La Grenouille Verte, fermette française en pierre, nichée dans le hameau tranquille de Vimpère. Grande cuisine familiale et grand salon meublé. 2 chambres doubles, 1 à lits jumeaux, 1 grande salle de bains familiale avec baignoire et douche indépendante. À l'extérieur : grand jardin clos disposant de beaucoup d'espace pour se détendre et profiter de la tranquillité de la campagne, piscine privée (5,4 x 3,3 m) avec terrasse en bois et transats, coin a l'ombre pour jouer à la pétanque, badminton ou croquet.

Profitez encore plus de vos vacances en me laissant vous faire la cuisine, de délicieux mets fraîchement préparés peuvent être servis à n'importe quel moment de votre séjour. En prévision des mois les plus froids, nous avons un chauffage central et un poêle à bois.

La maison, les jardins et la piscine sont vraiment très agréables et nous avons adoré notre semaine. Ruth et John sont disponibles si besoin et veillent à vous laisser votre intimité. Nous recommandons chaudement la grenouille verte !

Un très grand jardin, bien agencé. Une piscine et de nombreuses randonnées. Cuisine anglaise sur demande (cheese cake). Très bien en famille !

Perfect getaway

We rented a lovely house in the Dordogne region in France for a week. The owners were super friendly, making us feel welcome right away. The house was in a beautiful, peaceful setting and had everything we needed, including a wonderful pool. It was the perfect getaway!

Fabulous holiday

Fantastic gite. We loved the gardens and the pool was amazing. A great space for all family members. A peaceful and tranquil location and ideal for visiting sites and cities. Ruth and John are most welcoming and helpful, we enjoyed our chats. Hope to return in the future, highly recommended.

Prachtige plek met zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame gastheer en -vrouw.

Wij hebben twee heerlijke weken gehad. Prachtige plek voor wie van rust en de natuur houdt. Mooie gite voorzien van alles wat je nodig hebt in authentieke stijl. De beheerders zijn gastvrij, behulpzaam en bescheiden. Staan paraat waar nodig, maar laten je verder met rust als je daar behoefte aan hebt. Op de dag van aankomst en van vertrek genoten van een heerlijke maaltijd bereid door de gastvrouw. Verder genoten van het privé zwembad dat er iedere dag perfect bij lag. Mooie natuur om in te wandelen of te fietsen. Bakker en supermarkt op 6 km. afstand. Een echte aanrader!

Fijne huisje in schitterende omgeving

Fijne en ruime en nogal 'landelijke' vakantiewoning in het hart van een groot natuurgebied (Perigord-Limousin). Grote tuin tot je beschikking met klein zwembad. Erg mooie wandelingen gemaakt in de buurt die ook geschikt zijn voor kinderen. Eigenaren zijn erg aardig en toegankelijk. Ruth kan op aanvraag ook volledige avondmaaltijden bereiden: aanrader!

A slice of relaxed rural France

Ruth and John have created a fantastic holiday destination, we didn’t want to leave. From the moment we arrived the pace of life slowed, and we felt we could relax and make the property our home for two weeks. With its 3 garden spaces: BBQ and dining space at the front, a quiet private garden (with hammock) to the rear, and the main garden space to the side, with pool, badminton space, lawns, frogs and pond, vine shaded area… there’s so much to do, so may spaces, there’s room for everyone in the group. And that’s just the outside… there’s a big kitchen and dining space, and a large living room, all with those typically French furnishings, and original features. And if all of the above doesn’t get you… Ruth will cook for you! There are menus, and Ruth can amend to suit your tastes… fabulous food… can’t recommend it enough! Thank you Ruth and John! Hope to be back!

Rural character property close to outdoor pursuits

Ruth and John are fabulous hosts, thank you for sharing your idyllic corner of France. The area is beautiful with lots of outdoor activities. The house is spacious with lovely decor and well equipped. The garden is perfect for relaxing with a pool, barbeque area, shaded areas for the children to play and seating for relaxing. I can't recommend Ruth and John's property enough.

Gezellig huisje met veel ruimte binnen en buiten. De keuken was mijn favoriete plek.

Even met de kids er uit. Wat was dit een geweldige plek! De kinderen konden heerlijk ontdekken in de grote tuin. Van hieruit kon je naar de dierentuin, de grotten, het bekende dorp in oradeur-sur-Glane op 45 minuten rijden. Of naar de grote markt in Piegut of wandelen bij het meer. En als je thuis kwam kon de gastvrouw een geweldige maaltijd voorschotelen als je dat had afgesproken. Dat was genieten en zo fijn! Geweldige hosts die je goeie tips kan geven over de buurt. In Marval gingen we naar de bakker. We hebben genoten!! Het was een heerlijke rustige vakantie!! Zou graag een keer terug komen!

Peaceful and relaxing location

We had very relaxing week. The house was charming and more spacious than we imagined, plenty of room for 5 of us. The huge garden was amazing and when the weather was hot you wouldn't want to be anywhere else, it was just perfect. You could relax by the pool in the sun loungers or find a shady spot to yourself somewhere in the garden. Our children loved the pool and also made use of the swing ball, badminton and swing. We had a couple of days when the weather wasn't so good but it made us venture out to a nearby lake that had treetop adventures (like GoApe), which was a great day out. Ruth and John were on hand if you needed them but left us to enjoy the house and gardens as we wanted. Also a big thank you to Ruth who helped us out on our first day when we forgot French supermarkets closed at midday on a Sunday! We especially appreciated the complementary bottle of rose in the fridge.

Perfect rural retreat

We recently stayed 3 nights at La Grenouille Verte. Arriving very late in the dark and in the pouring rain we weren't really able to appreciate how nice the setting is. Ruth and John had been kind enough to prepare us some food on our arrival and get us a much needed bottle or two of wine! On our second night we had an excellent 3-course meal prepared for us by Ruth and John, along with some lovely paired wines. The house is very well maintained and clean. There is ample room for 6 people (we were a group of 4), with a large kitchen (very well stocked with pots/pans/utensils/glasses/etc), large lounge with a log burner, a large bathroom and separate toilet along with 3 good sized bedrooms (1 king, 1 double, 1 twin). The gardens are immaculately maintained and is the weather was good I imagine would be a nice place to relax with a glass of wine! Ruth and John are great hosts and the place represents excellent value for money. We would definitely return there in the future.

Well equipped, superb garden

Quiet hamlet 20 mins from large village with decent supermarket and excellent boulangerie/patissierie. Plenty to see in area, chateaux, caves, villages on the best in France list. Three comfortable bedrooms upstairs, bathroom downstairs but not far away. Big kitchen with dining table for 6+, great lounge with 2 big sofas. Books everywhere, board games provided, every kitchen utensil you might need. Enormous garden with games- badminton, boules, swing-ball. Pool great for cooling down in heat of summer but house is good for stay anytime of year. Marvelous welcome from Ruth and John with super meal on first night at very reasonable cost.

A wonderful family holiday at La Grenouille Verte

We had a wonderful family holiday at La Grenouille Verte. The house was full of French character with all necessary living requirements, including indoor and outdoor towels. the setting was beautiful and the pool was perfect. Indeed our five year old swam without floats or noodles ( provided ) by the end of the week. The children loved the "Secret Garden" and helping John pump water from the well to water the plants. Ruth and John gave a real welcome and our meal on arrival was perfect and sufficient to run into the next day. Their advice on visits were spot on, and the wine tasting was a perfect way to celebrate a birthday. Everything about our week at La Grenouille was beyond expectation. Thanks Ruth and John

Beatifully furnished and decorated house with pool and large gardens

The spacious house is beautifully decorated and furnished. The beds were comfortable with crisp clean white sheets. The book shelves are packed with books and there are many interesting pictures hanging on the walls. We found the house clean and had all the mod cons needed for a comfortable holiday. The kitchen was well equipped and the towels provided (bath and pool) were nice and plush. The lovely gardens are large.There is a swing in a large oak tree, badminton net and set, swing ball, but the pool was the favourite with us. Ruth and John made us feel very welcome. They were very helpful but always respected our privacy. Ruth cooked us a meal on the last night there. And I can honestly say it was the best meal we'd had in two weeks. I highly recommend Ruth's cooking. There's a variety of things to do in the area. We visited Limoges, châteaus, went on a walk round the nearby forest and went to a tree top adventure park (like GoApe). We really enjoyed our stay here.

Another Memorable Family Holiday

This was our second stay at La Grenouille Verte and, despite the rain, we had such fun. Every day we explored new markets towns and chateaux, there is so much to do in the area! John and Ruth were, as ever, wonderful hosts and their wine evening was a blast!

Spacious holiday house

The house was very comfortable with lots of room and very well equipped , the gardens and pool were wonderful to spend time in with the family , we enjoyed eating outside in the evenings watching the stars and the wildlife . Ruth's excellent meals were especially welcome after along drive. This was a very beautiful part of France and we look forward to returning to Le Grenouille Vert .

Rlaxing stay in idylic setting

I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a perfect setting. The house had everything we needed and was well maintained and spotlessly clean. John and Ruth were on hand and we were met with homemade cakes on our arrival. The gardens and pool were perfect as we had great weather and we BBQ most evenings. Lovely family getaway.

Great experience of la France Profonde!

This gite is exactly as it is described - and more. The 3 gardens you can relax in are massive, with games to play, a pool and barbecue. The house is spacious, comfortable and made special with many thoughtful touches. Your hosts are friendly, always helpful and on hand - especially with Ruth's excellent cooking if you want to 'eat in'. We had a perfectly lovely holiday and rarely wanted to ' venture forth' though we consider it a fascinating, almost undiscovered part of France.

John and I used to take holidays in France, usually in Normandy but we also ventured further south on occasion. We loved the more relaxed pace of life and the feeling of space you find here and the politeness of the French people. So we formulated a loose five year plan to sell up in England and move to France permanently. After two years, we could not remember what we were waiting for and put our house on the market! We arrived in May 2010 and found this house soon after, it needed some work and updating before we were happy that we had somewhere other people would like too.

We are a relaxed couple, (who wouldn't be living here?!) we enjoy our lives just the way they are. We are friendly and approachable and will be only too happy to help you have a great holiday, We will be delighted to meet you if you feel that you will enjoy this experience too.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

When we first saw the house it felt right, we were looking for two properties, one for us to live in and one we could let out as a holiday home. The house had been empty and unloved for several years so we needed to give it back some character, it also became our home for the first year as we began the task of turning the barn next door into our home. We love this part of France, it is green and peaceful and very much an escape from the speed of modern life, we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

We are not a gite complex so you are not sharing a peaceful location with others or all trying to use the pool at the same time! If you are looking for quiet, then we are certain you will find it here. Sometimes, sitting outside, all you can hear are the birds.

The living areas inside the house are light and airy and there is so much outside space you need never feel over crowded. At the same time we are not far from amenities and places of interest and the roads are so quiet it is a pleasure to travel around.
