Excellent location to enjoy Olhao, close to the best bars, restaurants, markets and the ferry to the islands. Good sized bedroom with quiet, effective air con. Both terraces are south facing so get a lot of sun! The stairs are steep and narrow but take your time and use the handrail and you'll be fine!
This property is excellently located close to Olhao's centre and is a good place from which to explore other spots in the Algarve, along the train line. The property is small but just enough space for 1 or two people, and the roof terrace and balcony are lovely spaces for enjoying the morning and evening sunshine. Communication with the owner/ manager about the property was efficient and very pleasant.
Brilliant property in fantastic location! Bedroom being downstairs was perfect as it was lovely and cool with ensuite there also. Good bed linen and towels and apartment was well equipped. Patio doors open out onto balcony from living and kitchen are. which gets the sun mostly all day. Great roof terrace too. Yes the stairs are steep but you get used to them. So close to bars, restaurants and supermarket. Had the best time and would definitely recommend
100m from municipal market (awesome place for fish, meat and vegetables), a beautiful building, and 300m from ferry to Armona, Culatra and Farol islands, great beaches. ONLY downside is the lack of AC on top floor.
This lovely renovated fisherman's house is absolutely perfect for a winter stay. With the balcony off the lounge and the rooftop terrace you are guaranteed sun all day.We stayed for the winter so were very happy. The location is brilliant, everything is on your doorstep, including a 3 minute walk to Pingo Doce, the nearest supermarket. If you are any way infirm you need to speak with Neil before booking as the stairs are quite narrow and steep, my husband is 70 and had no problem. We had plenty of hot water when showering and the WiFi was excellent for streaming the tv. The equipment was great, but, if you intend cooking a lot, be aware there is no oven. We made do with the microwave and hob and obviously there are some fantastic restaurants to eat out at or for deliveries. We would definitely stay again.
Lovely little apartment in the heart of Olhao. Everything was in walking distance, lots of restaurants, shopping & very relaxing. Would definitely recommend.
We had a lovely stay in this quaint townhouse last week. It has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Itâs so close to the restaurants, bars, waterfront and ferries to the beautiful islands.
The communication with the owner prior to travelling was prompt and very helpful and we had no issues during our stay.
Thank you!
Neil's place is is easy to find, centrally located, has all the facilities you would need. We particularly like Olhao, the terrace off the kitchen/lounge was particularly pleasant for an early morning coffee. The roof terrace ideal for relaxing.
The only challenge is the stairs that could prove difficult for someone less able.
I recently stayed in this lovely home in the historical center of OlhĂŁo, and it was a great experience. The apartment was nicely decorated, with traditional Portuguese style, making it feel very cozy.
The location was perfectâjust a short walk to the waterfront, local markets, and some amazing restaurants. I enjoyed wandering the narrow streets filled with colorful buildings and finding hidden gems.
The host was very welcoming and They were easy to communicate with and always ready to help.
Overall, this rental was comfortable, convenient, and charming. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to explore OlhĂŁo!
Property very clean ,local manager Ze very helpful ,friendly and efficient.
Great location, handy for everything.
A high scale street map is available for free at the Tourist Information Centre which is really helpful for exploring Olhao. Would definitely stay at this property again.
Great location, perfect for sunny days on the multiple level roof terrasse. Walking distance to fish market and more.
One note : the AC is only the master bedroom/bathroom .
Lovely authentic property in a quiet back street a few steps from the centre of the town.
Great break away. Refreshing Aircon in bedroom. Lovely balcony and separate sun roof terrace. Home from home comfort. Central to ferry, restaurants, shops and train station. Delightful house full of charm.
This is our 4th time staying in this property. Very clean and suitable for 2 people to have a comfortable stay. Small patio on 2nd floor and a wondeful roof top terrace that gets the sun all day. Situated in a quite cobbled street only minutes away from the sea front and amazing restaurants. Less than 10 min stroll gets you to the train/bus station should you want to visit other towns and to the boat that can take you to a few islands. We will be back .
Perfect location in the heart of restaurants, cafes and shops, just a few steps from the sea front. Excellent and thorough communication with vendor, supported by a manager. A few tips for cleaning: floor needs a good mop and once in a while a deep clean ie shower, all surfaces. Very dusty and sandy floor but very nice historic building.
Good location.good kitchen/livingroom.
Bedroom damp on arrival, still.damp on departure.stair cases were mentioned as being steep and narrow.until you have to use them you realise that they are very difficult to climb on all 3 levels.all outside balconies had flakey paintwork which could have been easily and cheaply done before our arrival.no handrail on the top staircase to the roof terrace a small folding table and chairs on the roof terracewould improve the area, you have nowhere to sit on the roof terrace only sunbeds.if you have any mobility problems i would not recomend this house.
There was no shade on a very small balcony, not even a sun brolly and the sun was on the balcony all day. The sun brolly on the roof terrace was not in a position that could offer any shade and was fixed to the wall and so could not be moved to a better position. There was no comfortable seating on the balcony.Shower did not drain. hanging space was only in the cleaning cupboard. Whole pace in need of serious refurbishment. We know Olhao really well and this house was a huge disappointment.
We have been to OlhĂŁo before but stayed in a hotel. We wanted to make use of the wonderful produce in the markets and so decided to rent.
Neil's house is brilliantly located just round the corner from the markets and so it was easy to shop for fresh food as and when required. We made full use of the cooking facilities including a great outside barbecue.
The house is full of character with its traditional brick ceilings on the ground floor. A comfortable living and cooking area on the 1st and a spacious roof terrace.
As it said in the description of the property the stairs are quite tight and steep but if you are careful and take your time they are no problem.
The wifi was very good and there was plenty of hot water.
There was a good selection of basic necessities either provided by Neil or left by previous tenants which was welcome as we didn't have to start shopping straight away.
The only thing I would like to see improved is more and better space for hanging clothes.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in renting the house again.

I currently own and rent this propertyt in the olhao and have renovated a further three, all in the Olhao area. This 'pastime' started when I came across a really old derelict building that was for sale. I made an offer and the rest is history! It is such a great experience to see an old building knocked down and replaced with a vastly improved one! The olhao properties have all undertaken major renovation work (as apposed to a complete rebuild). It is a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
The challenge was to find somewhere in the centre of town but still in a quiet area. This property is as near as you will find to this description as no cars are allowed down the cobbled walkways.
If you walk fifty yards, numerous restaurants, bars and shops await. Not to mention the harbour and sea beyond!
This property was formerly a run down, semi derelict house. after my purchase, a major renovation project started. twelve months later, the end result is a beautiful, perfectly located, townhouse. This property seems to have more 'return visitors' than any other I have owned.
No cars whistling by your front door and a perfect location. Within fifty yards or so is everything you could need, including the sea! Olhao is a growing area with lots of new builds on the outskirts of town. However, Casa de Esquinha is right in the heart of this fishing village.
