We stayed here with kids, grandparents and dogs. We had a lovely weekend, there was plenty of space for us all, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely come again
We had a great stay at Mattâs property. The location was great and the barn was clean and well equipped. The welcome goodies were very much appreciated. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. If we were in the area again we would happily stay at the barn again.
The property was excellent, Matt made us very welcome and provided everything we needed. Tranquil and lovely to watch the wildlife from the decking. We will definitely return.
A beautiful property in a beautiful location. Great walks and lots of places to visit - I wish we had more time. Matt - property owner - was really great and communication was excellent.
Matt hide away in the Shropshire Hills was the perfect weekend excape for our multi generational and mixed mobility family group the area is breathtaking and the property was immaculate and the host Matt was a absolute Gent with fantastic communication throughout and flexibility. A super property and a super host.
Great stay in lovely barn. Welcome from Matt and instructions on how everything works very helpful. Wonderful accommodation and comfy beds for all. Well equipped and perfect for our family trip.
Great quiet location for a multi generational holiday. Lovely cosy barn in a beautiful location. kitchen very well equipped and Matt very friendly. We very much enjoyed our stay. Many thanks
A well equipped and spacious property, set in beautiful grounds and countryside. Lovely walks from the house and around local towns and villages.
Thank you Matt for making us so welcome.
We had a fantastic 2 weeks staying in this stunning 4 bedroomed extremely spacious accommodation, Having two large wet rooms was an added bonus. Situated in the beautiful Shropshire hills with only sheep for neighbours.
Would highly recommend this property to anybody, particularly those looking for accessible accommodation.
Matt could not have been more helpful, always at hand if needed.
Perfect for a multigenerational family holiday. Plenty of space for the children to play, indoors and out.
Really close to footpaths to enjoy the magnificent countryside.
Relaxing on the patio with a glass of wine, just sheep and tranquillity.
We travelled to England to celebrate our daughterâs birthday, and wanted a place to get away that was accessible. The cottage was perfect for us, we loved the countryside and the peaceful luxuries in the cottage. Matt was a wonderful host, providing us with good local food suggestions as well as some fresh food staples when we arrived.
We also appreciated all the literature about the surrounding areas. We would definitely return if we can, as it is really well set up and laid out for anyone.
We highly recommend staying here.
We stayed here for my husbands 'big' birthday. Wonderful location and beautiful barn. The pooches didnt want to leave! Perfect for coming together with loved ones. Fabulous walks and perfect for chilling on the decking listening to birds and watching wildlife. Barn is well equipped, spacious, lovely fireplace and host very welcoming and helpful.
Mattâs house is stunning. It is fitted out to a very high standard with beautiful decor. The huge garden sweeping dow to its own stream was a dream for our kids and dogs. Matt had great communication with us throughout and was very accommodating. We would definitely visit again.
I have never written a review on a property before but this house was so lovely that I just had to. As soon as we walked in we felt so at home as did our dogs. Trust me when I say that the photographs do not do the place justice. In summary, a peaceful location and a beautiful cottage.
Lovely property with perfect set up to accommodate older generation with significant mobility issues , but large garden and lovely set up for younger visitors and dogs . Welcome items really appreciated. Thank you
8 of us in our 50s to celebrate a 60th birthday. What a fabulous place. Beautiful, peaceful and perfect for us all to have an amazing weekend together. Stunning place. Nothing was too much trouble for host Matt. Lovely man. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.
Met with family from Wales to celebrate special anniversary. Welcome and info from Matt was excellent, couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Beautiful surroundings and outside area to enjoy the outdoors with a BBQ and a G&T in the sunshine. Inside is tastefully decorated to a rustic but smart country style with nods to the barns original use. Ideal for everyone as set on one level with walk in showers. Cosy comfortable and spacious. Would love to come back! Thanks Matt :-)
Three couples and 3 dogs stayed at Matts beautiful remote barn and had a wonderful time. The cleanliness and description of the property was A1 !! It was exactly what I wanted. The host met us and explained simply and professionally where everything was and how it worked. We literally wanted for nothing.. beautiful countryside amazing places to visit and a cosy log burner to come home to. Perfect.
We booked the accommodation as two families for a long weekend away.
The barn is a great find and the land surrounding is beautiful with a small stream at the bottom of the dog secure garden.
There was so much room in the modern barn for us all to enjoy spending time together, which is good as storm Barbet made some of roads impassable (this was the most rain seen for many years in the area). Having the space meant even though we couldnât get out for the day, our time was still enjoyable.
Matt the host was great and made sure everything was easy. We will return in the future, hopefully when the rain has stopped!!
We had a long weekend here in July. Who would have thought the English weather would be constant rain!! But not to fear, the property couldnât have been better! So much space for the kids to run around in, playing hide and seek or âtagâ! Although we didnât have anyone in our party with mobility needs, I loved that this property catered to this without ruining the feel of the home. The garden is stunning. Wish we could have chilled out there more⊠or had a bbq. Next time! It really feels like youâre in the middle of nowhere which is great. But be prepared to travel for food etc. Matt the host couldnât have been more helpful . Even letting us have a late checkout - and was lovely . Hoping to come back for better quality weather!
This property is by far the best place we have ever been, from start to finish this holiday delivered on every level, from the seclusion and quality and the surrounding areas everything was perfect. My dogs loved to roam and explore and chase each other up and down the stream that runs through the bottom of the extremely well kept garden. The inside of the property was to an extremely high standard (the pictures on the website really don't do it justice) and the kitchen was well equipped with everything required (lovely welcome pack of eggs and sourdough upon arrival). Every bedroom was clean and tidy and the ensuites with the wet rooms were perfect for my elderly mother in law. The front room had the most amazing wood burner for the chilly evenings and early mornings and a good TV with lots of channels. All in all the perfect break for relaxation and we definitely be booking again very soon. Thanks Matt for letting us stay in such a wonderful place :-)
We were a three-family get-together, 8 people in total. Alder Barn was really spacious and extremely well equipped with everything being of very high quality. Everything, including the wet rooms was extremely clean and the place is very suitable for people with mobility difficulties. The garden included a wonderful large patio area with good seating and lovely views with sheep and many varieties of small birds. The spacious grass areas around the barn and the shallow clear brook alongside it provided plenty of entertainment for the kids. The barn was very comfortable, warm and light. Matt was extremely friendly and helpful and very informative about places to visit in the local area. We took his advice and had Sunday lunch in the Three tuns pub/brewery in nearby Bishops Castle and it was absolutely delicious. There are many lovely official walks in the local area with splendid views and even straight from the barn. We all left there planning our next visit and whom to take there.
This is our 4th visit to the barn and we plan to return in the autumn. Extremely comfortable property with excellent facilities. This year the weather has been particularly good so we appreciated the lovely new rattan furniture allowing us to sit out in comfort on the decking surrounded by the beautiful scenery.
We did some great walks from the property.
If you are looking to get away from it all and want to spend time outdoors sampling nature in the peace and quiet then this is the place to go.
The cottage is immaculate and is not only suited to the able bodied but can also accommodate wheelchair uses/not so able bodied with the wider doors in the property and the subtle aids in the wee rooms. It is the only cottage we have stayed in who offer these facilities so a big shout out to Matt the owner for doing this.
The surroundings are idyllic, fields on either side. One did have sheep in which we were a little concerned with our 2 German Shepherds but nothing was too much trouble for Matt, he offered to move the sheep into a different field, as it happened it wasnât a problem with our dogs and they all seemed to live happily together.
The cottage has everything in it which you will need, doors opening out to a lovely decking area and a garden which is fully enclosed (part lawned/part woodland) perfect for the dogs to go exploring safely. Walks on the doorstep with glorious views. Definitely worth a visit.
We donât often go back to same place but would be happy to make an exception with this property.
