From the moment we arrived we realised that we were in a very special house in a wonderful environment. We had the best family holiday ever with lots to do in the area from mountain biking to the gem museum at Creetown. The weather was sunny but with a chill wind but that did not deter excellent use of the Hot Tub and cabin with its stunning view.
We had the most amazing time celebrating the New Year and my wife's birthday at Park Cottage. The property has a stunning kitchen and is surrounded by beautiful grounds overlooking the sea and also has a hot tub and games shed which were enjoyed by all. We would definitely recommend visiting this property!!
Beautiful house and grounds, lovely weather, super host...just what we were looking for for a fantastic family break...can't wait to come back next year
We had another amazing week at Park Cottage. The house is lovely and warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for Lorraine. There is plenty of room for all and the facilities are brilliant. Would highly recommend this property.
Amazing house and location with stunning views and great facilities. No need for the car all week!!
Excellent communication and information from Lorraine the host via Vrbo messages and then telephone numbers given too should there be further information or advice needed during the stay- everything went like clockwork!! A great time had by all-The perfect family holiday.
Park Cottage; Spacious, clean well situated with hot tub, games room, extensive gardens with sea views. The owners Lorraine and Robin were attentive and helpful providing many extra facilities. Harbour Inn and coffee shop near by served excellent meals. Highly recommended.
The property is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. A large family can enjoy the house and gardens without getting on top of each other. The surrounding area kept us entertained and the host was very welcoming and extremely helpful. This was our second visit and it's likely we'll be back again in the future!
Stunning location and the house was beautiful and had everything we needed to make this a memorable family trip. Some lovely walks in the area and the local pub, which allows dogs, was only a 5 minute walk down the path from the house. Lorraine, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and gave use some great tips on some places to visit during our stay. If visiting the area again, we would definitely re-book to stay here.
The house exceeded our expectations. It was just perfect for our family get together. Three generations, with ages ranging from 7 to 78, and we all loved it.
The hot tub was well used and we had a lovely meal in The Harbour Inn.
Described by all four in party as best ever accommodation.
Property fantastic as was location. My very able adult son and daughter with their two support workers have been on many stays in many locations and their description was the best ever. Location chosen by my son for his photography, it is so important to me as mum and employer that obviously main focus is for my son and daughter but needs to offer the opportunites for their support to enable the very best respite away. Thank you
we had a great stay with 3 generations of our family and everyone loved it and the many areas to have fun in. Well located for everything we wanted, beaches, walks. Lorraine was excellent with her communication and ideas when we had 2 rainy days on the trot. The house was lovely and clean and I would recommend to all!
Our party of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful part of the world. The property surpassed expectations - something rare for our family! We would highly recommend
Fantastic week spent with family and friends, a relaxing time in this stunning house, Christmas dinner again with all the trimmings as we couldn't be together in December
Great food in the local pub just a short walk away, we didn't want to leave
This is a beautiful place. Setting, grounds and proximity to the beach and attractive Garlieston are superb, and the house is SO well equipped. Everyone had v comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms and toilets, huge kitchen dining area, with all you needed in the kitchen. Communication with, and support from the owner was excellent and our family of ten and two dogs had a wonderful time. This place deserves a 10-star rating.

I live in Scotland with my husband. We have 2 children-one a Doctor and the other an I.T. entrepreneur. We are farmers and antique dealers with a shop in Virginia, U.S.A. We love living in south-west Scotland with its gorgeous uncrowded beaches, superb scenery, and friendly locals. I am a hill walker so the coastline and hills are blissfully peaceful. My husband is a golfer and his local course of St. Medan is Scotland's most southerly and awards dramatic coastline views- the sunsets are amazing!
Although not looking to purchase a property with two other businesses already, we knew we had to buy Park Cottage as its location and potential were too tempting! With 21 private acres, a sea view and of historical significance, this listed house had great appeal. Having renovated it to a very high standard and installed bio mass heating, every comfort is offered. With its tree lined drive and sea view, Park Cottage is blissfully away from the rat race! With open fields and the old stone laundry just visible to one side and the sea on the other, guests can enjoy an truly idyllic location.
Park Cottage is a listed historic house set in a listed landscape influenced by the landscape designer Capability Brown. While retaining its original features, fixtures and some fittings where possible, the house has every comfort possible. By installing biomass heating there is never an issue with quantity of hot water or heat and underfloor heating downstairs has guests enthused after returning from a dip in the sea ! Decorated with great care and quality of furnishings has been important to us. Not only have we tried to retain the soul of the property , but also have added a "new traditional" flair. Attention to detail for my husband Robin and I has been vital- even the chain for the kitchen's refurbished Copper lanterns had to be hunted down. We are always improving the property and giving back- not just taking away- we love this house! We were able to extend the house a few years ago and added a Mark Wilkinson designer Cook's kitchen with thick granite worktops to compliment. Larger groups will appreciate the space when having fun cooking together. A large antique table and chairs have hosted many gatherings with ease. Huge Halo leather modular seating was added to easily accommodate all sizes of groups. A full wet room was added with easy walking access and we can provide a shower seat, toilet frame and transportable wheelchair. The house is very unique in that it sits in its own private grounds of 21 acres. There is no passing traffic and no traffic noise can be heard. Only the soporific sound of the sea and the birds. We have added a fire pit overlooking the sea and new for 2021 a HOT TUB to gaze at Galloways' Dark Sky . We truly try to make your holiday here in the beautiful south west of Scotland a special one and we have families returning every year for the past 20 years. They usually book it a year in advance! Wonder what the upgrade will be this year? It's a new luxury "cabin" with bespoke copper roof, deck lighting and toilet!
