Great location, Jill and Richard were very welcoming helpful and informative about the area, facilities and events. Neffies is close to Pezenaz which is a great town with plenty of shops and restaurants. It has a very good Saturday market which we went to several times. JIllâs guide book is really useful
We had a lovely stay at Jill and Richard's gite this summer, with our two boys. They were so welcoming and the gite is very well stocked with everything you need. It is a beautiful area, a perfect location, close to the coast and many other wonderful things to see. Lovely local restaurants and a boulangerie for breakfast!
Jill and Richard were excellent hosts, greeting us with a kitchen stocked with goodies (wines, bread, milk, fresh juice, fruit & vegetable). The house was impeccably clean, which was highly reassuring given the current times. Jill and Richard were discreet, respectful and always available should we need anything. The pool was lovely and the outdoor area ideal for summer lunches and dinners (+ perk to have the BBQ). We would highly recommend this stay, as it is not only deeply relaxing, but also central to loads of wineries and outdoor sights. Will definitely come back!
We are a family consisting of 2 adults and 3 children aged 11-12-13 years. We had the most amazing summer holiday in this beautiful holiday home in Neffies.
Super cosy little town and a really nice WELL-equipped house with a lovely pool and really great terrace/courtyard with both sun loungers and dining area. Ideal interior design of the house with many cosy details, and especially a nice kitchen with everything you need. Very clean and well-maintained house, with nice beds, bathrooms, barbecue, tv, pool toys, parking right at the door - and everything you could wish for.
In addition, we, and especially our children, enjoyed the company of the host couple's cute little dog, who is incredibly child-friendly and calm. And no need to worry if you don't like dogs, because we were asked every time if it was ok for the dog to come and say hello to us.
We have never met such SWEET, pleasant and attentive hosts as Jill and Richard. We were welcomed SO well from the moment we booked the house. Bread, fruit, juice, butter, cheese and wine were waiting for us when we arrived after a long drive. Really thoughtful. And Jill was very helpful in assisting with e.g. booking restaurant visits and wine tasting, as well as ideas for experiences and excursions in the local area.
We can only give our absolute best and warmest recommendations for this wonderful holiday home and incredible sweet host couple in Neffies.
We would definitely book again!
und liebevolle Gastgeber. Ruhig gelegen, schön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Es ist alles da, was das Herz begehrt - sogar eine Waschmaschine!
Vielen Dank - wir kommen gerne wieder!
We spent two full weeks in the property de Jill and Richard in Neffies and we had a wonderfull time. Thanks to Jill and Richard. The property is completely equiped with everything you can think off. The beds are very confortable and all the linen supplied is of extremely good quality. The bread, wine and cheese as present on arrival are a very nice touch. Thank you again and hope to come back soon
Well equipped property, very clean, lots of little extras have been thought about. Kitchen well equipped for those that like cooking. Great hosts who are available for any questions. Thanks to Jill for booking local restaurant, where we had a lovely meal! Pretty village too!
A very nice Gite, which was a home from home with everything you needed available. It was a lot larger than we expected, so lots of space for everyone. We had a nice relaxing week with family, a couple of days out and plenty of time around the small pool which is a bonus to cool down from the heat of the day. The Gite was even cool during the day which helped make it comfortable. Lovely hosts Jill & Richard who where discreet but on hand to help with any advice, questions or table bookings. A big recommendation from me and the family.
We stayed for a week with two young children and had a lovely time.
Gill & Richard are considerate and discrete hosts and very good a accomodating our specific needs and making suitable recommendations for activities and restaurants.
Neffies is a very pretty village in a beautiful location ideal for site-seeing and wine-tasting. Lovely beaches are within easy reach and the short drive to Montpelier airport made for easy transfers.
The gite is in excellent condition with a kitchen kitted out by someone who likes to cook, along with basics like oil, seasoning and tin foil etc, it makes life very easy.
The court yard garden is a lovely spot to sunbathe or enjoy a meal with a glass of wine whilst watching the swifts overhead.
Our group of four adults stayed in this Gite for four nights on the start of our way through France and into Italy for a family wedding. What a great start to our holiday. It is such a relaxing and peaceful place, with a great pool and courtyard. The Gite is spacious and well equipped with everything you might need.
Jill and Richard are the perfect owners who helped us with many things including directions to places, interpreting, and directing us to the best wine shops!
Thank Jill and Richard, we will return soon.
Pat, Tony, Pat and Mick.
We have just had a fantastic fortnight in this villa. It is well equipped with everything you could need and more! The very generous welcome pack (including wine, fruit and essentials such as coffee, milk, bread etc) was most appreciated. Jill and Richard were fantastic hosts and their recommendations of places to eat, sights to see, and local events were all 'spot on' and enabled us to make the most of our visit. The village of Neffies is beautiful with two good restaurants, a bakery and a small supermarket. We made full use of the lovely pool and barbecue and found the outside area perfect for both the sun lovers in our party and those of us who prefer a shady spot to read a book or chill out with a beer or wine. We were all sorry to leave after our fortnight and will be recommending th villa to family and friends.
A lovely gite in an excellent area. We wanted a gite in a village location central for sight seeing and we were not disappointed. The gite was clean and very well equipped. The pool, courtyard and eating area was a nice place to relax with friends and we made good use of the BBQ. The owners Jill and Richard lived on site and clearly wanted their guests to get the most out of their holiday. Jill had put together a comprehensive tourist information folder, including details about the village, local attractions and events. We loved the village restaurant Le Very'table and had fantastic meals there at reasonable cost. We have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone wanting good accommodation in this beautiful area of France!
We've stayed at a number of properties selected from Owners Direct, and this one is up there with the best. I endorse the comments of the other review: the gite is of a large size with plenty of room indoors and out. Bedrooms are a good size. And the place was spotlessly clean. Having the private pool right by the door is fantastic - it's cold when you get in but worth it! Provision of pool towels and pool toys is a great idea by Jill and Richard.
The courtyard is not huge but comfortable for 4-6 sunbathers (remember the sun doesn't get as high in Sept and probably May, so there will be shade). And definitely big enough for BBQ, meals outside etc.
Jill and Richard are great hosts. They live on site but respect your privacy and space, but are available for advice or help if you need it. There is lots of tourist info in the gite, along with a very full and informative folder, from when the rubbish is collected to where to visit to local restaurants in a variety of villages.
The kitchen is very well equipped and you could easily prepare and cook all your meals here. Jill and Richard provided a good basic larder which included wine (basic?), water, juice, fruit, cheese, milk, bread plus tea/coffee, and oil, condiments etc. But eat out... L'Escampette and L'Very Table in the village are fantastic but book in advance. Jill booked our first night table for us and took a load of worry off!
I completely agree with all the comments on the site about location to towns, tourist sites etc. It is a perfect base to explore the area. 90 mins to Carcasonne, 45 mins to Montpelier, 30 mins to the beach and not that far from mountains, vineyards etc.
Jill, Richard, and spaniel Zac, loaded themselves, and whatever else they could fit in, into their car, and began their French Odyssey in 2009. Strangers to the Languedoc region, they were drawn to the Mediterranean landscape, lifestyle, culture, and the lure of 300 days of sunshine a year. They weren't disappointed. Finding a neglected converted wine barn, they applied their varied talents into creating a home for themselves and a holiday rental, which woud be a home for others. With backgrounds in furniture making and TV production, plus Zac's ability to dig holes, the project was bound to succeed! Decide for yourselves: they haven't looked back, and look forward to welcoming you to share their sun-drenched, secluded retreat.
We genuinely care about our guests, from attention to detail, to providing a welcome pack, and advising about whatever attractions suit your needs, we will go out of our way to help you. Previous guests have commented about how well-equipped, and how clean, the gite is: providing a home-from-home for you is important to us. The accommodation is spacious, and remains cool even in the height of summer. It is also quiet and tranquil, with all the benefits of a well-appointed village on your doorstep.
After tumbling into the pool from inside the gite, you then have the choice of two excellent eating venues within 5 minutes walking distance - leave your car behind and relax into village life. We are also well-placed between mountains, sea, lakes, rivers, gorges, the Canal du Midi, vibrant cities, historic towns and picturesque villages. And if that's not enough, there are family attractions too. You won't have enough time to explore the richness the area has to offer, but you can try!
