the perfect place to spend a relaxing time and enjoy the wild Cornish coast. The cottage is great for families and offers enough space for everyone. And we have never had such a clean holiday home. Contact with the landlords is completely problem-free and they take care of every request immediately. We can unreservedly recommend the cottage for a family holiday with lots of family time and will definitely come back.
We had a wonderful time in Farm Cottage at Portloe. The region is lovely, it is only a few steps to the pitoresque habor of Portloe and the Costal path way. There was everything you need in the Cottage and the atmosphere is very comfortable with nice local paintings. The communication with the owners was perfect. The owner gave as very valuable hints for local events and things to do. All over it was really fine.
Well-communicated with the host about the house, location, check-in process, and local events.
The road to the parking space was a bit narrow, however, I managed to park Skoda Kodiaq with 4 bikes in the towbar.
Very positive experience in general
We are a family with 3 kids and we spent a perfect Eatser holiday in Farm Cottage. The house is extremely comfortable and is extermely well decorated with beautiful and inspiring paintings. Portloe is a fabulous little harbour in a remote area of Corwall, with few tourists. We enjoyed great hikes on the coastal path both ways from the house. We would love to go back again.
Despite the weather we had a wonderful time at Farm Cottage. The house is fully equiped for at least 7 or 8 people in the picturesque village of Portloe.
Nice area to do some hiking, take a swim at one of the nearby beaches, collect local food and fish from the farm shop of Curguerrel Farm.
The entrance is indeed quite narrow, but it wasn't any problem to park at the Portloe Carpark nearby.
We had high expectations based on previous reviews. We didnât have a good stay. The property is tucked away between houses and right next to a small stream. We experienced strong smells (especially downstairs in the living quarters) which is explained as not being beyond what is expected of a Cornish cottage. Our entire group agreed to cut our stay short and left after one night.
What a fantastic find! I've stayed on the Roseland peninsula before and visited many times, but Portloe really is in a class of its own. Farm Cottage was delightful - a real home from home. It's patently clear that many happy times have been spent here and ours was just another chapter.
The host could not have been nicer, alerting us to events and throughout the week and helping us to unlock the secrets of this charming corner of Cornwall.
The access to the parking at the property is definitely a challenge, but, with care, most cars should manage. We got an Audi A3 and a Volvo C70 in (and out!).
There are lovely beaches nearby, although access to some of those is also challenging (in a good way).
We definitely plan to come again, and wish the host and her family all the best!
We really loved Farm Cottage, such a cosy and welcoming place that had absolutely everything we needed, a proper home from home. It was spotless when we arrived and we settled in straight away, it just felt so cosy with lovely colourful sofaâs and beautiful artwork. The kids especially loved their twin room and the toys that were in the house, loads of Lego, jigsaws, trucks and many adult games like scrabble too. We visited many of the recommended places, The Hidden Hut had a seafood stew to die for! We bought some delicious fish which we had no problem cooking as the kitchen had every utensil and pot you could imagine, including a large pot for our tasty mussels. We used the bbq on several occasions and we ate at the local Lugger Hotel in Portloe once which was really lovely, sitting on the veranda overlooking the sea. The beach around the corner in Portholland was a real gem, recommended by Carol the neighbour. Portloe is just a gorgeous little village, not busy or over crowded, very picturesque. We were sad to leave and would definitely stay again, the cottage was great and just what we hoped it would be.
P.s - for anyone wondering about the parking, we have a Ford S Max and managed to get it on the drive away.
We were two families of 3 & 4 (with 3 teenagers between us) sharing Farm Cottage for our 2 week Summer 2021 break and we all had a wonderful stay. The house was spacious, clean and homely with every utensil/pan/facility you could wish for (incl. the extra fridge in the barn for over-spill). We met the lovely neighbour - Carole - she was really helpful and the fact her garden was directly overlooked/viewed from the downstairs bedroom didn't prove an issue in terms of privacy (as I think one review mentioned). Having been warned that the drive at the cottage was quite tight for larger vehicles, we didn't attempt to park there until the last day when we thought it might be easier for check-out & surprisingly our Mitsubishi Outlander went down without too much difficulty (sadly the same couldn't be said for our friend's XC90!). That said, parking in the village car park didn't ever prove an issue during our stay despite being full most evenings (I believe this year has been an exception) and was only a 5 min stroll up the road from the cottage (on arrival we just pulled up outside and quickly decanted the car before just the drivers returned to the car park). Communication with Caroline & Tony (the owners) was timely and they were able to advise on loads of places to visit/things to do, which we found really useful. All in all we had a fab two weeks exploring The Roseland Peninsula and the weather was kind (not quite Italy but could have been worse!). Thank you for our stay and thank you Portloe for your charm, beauty and friendly pub/locals - hopefully we'll be back one day :-)
Farm Cottage was our wonderful home for the week, set in a quiet little village, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. It was also superbly located for lovely beaches and places to visit. Hosts were really responsive to any queries and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking to get away from it all.
The whole process of booking and staying in this wonderful cottage was a real pleasure. The cottage was exceptionally clean and tidy when we arrived, well ventilated and clearly well looked after and cared for. The cottage had a very welcoming feel and character and was equipped with everything we needed in terms of practicalities and comforts. We really enjoyed wandering along the coastal paths in / around Portloe . As well as being able to sit on the deck of the cottage at the end of the day, enjoying the calm, peace and quiet. The cottage and itâs location were exactly what we needed to unwind and recharge our batteries. What a lovely place in which to spend some time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property. Spotlessly clean and well stocked with essentials
Friendly neighbours who were able to give us some useful info
Will hopefully stay again
Beautiful cottage, Furnishings, decor, equipment all first class. Felt as if we were staying with friends. Exceptionally welcoming in every aspect. As âwarnedâ access to the cottage a little tricky for anything other than a small car, but as we wanted to explore the area on foot for our 4 night stay that wasnât a problem. Lovely walks on our doorstep, blackberrying, Veryan Show (40min beautiful field walk away) a real treat as was the Sunday morning service in the church there. Delighted with our choice of getaway.
We had a fantastic stay at Farm Cottage. Itâs a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of Cornwall with everything you could possibly need for a real holiday home from home.
It is beautifully decorated and furnished with every comfort and convenience you could possibly need. We are a family of five with teenage boys and had plenty of space. There is parking space for a couple of smallish cars but no problem parking a larger one on the village car park.
Portloe is idyllic with gorgeous walks on your doorstep and a harbour which made of a tempting swim at the end of a busy day exploring.
Weâd recommend Farm Cottage without hesitation and hope to be back sometime in the future.
My husband and I and his brother shared this cottage so we had loads of space as there are 3 double rooms and a large single. We loved the cosy character of the cottage. As we were down in Cornwall to complete some more of the South Coast Path as part of a charity walk comfort after our challenging trek was important to us. The large entrance hall/second living area was ideal for storing boots and walking gear. The large kitchen with its big dining table, great for large groups was really well equipped and the lounge was so comfortable with its big sofas and armchairs. We didnât need to light the fire as the weather was mostly fine during our stay but I can imagine itâs lovely on a Winterâs night. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable and the extra shower room would be very useful for larger parties. One of the things that impressed me most was the quality of the furnishings. We stay in rented holiday accommodation about four or five times a year and always joke about the ubiquitous brown leather sofas and cheap cutlery and crockery in most places but at Farm Cottage it was more John Lewis than ikea. The sofa covers, curtains and bedding were immaculate and and obviously good quality. There was an extensive range of crockery, again, not the cheap and cheerful variety. I also loved the paintings and artwork about the house.
The location was great for us as it was so close to the coastal path and also to the Ship Inn where we enjoyed a couple of good dinners.
We had two cars with us, a Nissan Duke which fitted quite easily into the parking area, and a Land Rover Discovery which didnât but it was easy enough to park in the main car park just up the street.
We loved the place and would recommend Farm Cottage for both family and adult groups.
The sun always shines in Portloe! This wonderful home gets the sun on the front porch every morning and round by the side all afternoon. It really is a gorgeous little haven in the uniquely quiet and beautiful Portloe - the perfect holiday home for up to 7 people. So comfy and geared up for all ages, but the view over the sea from the kitchen window really steals the show.
Fantastic pub up the road called The Ship with a brilliant pub on a Friday night!
Stunning coastal walks just 5 minutes from the front door.
Couldn't recommend more, and will definitely be coming back to Farm Cottage.
We have recently returned from a week in Farm Cottage in Portloe. Ages ranged from 8-80 and we feel the property and location catered for all of us very well. The house is very homely and provided everything you could need especially in the kitchen. The location of the property was perfect, we went for May half term and used to feeling busy where ever you go but coming back to the cottage and village at the end of the day was very peaceful. The immediate location is ideal for walks and even evening swims. A great base for trips a little further out and lovely days were spent at St Mawes, Portscatho, The lost gardens of Heligan, St Michaels Mount and more. The owners recommended Carol next door for scones and pasties and we ordered pasties in advance for a day out that were delicious! One problem whilst we there which was dealt with immediately and we had a large car so unloaded at the property then parked in the village car park which was only a 5 min walk and was a lovely walk through the village. All the family from grandchildren to grandparents enjoyed the holiday and house immensely. Will hopefully be back.
Amazing week at farm cottage. Really lovely place in a picturesque village.
Great place for families, we took our 2 month old and our dog. Really nice places to eat locally, especially the hidden hut towards portscatho. Also had great fish and chips in mevagissey and fun trip to Falmouth
We had a lovely stay in the house and were brave enough (to the shock of the locals) to be swimming in the harbour daily and leaping off the harbour wall. The variable weather presented us with some brisk coastal walks and also some time to enjoy drinks on the patio. The house is very well provisioned and comfortable - perfect for all weathers, and was a great size for our party of 7 (ages 5 â 73!). Whilst there are no local shops within walking distance, it really is just a short drive away to the local shops and surrounding areas and the charming country lanes make the drive worthwhile and lots to do within a 20-30 minute drive. St Mawes, Falmouth, Truro and the Lost Gardens of Heligan were all within an easy distance â otherwise there is a regular bus service in the village, albeit we didnât use it, it operated regularly. The locals are lovely and are happy to have a chat in the middle of lane, a marked difference coming from suburban London! Whilst there is sufficient space for two or three cars, as per other reviewers, a wide or long car will be tricky to park â ours suffering from a couple of scrapes on the wheels and body. It was a wonderful week away and I suspect Portloe will be just as charming in winter as it was in summer!

We live in London and have grown up children. My husband and I both work, but spend most of our holidays at our cottage in Portloe and feel very much a part of the community. Farm Cottage is our second home and as such we have tried to make it as comfortable as possible. Our objective is to keep it that way and so we make the cottage available for rent to help cover costs.
We love Farm Cottage and Portloe because of its location and the beauty of The Roseland. My husband has deep family ties to this part of Cornwall so for him being here is like coming home. We love the boating the fishing the tennis and the cliff and beach walks. Farm Cottage is very well situated if you want to dine out or simply have a drink in a sunny garden or terrace. The Ship Inn and The Lugger Hotel are both within 200m up and down the hill. We enjoy regular visits to The Hidden Hut. The famous attractions of The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan not far away. For those whose idea of paradise is a beautiful beach with hardly anyone on it - you have come to the right place.
Farm Cottage is an old stone cottage that we have largely rebuilt and modernised as our second home. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy being here. If you happen to play tennis we are very fortunate to have a great tennis club just up the road in Veryan. Court booking can be accessed online on the Veryan & Roseland Tennis Club - clubspark.lta.org.uk
