Home from home but on a much bigger scale, great house with all you need. 9 of us stayed 3 generations from 2yrs to 61 yrs and 2 German shepherds who loved the garden and the woods. It as great views and walks from the house.
It is remote that's why we booked it, so be prepared to travel half hour to Mallaig and 45mins to fort william, has i say we like to be remote.
The whole family (all ages) had a great time. Plenty to do out and about. House was lovely and very well stocked. The children especially enjoyed seeing the deers in the garden. Supply of games to keep everyone amused if needed. We were very fortunate with the weather. Pat was only a phone call away if needed. Great stay
Lovely house with detached games room in a great location. It was perfect for our four generations of family and we had some really lovely weather and little or no midges. Only negative of the trip was that we needed to thoroughly clean the kitchen on arrival as it was as things like the ovens and extractor hood were not very clean at all.
We have stayed in many houses over the years and this house beats them all. The ability to walk down to the shore, through the woods to the bay, and up the hills behind is magical. Even when it rained all day, as it did of course, there are so many glass doors and windows it doesnât seem depressing. We strongly recommend Coopers Knowe
There are so many words to describe this house and location, but the best way is Idyllic !!!
An AMAZING HOUSE - views to remember forever, beautiful walks whatever the weatherâŠ
Pat was an amazing from start to finish with communication & informationâŠ
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & the epic 13 hour drive was most definately worth it âŠ!
We will be returning to see the house in different seasons
This is a wonderful place to stay as can be seen from the photo gallery which really doesn't do it full justice. There were 10 of us across 3 generations accommodated in 5 en-suite bedrooms. The kitchen is well appointed with all mod-cons and an almost endless supply of crockery, cutlery and glassware. An additional fridge-freezer in the garage mops up the bottles and cans of drinks and anything else needing cold storage. Off the garage is an ever warm drying room, part of the heat exchange hot water and heating system. There are two sitting rooms, one a snug with TV etc, the other, with big views of the Loch less than 100metres away. We were treated to an otter hunting, eating crabs and fish one evening. Red deer in the garden were an everyday occurrence.
All rooms are luxurious, tastefully furnished, spacious and comfortable. In a separate annex is a games room with deep sofas for spectators of the darts, snooker and table-tennis tournaments we enjoyed.
A short (muddy after rain) 10 minute walk takes you to a deserted sandy beach often visited by an otter, with rock pools to be explored. We paddle boarded from both the sandy and the pebble beaches.
The owners were great communicators ahead of and during our visit, and left a wealth of helpful information in the house book. We were also welcomed most generously, but unexpectedly, with gifts of whisky, wine and shortbread. Such personal touches are so very much appreciated.
The area offers much to enjoy and explore. The Hogwarts Express runs twice daily between Mallaig and Fort William to the delight of the Harry Potter fans in our party while a boat cruise from Arisaig yielded dolphins and porpoises, but the Minke whales had moved away that day. Glenuig with its Inn and Community shop is well worth a visit.
The weather during our stay was dull, cold and mostly rainy, but never kept us in or inactive and anyway the house is warm and cosy.
All in all, a wonderful holiday had by all, but please keep it a secret or Cooper's Knowe will book years in advance and we'll never get to stay again!
We had a wonderful time, again, at Cooper's Knowe. This is a gorgeous house with lots of room for our three generations. We are already looking forward to our next stay!
Superb property to stay at. Everything you need. Views outstanding from the house.
Glenuig Inn 10min away has great food, if restaurant full they supply take away fish and chips.
Staying sunsets near Glenuig over the water.
We all had a brilliantly week in the Highlands. The house was incredible, Pat and Bob had thought of everything. Well stocked with all the essentials and some little treats. Thank you it was amazing.
A fabulous house in a beautiful location. It had everything we needed and Patricia was very helpful before, during and after our holiday. Weâve already passed on details to some friends!
We were on a family holiday and the house and games room couldnât have been better. The best thought out and equipped rental we have stayed in.
The views are stunning and we were blessed with good weather and no midges.
Communication with Pat was first class from start to finish. Walking through woods to Sandy Cove, deer appearing every evening, itâs idyllic.
Local pub Glenuig Inn was 6 minutes drive away and created a great impression with us all from toddler to grandparents.
Fantastic all round.
Coopers Knowe is a truly beautiful place to be. The house itself is spacious, very well-equipped, tastefully decorated, and comfortable (both when awake and asleep). Its location is just breathtaking. The views over the loch to the hills beyond never grow old, and the ever-changing Scottish weather painted the view with different textures each day.
We shared the garden with a small family of local deer, including on a couple of days a young male we nicknamed Bambo the Alpha Buck due to his willingness to stare down our dog, who really didnât know what to make of him. It was very funny to watch.
The purpose of our time at Coopers Knowe was to unwind and relax, and we managed that perfectly. We did a few trips out to Glenfinnan, Mull, and Tioram Castle, but we spent most time in and around the house, often walking to the wonderful little sandy beach that was 10-minutes walk away. The family enjoyed combing the beach for shells.
Pat was a fantastic host - very quick to respond, and very thoughtful. We felt well looked after. She also provided us with a huge amount of information to orientate us in the house and give us ideas for things to do and places to shop and eat.
All in all, a wonderful stay in a lovely house in a beautiful place with a caring host. Canât ask for more, really.
Spacious well presented home in beautiful Highland setting!
We stayed at Coopers Knowe as a multi generational family and enjoyed the amenities and comfort of this delightful home - very much a home away from home. The location is idyllic for some R&R and affords some spectacular Highland views at its doorstep. Pat was very helpful with information needed before and during the stay and made sure we were comfortable.
We will definitely return again in the future to Coopers Knowe!
Enjoyed our week in The Highlands. Beautiful property with large bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and stunning views of the loch and the nearby mountain. The location is perfect if you like peace and quiet. I would recommend a visit to Mallaig, as it had a good selection of places to eat and Corpach for stunning views of Ben Nevis.
The house was very spacious with fantastic views. Good location with plenty of day trips not too far. Beach is on the door step and many great walks can be had from the house. Excellent communication from the owner. The games room is a good bonus.
Very well designed and equipped house in magnificent setting.
Lovely house, lovely place and splendidly relaxing environment in which to spend a few days. Particularly well equipped house and very good instructions. Unfortunately broke my wrist slipping on a rock so brief reply due to right hand impairment!
This is a really special place, both the location and the house itself.
It's so comfortable and well equipped and great for a family group. Having good public rooms means there is plenty space for socialising.
The ground floor bedroom was ideal for my elderly father and the rest of us were very happy with our bedrooms and en-suites.
The outside space is fabulous, being able to walk along the beach and enjoy the stunning scenery was a real treat for the humans and the dogs.
Looking forward to a return visit.
We were looking for a substantial, quality property in which to celebrate my 70th birthday with the family. We were a party of ten adults (ages ranging from 39 to 69) plus our darling fifteen-month-old granddaughter. The location was also important to us as we wanted to enjoy some tranquillity with stunning views.
The property was perfectly set up for our party - even the extra bathroom was utilised. We loved the massive lounge which was so comfortable and where we chilled out in the evenings. We didnât make much use of the separate television lounge nor the well-appointed games room which is in a separate building. We ate in most evenings and found the kitchen worked well, although we did have to store some of our considerable alcohol supplies on the porch as we couldnât squeeze it all in the fridge. The bulk of our shopping was done either at Morrisonâs in Fort William or the Co-Op in Mallaig. The family all loved their rooms, in particular the two large rooms at each end of the property with their balconies and views over Loch Ailort. We would certainly recommend the property to like-minded families, but would choose to visit in the summer months when we could enjoy the outdoor facilities and activities on offer and perhaps see more of the local wildlife (it was mid-December and we only had about 61/2 hours of daylight). There was a nice touch of a welcome pack provided by the owners, who had also arranged for the house to be dressed for Christmas. Thank you!
Very spacious and comfortable house, ideal for family group of 4 adults and 4 children. Lots of thoughtful touches, the owners have gone to considerable lengths to ensure a great holiday experience.
We had a lovely family time celebrating our parents diamond wedding. The house is very easy to enjoy. The kitchen has all the tools and equipment. The lounge gave us lots of space to sit and reminisce with breathtaking views. Family walks to the beach and darts and pool tournaments in the games room kept us all entertained. Thank-you for helping us to make Mum and Dad's day so special.
This is an outstanding house, spacious, beautifully furnished and so well equipped. We were there for a family celebration and it worked perfectly, especially the ground floor bedroom for Grandpa! The outlook over the loch was stunning and proximity to the beach was great for exercising the dogs. Pat, the owner was very helpful and most attentive. We look forward to a return visit.
Since living in Glasgow for a couple of years when we were younger, my husband and I have regularly spent a good deal of our in Scotland. My husband's energy business operates a number of small hydro electric power stations across Scotland and when land came up for sale opposite the hydro electric scheme we own in Roshven we jumped at the chance to build a holiday home on it.
Roshven is a very special place. The local area affords views that are up there with the best in the whole of the UK and you really do feel yourself unwinding the moment you enter the house. Sitting looking at the waves on the loch with a glass of wine or a wee dram in hand is the perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of modern life! But although the house is fairly remote, there's lots to do and plenty of places to visit within a short drive to ensure you don't get bored. And there are also lots of nice places nearby to sample Scottish hospitality.
I love seeing the deer strolling through the garden right outside the lounge window. I also particularly enjoy strolling through the woods to the sandy cove - on a clear day you'd think you were on a Greek island!
