Met on arrival and the place is wonderful. Any minor issues during our stay were addressed by the property agent straight away. Itâs a great location with loads to do on your doorstep. Just perfect.
Gorgeous property, great views, close to restaurants and attractions! Hope to be back soon!! Host was attentive and communication was excellent. They coordinated a late arrival and it was seamless. Highly recommended this property!
The mermaid cottage was quaint and perfectly situated for sunrise views of False Bay with all the amenities we needed! Janene was on hand to make check in easy and answer all of our questions. We highly recommend the cottage and plan to come back!
We loved this place! It was bright, clean and a great location (but youâll need a rental car). Everything we needed and great communication with host/manager. Canât recommend highly enough!
This house was a wonderful find. Equipped with everything youâd need for a short or medium stay. It was quiet, clean, and conveniently located to all the southern coast has to offer. Our property manager, Janine, was informative, responsive, friendly, and always helpful. Highly recommend this rental property. For those not familiar with it, Simonâs Town is a great little seaside town outside of Capetown - accessible to all the area attractions including the African penguin colony (must see) and the nearby Constanta vineyards and wineries. Really recommend this location to those seeking to avoid the larger urban setting of Capetown.
Lovely location and felt quite safe in Simonâs town
Location was excellent for Boulder Beach and Cape of good hope
Would definitely recommend to family and friends
We had a great stay at the cottage! It was within walking distance to Boulder's Beach and the little shops. The views are spectacular! And Barry made our stay even better with great recommendations and hospitality. We would definitely love to stay here again if we ever get the chance to return :)
The house was just what we needed! Location was great. Short walk to the Boulders Beach and town. A le to view whales in the bay. Janene was very helpful and responsive.
Overall was lovely we enjoyed the stay. Jen went above and beyond even had sweets and hot chocolate all setup for the kids.
Place is cold in winter maybe another heater would be great.
Charming cottage with stunning views and a great location
The cottage was lovely and welcoming. Our host was most accommodating in every way The patio has views of the ocean and the mountains and a beach frequented by a colony of penguins is just a few blocks away. Everything about our stay was restful and hassle free - we hated to leave!
Nothing bad at all to say about this house!
We met Janene, the property manager, upon arriving at Mermaid Rock Cottage. She provided fruit for our stay, and showed us around the cottage, which is lovely.
The views of False Bay are simply out of this world!
Would stay again!
Lovely place right near the heart of Simonâs Town. Good price and easy check-in/check-out. Lovely views of False Bay from the deck where we saw tons of breaching whales. Bring binoculars. No issues.
This is a lovely cottage that has all the amenities you need. Checking in with Jenni was painless and she went over everything we needed to know. We loved that we could walk to Boulder Beach and to Simons Town. We had some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Would highly recommend this property and hope to return someday.
We stayed at this lovely home for a week while visiting my daughter, an exchange student at UCT. The home is everything the photos suggest: simple, elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. It has wonderful views of False Bay and is a comfortable walk to downtown Simon's Town.
The house was clean and set up very well. Didn't need for anything. Jenni was amazing. Her recommendations for food was ON POINT!!! We lost wifi on day 2 and she tried her best to get it operational again.
We had a lovely stay. The property is very nice, great location close to penguins and easy drive to other attractions, and has great views.
The listing could be clearer that there is a cash deposit and early arrival/departure fee. Not a problem, but that only became clear later when we signed the contract.
We booked this house for the view and we really loved in. The street where the house is located is very calm, so every evening we feeled like we're the only ones out there. The barbecue ofcourse also made the outside place feel like home. The garden was maintained well. Inside the house we loved the space and the double bathroom. The contact with the host was really good.
Simply cannot fault anything - from the time of booking until checkout. Excellent service including, updates on load shedding schedules and alternative lighting and cooking options, sharing of local knowledge and responsive contact throughout our stay. Will most certainly place this property at the top of our return holiday accommodation options in the Western Cape. Thank you for delivering as advertised and adding to making this a memorable break.
We had a wonderful stay! The sunset and sunrise views over the bay was absolutely amazing from almost every window and porch of the home. My family loved the home so much that we want to buy it if it one day comes up for sale. Please let me know! The house was very well equipped with everything a guest could need. The property manager went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. Thank you so much!
Very quiet neighborhood. Walking distance from the beach (Boulders and others), sea side restaurants and downtown Simon's Town shopping and dining. Excellent manager, very responsive via WhatsApp. The only downside is the distance from downtown Cape Town but we didn't mind the ride with such wonderful views. Overall, great experience. Would come again! Kudos to Jen. â€ïž
We had a fantastic stay. We felt immediately at home. The cottage is located on a small quiet residential road. It has magnificent views, especially from its sun terrace - a perfect place to relax and read a book. Bookshelves filled with a good selection of books were much appreciated.
WIFI and Netflix were just the icing on the cake for our screen dependent teenager but the WiFi was also very helpful for the adults to connect on WhatsApp. Barry, who welcomed us at the property was very friendly and chatty. We truly loved the property and we would definitely love to stay there again on our next trip to Cape Town.
My husband and I spent 4 lovely nights in this charming cottage overlooking False Bay, in Simonâs Town, Cape Town, South Africa. It had everything we needed and the local manager who checked us in was fantastic and provided lots of recommendations for places to go, sites to see, and where to eat. We enjoyed walking down to the beach to see penguins and other wildlife. We were even once greeted by a baboon calling out from the top of a house nearby. The view is breathtaking! You can see the sunrise over the bay in the morning as you drink your coffee on the portico or from the seating area inside. The owner has numerous potted plants as well as grape vines adorning the entrance way and outdoor seating areas. There is a beautiful mosaic mermaid mural which represents the naming of the cottage. Communication before and during the stay was with both the owner and the manager was excellent. We would love to stay here again in the future. A few days here left us wanting more.
Elspeth lives in Cambridge. She settled in London from Zimbabwe 28 years ago. She is a professional running her own Management Consultancy business, a mum and is committed to the philosophy and practice of yoga. She is an Iyengar Yoga teacher. Her cottage in Cape Town dates back to Elspeth's time studying at UCT in 1982 when it was acquired into the family and many happy times have been spent there over 36 years.
We adore the quiet beauty of the area around Simon's Town and the lovely, unspoilt beaches and rugged walks immediately accessible out of the back door. The location is pretty, calm and safe; also easy to get to interesting, lesser known places anywhere on the peninsula.
From the deck watching the sunrise or sunset across the sea is very special. By night we get a magical view of stars and glittering lights across the bay. The new pergola and braai facilities on the deck offer the opportunity of meals while enjoying glorious sunlight or moonlight playing on the sea, and the movement of the waves to get a sense of the weather conditions. Alternatively breakfast or dinner in the protected area means we enjoy being outside away from wind and sun. This False Bay sea is warm, lovely for swimming. Local penguins are a delight! We may choose a breath taking walk up to the water tower behind the Cottage or the Naval Steps a little way along Runciman Drive. The quiet road and safe neighbourhood mean the children may visit the local store or Simon's Town without us worrying. On cold winter nights its cosy with curtains drawn, heating on, chilling out on comfortable sofas, dipping into nice selection of DVDs and books, with the bonus of sea view - its great!
