Cette grande terrasse victorienne dort 16 personnes dans 7 chambres joliment dĂ©corĂ©es et comprend une salle de bal, un grand salon et une cuisine confortable, idĂ©al pour un grand groupe se rĂ©unir. Il est situĂ© au-dessus du port de travail de ce village de pĂȘcheurs et d'une vue panoramique sur l'ocĂ©an accueillent les occupants de chaque Ă©tage de la propriĂ©tĂ©. Il y a une terrasse extĂ©rieure avec des siĂšges et des meubles de salle Ă  manger et une vue imprenable.

Un espace et des installations exceptionnels crĂ©ent la destination idĂ©ale pour les grands groupes. Les chambres sont dĂ©corĂ©es individuellement, les espaces de vie sont confortables et modernes, tout en respectant l'hĂ©ritage victorien de la propriĂ©tĂ©. La salle de bal est le cadre idĂ©al pour une occasion spĂ©ciale, comme une fĂȘte d'anniversaire ou un repas d'anniversaire. We all had such a lovely break away. The house was a perfect space for all of us to come together and celebrate yet it was big enough to escape away too.The kids loved the football table and the ball we had on Christmas evening, in our very own ball room!Us adults adored the breakfast bar and the size of the kitchen. We cooked and ate like kings and queens!It was great to be so near the harbour and good dog walks for our two ancient fury friends.The hosts were really helpful too. Lovely big house in a prime location with stunning views and a short hilly walk to the harbour.Bedrooms and bathrooms spacious with nice linen. Kitchen well equipped.Lounge large with loads of books and games for the kids. In need of some TLC in places, especially the terraces. Christmas family holiday

Booking this property was easy, the property manager was on hand straight away when we had a problem with finding the place. This house sorted our needs. Lovely big kitchen and lounge area where we could enjoy all the company from a 6 to 72year old! The views are fantastic and position just great! The house itself could be wonderful. It definately needs some TLC in lots of places - thread bare carpets, football table - the players had no heads, the floor in the ballroom is lifting, grand piano with several keys not working, cracks in the sinks in the kitchen. What let it down for us was the cleanliness. Mainly thick spider webs at the windows and sky lights that would not have happened overnight, the oven! and dog hairs that were there before we got there. Other places could have done with a good clean too! We found out that the place is for sale so can understand that you wouldnt want to spend lots on it, but while letting it out just keep it clean.

Served purpose but a little tired and worn

Amazing location and views, huge house with plenty of room for a family get together. Nice, well equipped kitchen. I would only say that for the price charged the property could do with a refresh; the furniture and decoration was quite worn, carpet threadbare in places, the beds were rather small and hard, one bedroom door would not shut, one oven not working. Table footy so old it had pegs sellotaped on for missing players. We were fortunate to have a sunny week but the upstairs bedrooms got hot and were uncomfortable at night - would expect aircon at this price. Instructions for parking and recycling were confusing. Overall a reasonably pleasant stay but not perfect.

Stay at Big Sea House

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Big Sea House. The location & views were excellent, the property had the space & facilities that we needed and so we were able to enjoy our week in Ilfracombe. The property decor could be updated & there are a few things that need fixing but these did not detract from our enjoyable experience.

Family stay

This was an amazing stay, the property was beautiful. The views were amazing and the beds were so comfy. There was 16 of us in total and there was more than enough room for all of us. The children loved running around the rooms and we all enjoyed playing the games that were there when the weather wasnt good. We will be back next year as i dont think we could find anywhere better.

A few niggles

Some are only very slight issues, but add up to quite a few. Long walk to car park, made worse in the rain. Appreciate piano is old, but some of family looked forward to providing musical entertainment. Very disappointed as too many non functioning keys to play anything. Ballroom smelled musty and dank. Football table had many broken pieces. Outside wicker seating tacky and with holes. Cushions in need of a very good clean. Plants growing over eating area. Some missing sink plugs. Hard to wash up in kitchen sinks as plugs don't hold water. Very high pressure in some cold taps. Some, especially children soaked as water quickly splashed out of sinks. Empty soap/body wash containers. Nowhere to dry clothes either inside or out - some form of drying airer needed. Rubbish/recycling not very clear. No instructions in kitchen as mentioned. Requested to put rubbish in large blue gull proof bags in courtyard. These bags were wet & filthy. Would be better to simply leave full bin bags in utility room. On a positive note kitchen and lounge area very well appointed. Sky sports channel very much appreciated.

Perfect for group gathering!

Group of friends came together to stay here to celebrate a 50th birthday. Great space for all to stay without being on top of one another and be able to cook and eat comfortably. Amazing views and not too far away from the harbour for a stroll for an ice cream! Would definitely book again!

Family and friends birthday week

We had 14 of us staying over the week including 12 20 to 22 year olds who loved the house not just for its space and views but also its proximity to swimming beaches, Wetherspoons pub, crazy golf, and the bigger beach for beach cricket at Woollacombe. Another wonderful week in Ilfracombe

Big Sea House Ilfracombe

The setting and views from this property are great as is the communal space available. The kitchen area is similarly spacious and very well equipped. The property manager was very helpful and responsive and happily arranged an earlier check in time for our group. That all said, for the price paid the property is very tired and desperately needs some urgent TLC. The carpets and furniture need replacing, the walls and woodwork redecorating and new curtains are a must (they do not cut out the daylight and in several bedrooms are held up by sticky tape. For the price paid we have stayed in similarly impressive locations with much superior quality. We did enjoy the break but it was only a short break. Any longer the property would have felt a compromise.

Perfect week away!

Absolutely loved staying at the Big Sea House! Hugely accommodating for such a large group with amazing views. The only downside is that there weren't any cleaning supplies to help us stay on top of tidying. Aside from this, it was the perfect property for a large group and we all had a fun and relaxing time! Big Sea House is amazing!

This is the perfect place to stay for a big family group -- we were 15. The location is spectacular (at least for us townies!) with view across the harbour. The 'ballroom' is huge. The kitchen is the best equipped we have come across, with plenty of space for us all to pitch in with preparations. Easy communication with Mike (manager). No hesitation in recommending!

Perfect house for family and friends

Absolutely stunning views and location and the house suited us so well with the amount of space and separate zones to keep kids of all ages happy! Highly recommend and such a friendly and helpful owner and caretaker to communicate with. Parking permits also provided to numerous car parks in the area which was a bonus. Will definitely stay here again.

We are a Midlands based couple who love the ocean and we bring our 3 young children to the seaside as often as possible to enjoy surfing, kayaking and being out and about in that fresh sea air. There is something about the light and air by the coast that you never experience inland.

Whether we come as a family or with friends each trip to the working harbour of Ilfracombe is always an adventure in its own right. There is nothing better than being outside in the healthy sea air enjoying quality time with your children. We are not sure whom enjoys it the most, the adults or the kids!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We love the town of Ilfracombe especially out of season when the weather whips up the sea and creates wonderful views from the property. The property is part of a former hotel and we were looking for a property that could be used to house larger groups. Now converted into a private residence, with ample accommodation for large groups, the property has been brought back to life as "Big Sea House" and we love the thought of it being occupied on a weekly basis with families and friends coming together to fill the rooms with laughter. North Devon provides a wealth of opportunities for outdoor pursuits including award winning beaches, the Heritage coastal path and Exmoor National Park.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Exceptional space and facilities create the perfect destination for large groups. The bedrooms are individually decorated, the living areas are comfortable and modern while respecting the property's Victorian heritage. The ballroom is the perfect setting for that special occasion such as a birthday party or anniversary meal. In the summer months the terrace provides an alternative location to sit down for a special meal, with a large built in BBQ and breathtaking ocean views. Light the chiminea in the evening and sit round the fire watching the ships sail by.

The property has 3 TVs (2 SKY digital boxes with Sports, Movies and Kids). Also I-pod docking station with speakers for 'party' use.
