As a family this house wa the best for elderly and disabled because the living space is in one level. Nice rap around garden but little used due to the weather but helpful to have a dryer to use.
Small but comfortable. The garden was a superb place to hang out as it was hot!! Instructions for the door locks would have been helpful for these Americans. :)
House was very neat and clean. Al4hough congested but had all necessary facilities. Host was very nice. She contacted and asked for any requirement. I shall definitely come back again and recommend to family and friends
The property was really beautiful and clean.. wifi was super slow don't bother login in. Kitchen is bit tight but has everything u need including BBQ in the garden(BBQ is available to use). If ur thinking to cook then plz take ur own frying pan there is one but thats super sticky. Garden is really pretty if u like privacy then that will be a perfect choice. Could do with little bit more plates and forks. Overall very beautiful and cozy cottage. We had a lovely time
Enjoyed our stay, few issues.
Advised off street parking but drive to short for average car and garage locked and filled with furniture.
Water pressure very poor could not fill the bath at all as plug not sealing.
Under Microwave very dirty and greecy.
Cushions outside sodden wet,we dried and left inconsevatory.
No control allowed on central heating.
Had a lovely few days at this property, was in good location close to Bowness and very quiet, car parking directly outside and garden safe and ideal for my dog. It was an extremely hot week and the garden offered areas of shade or sun. The accommodation provided all facilities including washer, dishwasher, en-suite etc. There is a steep hill to and from the accommodation so i needed to use my car as both my parents would have struggled to walk into Bowness but other than that, no complaints at all and hope to return. No hesitation in recommending the property to anyone looking for somewhere near to Bowness and a base to explore the Lakes
With the dining table laid out with biscuits and cake, we felt very welcome. Photos do not do the garden justice, it is really lovely and completely private. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and the beds were very comfortable. Large TV and wi-fi so home from home. If you need to park in Bowness don't leave it too late as spaces fill up quickly. We found it easier to walk in. I am 78 and by no means fit but I found it no problem. There is a frequent bus service from the bottom of the road if needed. We had a wonderful week and certainly hope to come back.
The location was good and it had a nice garden. However, the bedding and the dust in the house let this house down. Very heavy old fashioned and cumbersome bedding with too many cushions just harbouring dust. Not ideal for a home being shared by so many people. We were a party of 4 for 4 days and 2 people had to leave after 2 days as they one of them had an asthma attack in the middle of the night. He was fine when he got out of the house so I can only put it down to the bedding or dust in the house. I hoovered and the hoover was also very smelly. The middle bedroom also has to hear very loud plumbing noises from the ensuite
We found this ill designed.(ie no room to move when there are 6 of you.Kitchen hot tap pressure almost zero.No wi-Fi as stated dirty kitchen bin tiny tiny en suite(more like a cupboard)no good for a normal size person Cracked drinking glasses.Lights that fade and then come back on.If I thought there was any point I would be asking for a refund
Well situated for town and local fells but too many problems
Like previous visitors we were pleasantly surprised by the tea and cakes that greeted our arrival. The beds were comfortable and the narrow squeeze in the double bedroom wasnât a problem because it was only used by a six year old. But we found the galley kitchen uncomfortably narrow for family use.
The clocks had just gone back so we had problems with the boilerâs timing, This led to a somewhat acrimonious communication with the owner who eventually overrode the timer.
On Halloween morning our granddaughter had just finished the Treasure Trail weâd set up for her when the owner arrived with a workman to discuss the leaking roof. Not wonderful timing. The next day a British Gas engineer turned up to sort out the boiler timing and decided he needed to do some serious remedial work so he returned that evening just as weâd settled our granddaughter to bed. He spent an hour dismantling the burner while we attempted to have a bit of family time. When he finished he said that heâd have to switch the boiler off because the pilot light was faulty and would leak gas. So no central heating. On our last day the electrics in the garage failed when we were halfway through a wash and the conservatory leaked during that dayâs continuous rain. Weâd paid top whack for a half-term week and reckoned we were due a rebate. None has been offered and we consider it a waste of time asking.
Itâs worth pointing that the person named on the website as the owner appears to be the manager, according to the person answering the housekeeperâs phone, who we believe is the actual owner. All rather puzzling.
Bungalow was ideally situated for us, we had a few minutes walking to get to either Bowness of Windermere. We know the area very well as we return every year, this location was the the best.
We had a wonderful holiday in the cottage, everything was just perfect, bowness on Windermere is a beautiful place lovely bars and restaurants, boat trips were brilliant, the cottage was a perfect location for visiting other areas in the Lake District, the hill up too the cottage is a bit steep only 120 yards though , taxi from the town cheap at ÂŁ4 , we would definitely use this place again
Lovely little house. Great location for travelling the lake district. Nice tidy property. Good rooms. Kitchen is a little tight. And Internet is good for emails.
This was our second stay here. It is so well-situated between Windermere and Bowness and the property is spacious, clean and well-equipped. The gorgeous garden is an absolute gem. Already looking at booking again.
We had a great stay everything was as advertised. This was perfect for us for the week. The only negative I have was the WiFi was extremely slow and we wasnât able use it. I would definitely stay again.
Excellent property had everything you needed for a week away.
Host left us a lovely fresh cream sandwich cake and tea for arrival.
Property between windermere Town and bowness Town both within walking distance however just one thing to mention there is quite a steep road up to the cottage which was a struggle for my mum so we had to bring the car down each time we went out but apart from that an excellent holiday home and I hope to book again.
Well equipped property and ample space for six adults to sleep eat and relax.
Excellent location for walking into both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere and a great place from which to explore further into the Lake District.
The kitchen is is not huge but is has everything you need to rustle up a meal, and a bonus fridge / freezer in the garage.
We had a very wet week so the conservatory was another bonus as place to sit .
As other reviews have mentioned there has been problems with a leaky roof but this had been addressed and it was nice that the owner did show up to check all was good with the repairs as we'd had a two day deluge.
So all in all ideal accommodation to pass a week in the lakes whatever the weather.
We would definitely recommend a stay here or stay ourselves again.
Only downside was nothing to do with the property, but the VRBO app yet again not appearing to allow contact with the host without having to go through the torment of the VRBO chat/helpline .
We loved every minute staying at The Birds Nest. What an amazing property and the location was great too. It was so good we didnât want to go home đą
It is close enough to the Village to be apart of it but far enough away to enjoy the Lake with no passers by the location is faboulous. If you are looking for something larger then please try our other property - Storrs Lodge which is a detached property sleeping 8 situated in Bowness.
