Villa Monica is lovely and well equipped , fantastic views and very comfortable.
We had a fantastic holiday and communication and help from the property owner was invaluable .
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay.
Beautiful pastoral, village setting with just a short walk to a quiet beach. The house itself is equipped with everything one needs. The shower is great and the beds and bedding are very comfortable. We loved staying at Casa Monica and hope to return one day
The property offered the perfect base for our family holiday of 2 adults and 3 teens. The pool was great and always very quiet, the local beaches were gorgeous and the villa had everything we needed and plenty of space. Rosemary could not have been more helpful with information and advice on the local area. We had a lovely time, thank you!
Spent a week in September with kids. It was perfect. Bright and nice house. The pool is lovely and the small pool is perfect for kids. Overall we had a great time.
One of our best holiday experiences. Rosemary was incredibly helpful. The property was excellent. The complex was so well cared for and clean. We couldnât have asked for more.
I am sure we will be back
Lovely place in a nest of properties I named Melrose Place. Quiet spot for those who prefer less touristy places, but there's plenty in Figueira village all the same - a few nice, simple eateries and for those willing to take the plunge, a spectacular and quiet beach 15 mins walk down a dust track, with cooler water than the nearby beaches.
Highly recommended.
sehr angenehme Kommunikation, sehr entgegenkommend
Casa Monica is a spacious home on a small complex of similar properties in the Western Algarve. There are three generous sized bedrooms on the ground floor with two bathrooms. Upstairs the large open plan lounge/diner has views over the beautiful rolling hills of the national park, with stunning sunsets to complete this idyllic setting.
We really enjoyed our 10 day stay in Casa Monica. I really liked how the bedrooms were downstairs and the living area upstairs. Amazing view from the terrace upstairs ( especially the sun sets ). Everything was clean and satisfying. The owner was very helpful when we had any questions. We visited many different beaches, mainly on the west coast ( amazing by the way ) and form Casa Monica everything was very close. The pool area was also fun for the kids. All in all we had a very great holiday and will definitely be back.
Compact settlement around communal pool in the unspoiled Algarve.
The owners were very amenable and gave lots of advice and information, can't fault communication at all. The set up of the settlement around the pool area is ideal for people with young families or in our case not so young! Great the way the living accommodation is upstairs to make better use of the views and enable you to keep your eye on the pool from the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of equipment, crockery, pots, pans, tupperware coolboxes and so on.
Located close enough to the lovely town of Lagos to visit as regularly as you would like, but in a quiet rural location, with easy access to lots of sandy beeches with or without restaurants and so on. With access to both the southern and western shores you can always find somewhere to surf snorkel or just relax. Plenty of games, books and DVD, TV WIFI and satellite no excuse to get bored.
We had a brilliant holiday staying at Casa Monica. Figueira is a lovely little village and we found it the perfect base for exploring all the gorgeous beaches of the western Algarve and up on the west coast. We found plenty of good places to eat and especially loved the seafood restaurants just down the road in Vila do Bispo. We felt that the rental was good value. The house was clean with plenty of space for our family of 5 and had everything we needed for our holiday.
Rosemary, the owner was very helpful before our holiday providing tips and recommendations and was also extremely helpful in helping us to courier a bag back to the UK which we stupidly managed to leave behind! We definitely hope to come back and stay again in the future.
I would highly recommend this villa, beautifully kept yet had a homely feel. The complex gardens and pool were kept to a high standard and were very quiet. And if we didn't fancy sitting by the pool the villa had it's own patio areas. The location was perfect for exploring the area by car. Rosemary was attentive as a host, there at the end of an email if we needed anything.
We had a simply fabulous two weeks at Casa Monica, it was so relaxing and the villa had everything you needed, a real home from home. We really didn't want to leave !
It is a very spacious and airy house, with lots of outdoor space to relax in. The balcony from the lounge is the ideal place to have supper and watch the sun go down. The pool is safe and well maintained and a lovely place to meet other families on holiday.
There is plenty of very useful information about beaches, restaurants and local shops provided in the villa and Rosemary was very helpful with any queries prior to the start of our holiday.
The village of Figueria is small but there is everything you need, a shop, bar and couple of restaurants. The beaches are truly beautiful our favourite is Zavial a short drive away but you can walk to Figueria beach from the villa in about 20 mins.
We would definitely recommend Casa Monica and hope to be back in the near future.
The Mercer Family
I suppose the first thing to say about Casa Monica is that we have been there 4 times over the last 6 years and are extremely sad, that due to logistic reasons we will not be there in 2016. It has become like a 2nd home to the family and extremely relaxing. We immediately relax the moment we arrive. The house is well furnished and although it doesn't have air conditioning, the marble like floors give it a cool feel. The views to the rear from the dinning terrace area are across the town and to the hills of the countryside and are delightful to enjoy the sunset from. The owner takes pride in ensuring that the place is kept clean by the support staff. QDA itself is about the right size with a lovely central pool. It is quiet but not too quiet. The gardens are well maintained a the grounds are looked after (although I do remember being woken up early by the sound of a chainsaw!!! - the early start for the gardener). The design of the house is that the bedrooms are on the lower floor and the living room and kitchen are on the first floor. This is reassuring as some ways as a parent when the children are asleep, but you still need to be careful with the younger children if they play near the stairs. My wife and I have been visiting the area since 2003 and we cannot get enough of the lovely beaches and great restaurants. Zavial, Ingrina and Salema are particular favourite beaches. Salema has a lovely selection of restaurants with great fresh fish. There are still only a few so you avoid the touts trying to drag you in (that you get in Lagos) but it can be important to reserve a table. I have to say that the prices have increased substantially in the last 10 years. You can still get great food for reasonable prices by going in land. Figueira has a couple of good value and quaint restaurants. In addition the beach bars in Ingrina and Zavial provide generally good food. An essential part to fully enjoy the Western Algarve is to have a hire car to visit the many beaches. Without this I would say your enjoyment would be hindered, although there is a beach within walking distance. Wishing I was there now!
Wonderful 2 weeks holiday with our young family over Easter in Casa Monica! Beautifully clean when we arrived. Had everything we needed and more. We loved the fabulous child friendly shared pool area with gate. Lovely quiet location on the edge of unspoilt Figuiera village. Georgous sunsets from terrace and views over Figuiera rooftops. Lovely rural walks surrounded by almond blossom, fig trees, oranges..lemons...olives...vines... Lots of beautiful unspoilt beaches and plenty of yummy places to eat too all within short drive. National park so beautifully green and full of Spring flowers in April. We didn't want to leave! Thank you Rosemary for all your help and useful info.
Casa Monica........top marks....well worth a stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Monica to the full. Only a short drive (less than 5 minutes) from the lovely coastal village of Salema, the property fully lived up to expectations. It was excellently maintained, extremely comfortable and made us feel very much at home. We also liked the village of Figueira....very restful and just that little bit off the beaten track. The owner was very helpful in providing information prior to our visit and we felt our week's stay was good value in every way. We would certainly recommend Casa Monica to family and friends and hope to return there ourselves in the not too distant future.
This is a lovely spacious house, with plenty of outdoor space to relax in, particularly the balcony from the lounge, which gets the sun from early morning to spectacular sunset evenings!
Rosemary provided us with lots of useful information about beaches, restaurants, local shops etc in good time for our holiday. Thank you for that!
The Quinta Da Aldeia is a fab place to stay, close to some beautiful, and when we were there, almost empty beaches.
I would definitely recommend a holiday here.
We had a fantastic holiday at Casa Monica in July 2013 and looking forward to going back in 2014!
The house is super - very spacious, fantastic swimming pool (with a very nice kiddies pool) and the views & sunsets from the terrace are amazing!
There are many beaches close by on both the Atlantic coast and Med and a great selection of restaurants in Figuera/Salema. A brilliant place to stay! Thank you Rosemary!
Really enjoyed our stay for the last week of May.
The Villa was roomy (two families with three kids in total), well maintained and ideally close (5min by car) to the restaurants and bars of Salema beach.
Our kids loved going through the selection of movies, toys and books that were there and we loved having barbecues on the patio and sitting around the fireplace in the evening.
Would definitely recommend this Villa.

We fell in love with the Western Algarve on our first visit and bought the house soon afterwards. We live in the UK but with a Management Service for running the house close by with availability for help and advice at any time. We treat it as a family home because we all love visiting when we can, and so you'll find all you'll need for easy living as the house is well equipped.
We found that the area has everything you could want for a great holiday having easy access to all the facilities of The Algarve and yet within a 15 minute drive we have access to the beautiful and unspoilt beaches of the West Coast ( Atlantic Ocean) It is one hour by car from Faro, the airport, thus leaving the built up section of the Algarve behind. Despite this food shopping is easy with a supermarket a couple of minutes by car and many local restaurants that offer excellent cuisine.
As well as access to beaches, fishing villages, golf, tennis and fishing trips the house is part of a small development of 27 houses surrounding two heated pools and landscaped gardens. Our house faces west and has sun all day especially fine in the evening, having a drink on the sun terrace, looking out across the countryside towards the setting sun at Cape St Vincent the most westerly point of Europe. We overlook the cobbled village of Figueira (at the top of the hill from Salema) where fresh bread & local produce is within a three minute walk.
