Newhaven est une spacieuse maison de vacances familiale idéalement située dans le populaire village de pêcheurs du 18e siècle de Porthleven, près de Helston en Cornouailles. Reconnue comme destination de vacances, Porthleven offre un cadre paisible, une excellente cuisine et une vue fantastique sur la mer - l'endroit idéal pour des vacances reposantes. Avec une vue sur la tête du port depuis la chambre principale, Newhaven peut accueillir des groupes de six à huit personnes dans trois chambres et dispose d'un jardin avant privé isolé de bonne taille avec terrasse et barbecue - idéal pour les repas en plein air. Situé à seulement deux minutes à pied du bord du port et à cinq minutes d'une longue plage de sable qui s'étend sur des kilomètres le long de la côte jusqu'au célèbre Loe Bar, c'est l'endroit idéal pour passer des vacances en famille au bord de la mer. Porthleven est un beau village qui a su conserver son merveilleux charme cornouaillais et éviter d'être gâté. Il a beaucoup à offrir avec un supermarché, des restaurants, des pubs de pêcheurs, de nombreuses boutiques intéressantes à quai pour parcourir la vente d'artisanat et un bureau de poste. Ici, vous pouvez passer de nombreuses heures à vous promener dans le port et à regarder les bateaux monter et descendre sur l'eau, ou les pêcheurs qui rentrent chez eux pour décharger leurs prises quotidiennes. Sinon, asseyez-vous et admirez la vue imprenable sur la mer et la baie de Mounts. Il n'est pas surprenant que Porthleven soit populaire auprès des visiteurs toute l'année. Pendant les mois d'été, les sommets des falaises sont parsemés d'une abondance de fleurs sauvages et en hiver, la mer spectaculaire constitue un arrière-plan fantastique pour les promeneurs profitant du chemin côtier qui s'étend de Lands End au Lézard. La jolie ville de marché animée de Helston est à seulement deux miles de distance et offre beaucoup pour les visiteurs de tous âges. La ville a un mélange intéressant d'architecture géorgienne et victorienne et offre une bonne sélection de boutiques, pubs et restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Newhaven and it really did feel like home. The location provided the perfect base to explore Porthleven and the nearby places of interest. We would certainly stay again.

Great place to stay

We booked at the last minute and were so glad we did. The house was great for our family., enough room for five of us. It was really close to the harbour and the outdoor space was lovely. We found everything we needed to cook family meals, the kitchen was well equipped. Great place to stay, would highly recommend.

Last minute booking

We had planned to go to Cornwall with our caravan but we had to change our arrangements - found this property online and as it was on at a special offer suited our needs. We know the area and Porthleven is delightful, lots of ameneties close by, friendly community and cottage well placed to be close to everything. The cottage is well equipped, has a lovely outside area and we enjoyed our stay.

Cornwall Trip.

We have just left Newhaven after spending a lovely week in Cornwall. Newhaven and Porthleven are the perfect base for exploring Cornwall. We absolutely loved Porthleven. It’s got a perfect mix of atmosphere without being too busy. It had a lovely feel to it and out of all the wee towns and harbours we visited it was definitely our favourite. The house is situated perfectly with a lovely view over the harbour. The enclosed garden is perfect for dogs and the property is very homely with lots of beautiful art work. The host is very responsive and any questions were answered promptly. Would not hesitate to book here again.

A great place to stay in lovely Porthleven

Newhaven is a spacious house with a lovely garden in a brilliant location in Porthleven. There is lots of room downstairs with a kitchen, separate dining room and living room. Upstairs two good sized bedrooms, plus a bunk room which is suitable for young children. The house could do with a bit of TLC but that is reflected in the price. We had a few concerns at first but the landlady responded immediately to everything. With two toddlers and two dogs in our party we found the location only two minutes walk from the harbour ideal and we completely fell in love with Porthleven

All you could want…….

We stayed in Newhaven for the week with our 2 dogs and had a lovely time. The house is very spacious and provided everything we needed for our stay. The added benefit of a secure garden was the icing on the cake. It’s also a sun trap so we enjoyed sitting out there. Porthleven is such a lovely place and Newhaven is ideally located just a minute’s walk from the harbour. As the G7 was in full swing we didn’t venture too far on this occasion but there are plenty of lovely walks on the doorstep that kept us occupied. The 2 local pubs offered great service clearly working hard to meet Covid requirements. Communication with Sarah was easy and pleasant. All in all this is a 5* recommendation and we would certainly go back to Newhaven and Porthleven in a shot.

Lovely Holiday but accomodation needs updates

We had a great stay, but the accommodation didn't have some of the essentials I would have expected. I wasn't mislead - I just assumed the property would have had central heating and wifi. The storage heater worked ok, but I think one of the bedroom heaters was broken, and 2 had broken control panels that had to be prised open. The controls were impossible to turn without using an implement, I think the heating needs upgrading really, as it was cold when we were there (March) and one of the bedrooms had no heating at all. The property is really nice, but looks tired. It needs painting on the outside as it looks dreary and mouldy, and there are lots of weeds. Also the bathroom is mouldy between the tiles. As we assumed we were early in the season, i thought it would have been freshened up over winder maybe but it didn't appear so. We had a really lovely holiday and Porthleven is gorgeous. We would come back to the area but not the property I think.

Dear Jill I am sorry that you found Newhaven disappointing. The property does now have WiFi & the night storage heating is being reviewed. I have past on your comments about mould & weeds to my caretaker & gardener & hopefully this will be brought up to standard. Externally the house is due to be repainted again in 2019, because the house is so close to the sea it does get the full brunt of the Cornish weather. Once again apologies for your disappointment & I hope this did not spoil your stay.

Great location

Owner communicates via email and text and supplies all check-in information, house rules, and local information and recommendations. The house has lots of character and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The garden is enclosed at the back, which was great for our dogs, with garden furniture and gets the sun until about 6pm (late September). The patio at the front of the house is also a bit of a sun trap with garden furniture and gives access to the street where parking is available on first come first served basis. When we parked we were never more than 10 metres from the gate. The rear garden also has a gate which is the easiest way to get to the harbour avoiding the steep road and takes about 1 minutes to walk to the harbour. Great views of the harbour from the main bedroom. WiFi was available throughout the property. The main rooms - lounge, dining room and kitchen were spacious and nicely furnished. Also plenty of storage in the two main bedrooms. Bathroom has large bath with integral electric shower. Additional there is outside padlocked storage if needed. Porthleven is a beautiful harbour with great pubs, cafes and restaurants.

A great property in a great location

Newhaven was spacious and clean, a perfect house for a family holiday. In a great location, less than a 5mins walk to Porthleven’s harbourside with shops & restaurants. 10mins walk to the beach.

Fantastic location

The property is in a wonderful position just tucked back from the harbour front. The garden was lovely and relaxing. The cottage was well equipped and furnished. However, we had a very cool start to our week and the night storage heaters were not on and the cottage was cold and the heaters were not sufficient for the evenings. Apart from this had a fantastic time with our dogs in the cottage.

Great location, spacious house with all required for our holiday. Bonus that has a garden in a harbour location as many just have terraces. Good communication from the home owner prior to stay. Will stay there again hopefully next year.

Nice place!

Newhaven was a perfect place for us to stay since my daughter lives in Helston. The place was very cold when we arrived but luckily the next day the heaters were warm. The fire in the livingroom was very nice after a long walk. We enjoyed ourselves. Nancy

Perfect Cornish holiday house!

We had such a lovely week at Newhaven! The house is well equipped with everything you may need (including a well stocked shed with buckets, spades and boogy boards - which the kids were most excited to discover!) and it is only 10 mins walk to the beach and the shops and restaurants around the waterfront which makes a nice stroll in the sun... nauti but ice was a definite favourite spot to visit! The garden is lovely for enjoying an evening barbecue and the terrace is a real sun trap in the day. Thank you for such a nice stay, will definitely be back again soon!

A really well situated property within minutes of the beach and all that Porthleven Harbour can give

We had an enjoyable and relaxing week in this comfortable cottage. It is perfectly placed in the vibrant harbour area of Porthleven, close enough to give easy access to excellent restaurants and shops but far enough away not to be disturbed by them, if you are after a little peace. From the back door you can be on the beach in less than 3 minutes and from the front you are in the heart of the harbour in seconds. The cottage itself has a well equipped kitchen with all we needed to cater for a family of 5 (with teenagers). There is amble space in the dining room and a comfortable living room. 2 of the bedrooms were spacious but the 3rd bedroom is really only suitable for younger children. The garden is pleasant and when we were there it got plenty of late afternoon sun, ideal for outside dining. We would definately return and recommend to friends.

Beautiful house situated within walking distance of the town but secluded enough to enjoy piece and quiet of the garden and afternoon sun. Favourite property we have stayed in Porthleven so far.

My name is Sarah Dring, I live in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire with my husband & three teenage daughters. I have always had a great love of Cornwall having spent many happy family holidays there as a child & later worked in a small Cornish coastal hotel.
I enjoy the sea & the beach & the rugged Cornish coastline
& think there is nothing quite like being by the sea & hope one day to live in Cornwall so I can enjoy it all the time.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We bought Newhaven in 2001 having decided that Porthleven offered everything we were looking for as a family holiday destination & have since spent many happy holidays there enjoying the area at all times of year.
We choose Newhaven as it offers good family sized accommodation & we were particularly attracted to the private & secure sunny garden which offers a great alternative to the beach if required.
Newhavens proximity to the beach & harbour & local amenities, all within literally 5 minutes walk of the house is also very appealing as this means that there is no need to use a car unless desired.
The coastal path, which is easily accessible from Newhaven, stretches in both directions for miles of beautiful rugged coastline,passing tin mines, with views over to St Michaels Mount.

The easy access to the beach, harbour & harbour side shops,restaurants, pubs, craft markets & ice cream parlours all just a stroll down the road is great & means you are never short of something to do come rain or shine.

Venture further afield & there are numerous beaches, National trust properties & activities all within easy access. The local market town of Helston, offers a boating lake & Flambards theme park. Falmouth, St Ives,Penzance are a short drive away.
