The house is amazing. Such a good space for a family get together. Well equipped kitchen with loads of space and comfy lounge and bedrooms. Massive outdoor space too which is enclosed so perfect for kids and dogs alike. Loved it.
Stayed here with 10 of us (5 couples) over New Years. Host was very helpful and made everything very easy for us to check in. Place was clean and presentable. Lots of character and plenty of space. Would recommend to anyone :)
We were 2 sisters with husbands and adult children. Traveled from US to visit extended family- aunt, uncle and cousins. The house was perfect for us to get together. We were 9 staying at the house, and plenty of room for us to spread out. Would recommend.
We stayed here for my brother's 50th birthday celebration weekend with all the family from ages 12 up to 75. It is a fabulous house for socialising, with large open plan kitchen/dining/games area. We never made it into the lounge! Dave was a great host and replied promptly to any questions throughout the booking process and when there. The house is well stocked and plenty of storage space for guests. The pool area and garden are slightly different now to the photos (garden is smaller) but still provided a great outdoor space for games/entertaining. It is an older style country house and possibly would benefit from a new coat of paint in the well used areas but we were very happy here and would return again for a repeat visit.
Would highly recommend a visit to Sheppys near by for their private cider tours/tasting.
The property was in a lovely location, with plenty of room, games room, even a piano. The property was a little tired inside, not many bulbs working in the kitchen, some chairs & curtain poles were broken, dust & cobwebs where everywhere, we opened one window upstairs & hundreds of flies came in, as they must have been living in the window frames. There was a problem with the Arger when we arrived on Fri evening, we called the owners to inform them it wasn't working, they couldn't come out that night & told us to use the electric oven, it was small for us to cook for 10 of us. The owner then came out on Sat lunchtime to look at the Arger, he said he couldn't fix it, & didn't know what else to suggest, what he should have done was called around earlier on the Sat morning & sorted an engineer to come out & look or offered us some money off. We ended up cooking a fry up for 10 people which took about 1 & half hours to cook on the electric oven & hob. We come from a B&B background family, so know what standard properties need to be. I think this property needs to be looked at by Air B&B.
We stayed at Parkgate House September 2022, with a party of 11 friends and family aging between 11-75 years.
The house had something for everyone and was exactly what we had hoped for. We were fortunate that the weather offered us warm sunny afternoons which allowed us to make use of the outdoor space - this was great. We were also able to use the outdoor fire pit which Dave kindly dropped some wood off for. The pool was on the chilly side due to the time of year we were there however once in and swimming, it was fine.
The only issue we had was that we thought we would be able to use the Aga but we couldnât as there is a problem with it. There is a much smaller cooker tucked away in a corner for guests to use however it isnât big enough to easily cook for large numbers. There was also no lighting in that corner as the extractor fan and lighting didnât work which compound the challenges of cooking. However after lots of laughter we have taken a lot of memories away from trying to cook on that cooker.
We had a wonderful weekend just being together. Lots of fun and laughter which was exactly what we wanted from the weekend.
A weekend get together with both my family and my sister's family, who visited for a bbq on the Saturday. Ample space and facilities in the house and garden for the 18 of us to socialise together. Certainly would book again if circumstances permit.
Whole family holiday plus the dog and the house was perfect, lovely large bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and eating area and plenty of out door space.would definitely come and stay again.
The property was ideal for our family get together, plenty of space for us all and large garden for 3 dogs to run in. Everything was supplied within the property to enable us to cater for a party of 9 adults and 3 children. The host was very helpful and replied promptly via email to any queries. The only slight negative was that we were unable to turn off the heated towel rails in the en suite bathrooms but the cleaner explained this was to do with the hot water supply within the property.
Stayed at the property for a week with some friends who were visiting from the US. The house is huge, bedrooms are large and easily enough space for the ten of us staying there. Communication with Dave was absolutely spot on and any issues we had were dealt with promptly. Lots of nice touches to keep kids amused (pool, table football, etc)
This home is gorgeous and was perfect for twelve friends over the weekend. Location was great to get away and we walked into town for a bite at the pub. Kitchen is fully stocked and loads of different spaces to entertain within the home. Dave was super responsive and we just had the best time.
We stayed at Parkgate House for a birthday weekend and the house and gardens was lovely.
Dave was available when needed and replied quickly to messages. The house was perfect for a weekend away, we especially loved the games room and piano!
Already talking about dates to come back - thank you!
Amazing house for a large family group of all ages!
We had such a wonderful time at Parkgate House, itâs beautiful and so spacious with wonderful facilities. We had thought the pool was going to be small and not anything special but it was fantastic and the perfect size to have fun and enjoy with the kids. The garden is very well kept and huge, with lots of room for games and plenty of outdoor seating. The kitchen/dining/games room is huge and was a great space for us to have dinners and socialise in the evenings. We brought our dog with us and it was safe and secure, plus there is a doggy room with a dog flap going to a fenced off part of the garden. The only thing I would say as a negative is the water pressure in the showers, which wasnât great but still manageable. We also hadnât received a notification that there wasnât going to be any towels provided because of COVID but we called Dave our host and he came over and was very happy to provide them for our stay and was very friendly. We will definitely be coming back for another family holiday, when we can!
A wonderful week spent at this lovely property situated in a beautiful part of the country. Lots of space to have fun together both indoors and out. Four teenagers and two dogs. Brilliant bike rides, snooker and cooling off in the pool.
Absolutely amazing family home and would recommend to anyone
We had the best ever Christmas in this house and the owners were very helpful and provided everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.. thank you so much Steph for everything
Lovely place .so much to keep you occupied ,even this time of year ,
Well set out ,easy access to and from the main road, without even hearing it.
Loads to do both inside and out ,even at this time of the season ,It would great in season when the pool was in use .Overall great place plenty to do and plenty of places to see..
Thanks from my family and my self. Cheers Bryan
Great week and good homely feel to house, good for larger families. Needs a few DIY jobs addressed.
All the family enjoyed themselves especially with the swimming pool, pool table, chess and outside games badminton, etc. Visited Taunton and Minehead and a few different Beaches. Good weather, family chill out and fun. Would recommend. Beautiful scenery and mainly quiet but private location. Owners very nice and friendly.
We were 7 adults and 4 children (under 7)and amply accommodated. The house benefits with a seperate playroom and lounge, TVs in each if so minded. Being 5 miles outside Taunton is a great site and ably connected to Somerset with plenty to find within 1 hours drive. The house has everything you might need; garden games, board and card games, PlayStation2 and games, fridges, freezer space, ovens and aga, microwave and 'questionably given there are likely kids' - a piano! Would have loved a garden trampoline but understand there are insurance reasons, but thermostatic controls on rads and child locks on windows and this place would be perfection indeed. Local pubs are good, but can be difficult to get into with groups. Saying all that, still easily 5 stars and wife wants to book it for next year already.
