Lovely house in quiet countryside

The house is very pleasing, spacious but warm. You can see the sea. It was quiet but the drive to Cloyne is easy and quick. We loved it - just what we wanted.

Stunning beauty in a bucolic setting

A home away from home in an absolutely magical setting. The beds were comfortable and the views from every window are lovely. The fully stocked kitchen made preparing delicious dinners after a day's adventures so pleasant. Cozy fires in the evening were another highlight. Having a washing machine also meant we could pack fewer clothes and save room in our suitcases for the many, many books we just couldn't resist from Cork's bookstores! We feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here.

Tolles Haus in super Lage

Beautiful home with amazing views, incredibly quiet

This home is beautiful. It has an open floor plan with exposed beams and it is filled with natural lighting. You can view the ocean from the house and can hear the surf if you are outside. I have never been anywhere so peaceful and quiet. We absolutely loved our relaxing stay here, walking the beach and visiting Cloyne for groceries. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend to others.

Great time at a great place

We really enjoyed our two weeks stay at this place with its impressive view. Particularly the thoughtfully designed house was amazing. And the large garden was a unique place for our two little girls.

Brilliant first family holiday

Absolutely amazing stay. Everything is thought of and milk and tea all left for your arrival. There was stunning views and truly was absolute peace and quiet. Lovely quiet beach is a five minute drive which the kids loved collecting stones at and we also enjoyed visiting Fota Wildlife Park & Trobolgan which are short drives away. We were worried about finding the property as it is in the middle of the country and isolated but the property is very easy to find. If you just type in the postcode alone into google maps it takes you straight to the front gates! It was beautiful at night to lie on the grass and look up at the stars with no other light pollution, breath-taking! Can’t wait to come back, would recommend this property to anyone!!!

Very warm and welcoming

When we arrived we had tea cakes and champagne waiting for us which put a huge smile on our faces as we were on our honeymoon. The only issues we had which w erent really issues is the house is a drive from a lot of places and there was a lot of dust and spiders whoch got my allergies going. The view trumped that all and overall the experience waa wonderful.

A beautiful coastal hideaway - just magical!

A wonderful holiday in a fabulous spot. Alison was so helpful with lots of information about the cottage and area before we booked which helped us with our holiday planning and we couldn't have wished for a better cottage for our holiday. Peaceful, stunning sea views and watching the rabbits hopping around the garden nibbling grass made our children's day! Great base for a family, tonnes of lovely places and beaches to visit nearby, we could have happily stayed much longer and would definitely like to return.

fabulous retreat in quiet, picturesque, east Cork coastal countryside

We booked Ait mo Chroi for the week of 9/11, as we had plans to go to Donegal for the second week. Our original plan was to spend the 3rd week in an Airbnb in West Cork, however we loved Ait mo Chroi so much we cancelled our Airbnb in West Cork and stayed at Ait Mo Chroi for the last week. Ait mo Chroi is absolutely spotlessly clean and decorated tastefully throughout. The location is perfect for solitude and peace and quiet, walks on the beach, nights under the stars and breakfast at Ballymaloe Cafe. It is located a short drive from Midleton (the nearest big town). Cloyne is a smaller town, a short trip away approx 3km, there is a great "Market Cafe" for breakfast and lunch, super friendly, great food and service. We had dinner at Harty's Bar and Restaurant in Cloyne late one evening after driving all the way from the Ceide Fields in County Mayo- delicious homemade irish stew-it is not a fancy bar, but the food, service and beer is excellent and it is very close to Ait mo Chroi. We dined at Ballymaloe a few evenings; probably the best meals I have ever had, again very close to Ait mo Chroi. If you fancy cooking, the kitchen is spotless, well equipped with basics including dishwasher, microwave, gas stove and oven-with plenty of utensils and cooking tools at your disposal. Since we travelled from the USA with limited luggage, thus limited clothing for 3 weeks we found the washing machine and clothes drying rack invaluable at Ait Mo Chroi. My husband had conference calls for work during the first week and so the wifi at Ait Mo Chroi was crucial for us, the service is excellent and we streamed movies at night. Upon arrival the first week Brid had left us some coffee/tea and milk and some homemade cup cakes-a very nice gesture and very delicious. The second week Brid had left us some wine and again, coffee, tea and milk-a very nice welcome. I think Brid is a huge reason why Ait Mo Chroi is such a great place, Brid keeps the house meticulously clean and tidy and makes it very comfortable and welcoming. There is a huge bathtub in the ensuite bedroom which completely submerges the bather and a fantastic shower in the main bathroom. Each arrival Brid had very kindly set the fire for us so all we had to do was light a match-the fire warms the entire house. I could not quite figure out the heating but we did not need it as the house was super warm and cosy. It was a delight working with Tim re bookings. We will be back! Can't recommend it enough! J & A

Absolute Peace & Tranquility

If peace and tranquility is what you seek, the house is the place to find it. If you would like to experienced absolute stillness and silence, here is your spot. The property is absolutely beautiful and you will find it at the end of a small lane, nestled in some fields near the Celtic Sea. The house inside is well appointed-- every detail has been thought out, and everything you will need for a comfortable stay is at your fingertips. The owner and the property manager were most helpful, and responded immediately if we had any questions. After a long night of travel, we very much appreciated the thoughtfulness of coffee, milk and cake for our breakfast the next day. The East Cork area has many opportunities for hiking, sight seeing and exploring. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ballycotton cliff hike, visiting the Blarney Castle, the gardens at the Lismore House and walking along the Ballycroneen Beach near the house and eating at Darina Allen's restaurant at Ballymaloe. My family will treasure the memories we created here.

It does exactly what it says on the tin

A detailed description of Ait Mo Chori is unnecessary in the review as the owners description, and many pictures provided capture the many facilities and the peace and tranquillity of the location. The booking process was really easy, with the owner responding quickly, communicating clearly and happy to answer any questions we had. This was particularly important as we booked at short notice! Once we had paid the fee plus the £100 refundable deposit the owner emailed further detailed instructions for the house and including detailed directions for the house (plus GPS co-ordinates for those who prefer a technological solution). The house is cleaned prior to your arrival and the cleaner left out some tea equipment, cake and a pint of milk in the fridge. It was a lovely welcome. The house also comes with numerous maps and guidebooks of the area which we were welcome to borrow. Although the property is in an isolated area, it only took fifteen minutes to drive to the main road and therefore was really handy for the local attractions. The kitchen was really well provisioned, and had a very large range of utensils for use. We really enjoyed being away from a TV for a week and in any event we took our laptop so could watch DVDs in the evening. This also allowed us to do further research on the excellent wifi. As you would expect in a rural location, the roads can be narrow but were genuinely in good condition. The farm track which runs the last few hundred metres to the property is quite potholed and at one point climbs quite steeply. We loved the lack of light pollution and enjoyed stargazing on those nights on which we were lucky enough to not be clouded over. In summary it is an excellent property and I would strongly recommend it to anyone considering taking a holiday in this peaceful part of the world.

Peace and tranquility

My boyfriend was doing the 12 week certificate at the famous Ballymaloe cooking school. We found and booked the cottage through Tim for three months and arrived in early May with a car load of stuff and great expectations. The cottage didn't disappoint. The rooms were light and airy and we instantly felt at home, finding all the things we needed from books and saucepans to sheets and towels. On cooler evenings we lit the first and watched movies on Netflix, via the newly-installed (and most excellent) broadband. And on warmer evenings we walked down to the beach and watched the ships heading out to the atlantic. Our stay was entirely comfortable and peaceful and I would thoroughly recommend both the Vickers family and their beautiful home to anyone who wants a quiet get away.

Home away from home

We had a brilliant stay. The house was exactly as per description provided and very clean and comfortable. Most of all it was very peaceful and family friendly. Our property back in our home country is rural based so we were after something quiet and within easy commute to Cork City as it was a working holiday. Pleased to say that it delivered on both fronts.

lovely retreat

Lovely house with great view down to the sea. Great location for exploring; Cork, Blarney, Cobh, all short distances away, even the Ring of Kerry isn't too far. The track down to the sea is a bit misleading as it's all fenced off with barbed wire so you have to crawl underneath and then trespass on someone's land, alternatively it's only a 5 minute drive to get to the beach and parking is free.

We manage the property on behalf of my parents, who are retired, my father is the architect who designed and built the house. We live in Oxford, in the UK, I work as a coach and my husband works for a charity and we have two daughters. We love Ireland, for the house and its surroundings, the peace and quiet and the lovely people.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Absolute peace and quiet in rolling east Cork countryside but within easy reach of local attractions - the Ballymaloe Hotel and cookery school, Ballycotton Harbour, the Jameson whisky centre in Midleton and Cobh and Cork harbour.
Light and airy architect-designed house for four, set amongst rolling farmland with views of the sea. Brilliant for a family holiday with easy access to a mile-long sandy beach.

Situated at the end of a quite lane, Ait Ma Chroi offers absolute peace. The house has a large double height, light-filled open living area with wooden floors and views of the countryside and sea. A wood-burning stove making it warm and cosy even in the winter.

To the front of the house, facing south to the sea, is an open garden giving onto the fields, while a sheltered courtyard at the rear catches the late afternoon sun.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Two bedrooms – one double en-suite and one twin with adjacent shower room provide comfortable accommodation for four, with a travel cot if required

The mile long quiet sandy beach at Ballycroneen West is just a short drive away – perfect for rock-pooling, paddling and swimming. There are a number of golf courses in the area and sailing in Cork Harbour is within a short drive. The beautiful fishing village of Ballycotton is a 15 minute drive – and is well worth the visit to see the catch come in, walk along the coastal path and visit the nearby the nationally renowned Ballymalloe House Hotel and Restaurant. The village of Cloyne is a 10minute drive away for basic shopping and the lively market town of Middleton has a good range of restaurants, bars and a great Saturday farmers markert.
