Nice house but no lake access

We enjoyed the home, it had the perfect amount of space and everything we needed. Inside was clean but the outside and deck areas needed some serious cleaning. Lake access was very disappointing, it was a short walk to the lake but no access.

It was just my Husband, Son and Daughters-N- Law. Even though the cabin was dog friendly, I decided at last minute not to bring my dog because she is still a puppy. I didn’t want any accidents. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. I enjoyed looking out the window at the deer. We had great weather and really enjoyed the fall foliage. Thanks Again,

Long Weekend in Deep Creek

This was a lovely property and suited our needs quite well!! We enjoyed our stay very much! The only update we would suggest is new carpeting for the upstairs area. Beautiful and peaceful community and lots of wildlife sightings during our stay! Close to restaurants and shopping.

Long November Weekend

What a great place to stay! The house was clean and welcoming. We arrived after dark to porch lights on and a couple inside lights on. Beautiful area and a great couple days of hiking, fishing and even got to cross country ski a bit. Would definitely return!

Wonderful Family Getaway

We met our family and had a wonderful time. The location was great and enjoyed the amenties the house provided. The property is nestled in a beautiful area. Will definitely be back!

Yes, you do need a 4WD, but it has easy access to you everywhere. Nice central location.

Property was great. Better stocked than described online and even though there are fancier houses close by, the mountaineer is a gem.

Disappointing experience

This property needs a major overhaul. Some of the problems we experienced were: Fire pit had broken bottles and fireworks left from a previous tenant. I would have expected Management to have thoroughly checked the property before new renters came to be sure no safety issues were in place. Screened-in porch did not stay locked and had torn screens, making it useless for keeping out insects. No key for front door - only for side door. Only a slight inconvenience, but very strange. Rickety step going in side door, presenting a potential safety hazard, especially as there were no hand rails and no keys for other doors. The hot tub was broken for the ENTIRE time we stayed there (several days). We had to call many times while we were there to ask for updates, only to finally find out it needed a new part. (replaced the morning we left) The hot tub was the main reason we chose this property over similar homes. The dryer never worked properly, despite several calls to maintenance. It would shut off frequently, often after less than 2 minutes of use. The toilets would easily stop up, even with minimal usage of toilet paper. One stove burner was broken and improperly set in the top of the stove, presenting a potential safety hazard as well as making us unable to use one of the larger burners. It took two phone calls to remedy this. My husband had to fix it himself in the end. The dining room lights often didn't work properly and would only function at about half brightness. None of the following issues were terribly important to us, but I'll add them here so you can see further why this property is not ideal: several of the blinds around the house did not open and close properly, as they were missing their rods; the TVs were very old-style, with terrible reception; the top left bedroom door did not lock; the refrigerator water filter needed to be changed (one of the only issues that was remedied both promptly and properly). Again, none of these are deal breakers, but are helpful in understanding the quality of the property. All of these issues amounted to management agreeing to a small refund of $200.00 - not a large amount when you consider how often we had to call maintenance. We had to request compensation - nothing was offered independently by them, even though they surely had a record of the broken stove, dryer and hot tub, etc. I would never recommend this property to another renter and never wish to use this rental agency again.

Lovely property. Great for the 3 couples who stayed. Nice to have a bathroom with each bedroom. Deer and turkey at our front door.

Nice Place, Good Area

Mountaineer is a nice house in a good neighborhood that’s close to everything and convenient. The hot tub is great! We really enjoyed our President’s Day weekend with friends. Once suggestion - please update the technology in the house! Box TV’s with no way to hook up a DVD player or game system if you bring kids. An old stereo with no auxiliary or component input that you can hook a phone or tablet to listen to music. I actually went out and bought a Bluetooth speaker. The cost of updating these things would not be prohibitive.

This property is beautiful! The furnishings were comfortable. Great place!

We traveled to The Mountaineer from Annapolis for a4 night stay. We loved it! It was clean and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked. The setting was fabulous with deer walking through the yard in the morning and evening. Close to Wisp ski resort and the hot tub was wonderful! I would recommend this cabin for a family or group.

Hideaway woodsy vaca better then expected

The house is in a nice secluded area right off the lake. Ideal private location! Clean and spacious with all you basic needs if you’re wanting to spend some time at the home. We loved the fireplace and porch areas! The hot tub was very clean and easy to use. Some things need updated like the pots and pans, bedding/pillows, old box tv, hot tub cover, as well as, the wood deck retained water and froze into ice because the 2x4’s are not spaced out at all. For the price of the stay it is reasonable for what you get. We would stay there again certainly and these are basic fixes truly. We drive a truck so it was no problem getting up the snowy driveway. But anyone with a car may need to just park at the bottom if weather is harsh. We brought our own pool towels to use, and thankful we did, due to the one towel per person availability. If you’re used to the simplicity of an Airbnb check in/out this was a lot more time and travel involved. We had three times we thought were our check out 1.vrbo 2.the home rental co. 3.the time listed on our check in sheet. Just make sure to call and ask. We waited a half hr. At the front desk for them to tell us we couldn’t go to the house till 4pm on the dot and they didn’t want to give the key till then. Check out expected was I believe 10am. That’s a tad early, is how we felt, to be able to eat, clean up the place And pack up, then to drive the garbage up to the bin and drive to the place to drop off the key, in rainy snow conditions. Would recommend an 11am atleast for people was one of the main complaints we had. If you want a private, relaxing, woodsy retreat to maybe ski and come back and cook and relax this place is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone! Plenty of bedrooms for a family stay and huge dining table for food and games. We will be back for this same type of trip in the winter for sure! The house was much better then the pictures projected online honestly. We were pleased by that. Loved our 3 day quick vaca.

Rustic, quiet and peaceful.

Nice mountainside home

The house was very nice. It served our needs very well. The only criticism would be the driveway. It is not paved and has a steep grade. I would not want to drive up it in snowy or rainy weather.
