Wonderful chateau in the perfect location. Ideal place for unwinding and enjoying peace, tranquility and good food (the local chef is an excellent option)
Chateau Cardou was the base for a wonderful holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent house, its pool, tennis and surroundings. Although rural and private the supermarket is only 10 minutes away. The place is clean and well maintained and big. Plenty of room for all of us! Great area of France. I'd recommend it highly!
Dear Joanna and Bill
Thank you so much for loaning us Chateau Cardou. We truly had a wonderful time and the house was perfectly appointed for all our needs. The house is really well equipped and Your attention to detail with the children's cots / plastic cups plates and spoons / and toy cupboard was a lovely addition. The house more than exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it to families / large parties who like to be both together but with space to be apart. The swimming pool and tennis court were enjoyed by all. The piano is also beautiful.
Best wishes Suzannah
Chateau Cardou is a magnificent property with beautiful bedrooms and living rooms throughout. It is clearly an authentic chateau but it's also clear that it was completely renovated recently and is in excellent condition with a modern kitchen well decorated throughout. It really is the most magnificent property we have stayed in.
We had three families staying here with nine children. The upstairs is a large open space with half a dozen bedrooms all round. This became the kids space. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room, dining room, we could seat all 15 of us here in one go and larger bedrooms. There are utilities and a table tennis table in the basement. Outside there is a decent sized heated outdoor pool, gardens and tennis court and with all these facilities we could have kept the family happy at the Chateau all week.
Nearby we could explore the woods and nearby vinyards. The fields around were a mixture including vines and sunflowers and the property is set a little way off the "main" road so we didn't have to worry about anyone running into the road and it was quite private.
The local area is not the most interesting I have found in France but we went caneoing on the river, did some rock climbing, explored the local castle and longer trips to Rocamadour and the caves for the more spectacular.
We have been concerned about stories of fake listings on Owners Direct and for completeness, the property is owned by Joanna & Stuart a rather posh, mature English couple who clearly spend a lot of time in France. If they are in England they will supply a phone number with a Newbury, Berkshire area code and I recommend that you speak to Joanna who will also supply the web address and details of their other properties.
