Charlie's Marine in Park Rapids for the fishing boat that comes with the cabin. Lake access is easy. Nice dock.
I grew up with my two sisters in Des Moines, Iowa. We studied ballet in my mother's dance studio and after high school I moved to Minneapolis to dance professionally with MN Dance Theatre. After a number of years, I moved to New York City to continue my dance career. I am now a massage therapist, in Brooklyn, where I live with my daughter. We have spent every summer of my daughter's life enjoying the Minnesota waters and hope to continue for many years.
My family has a long history with Long Lake beginning with my grandparents coming up from Iowa to fish in the 1930's. My parents had their honeymoon at the cabin next door and, as a family, we continued to visit many summer resorts on Long Lake. My parents purchased our cabin from the Pine Haven Beach Resort in 1969. My dad was a sailor and I have many fond memories of sailing all afternoon on the lake. It's always been one of my favorite places on the planet. We have life long friends here and so many wonderful memories.
I think the lake is unique, in part, because of its shape with the little nooks and crannies along the shore. One of our favorite places is Breezy Point, which you can see from the deck to the south, because of its shallow water and sandy bottom. The wind blows the sand differently each day and its always interesting to see how it has changed. Breezy Point is a public access beach so all are welcome to play on its shores! The front deck is open and spacious. In the cool mornings it is warmed by the sun for cozy, book reading with morning coffee. It's shaded and cool in the afternoons, perfect for drinks, lunch and evening grilling. The beach area is shady bottomed and shallow, perfect for watching small kids in water play. In the evenings there is a small fire pit for warming and cooking marshmallows. Long Lake is also conveniently close to Park Rapids and all its amenities, making a trip in a nice diversion for lunch, shopping or taking in one of the seasonal events in town. The kids always enjoy the candy store and movies.
