Amazing relaxing week - perfect stay
We were a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 teenagers). We've just finished the most relaxing week in La Borie. The house gave us lots of space, especially the outside space. We loved the house so much that we didn't really venture out except for the supermarket and one day trip.Everything provided, kitchen well equipped, plancha grill for outdoor dining in the barn, loads of fridge and freezer space.Really lovely hosts in Helen and John. Amazing!

Good stay and property was as listed
Lovely, charming and authentic house in Lusignac. Helen and John were welcoming and the house is as described with great facilities for our summer holiday.
We were 8 adults with 2 infants ( 2 yrs and 18months) and the house accommodated us all really well, but the floors are very thin so there isn’t a huge amount of privacy/ sound travels which with babies is slightly tricky, but otherwise a lovely stay.

The most wonderful holiday!
We had two gorgoeus weeks in this fabulous farmhouse. The house is large and spacious with everything you would need. Helen and John were so wonderful and made us fell very welcome - nothing was too much trouble!
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area - lots of wonderful towns to explore, canoeing, swimming in the lakes and lovely walks.
We were two families with 5 teenagers. We all agreed that we would happily go back!

Gorgeous house
This was the most perfect house for our extended family to reconnect and relax in. The house was beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The outside spaces were lovely, with plenty of options for a large group to socialise. We particularly enjoyed the outside kitchen, pool and table tennis in the barn. The walk back from the local bar was lovely. All in all we would thoroughly recommend this property, and hope to return one day. Thank you so much.

Lovely Rural Farmhouse
This lovely rural farmhouse provided plenty of space for our extended family of 6 adults and 3 children (aged 13, 4 and <2) to spend a relaxing week in a more peaceful area of the Dordogne. The pool was a huge hit with adults and children alike whilst the many outside areas allowed space for both sun or shade throughout the day. In addition to games described there are lots of toys for younger children including a new sandpit which ‘appeared’ whilst we were there. Helen and John are friendly, live next door and keep an eye on the pool and garden whilst leaving you alone to enjoy your holiday. Would recommend.

A perfect house for the whole family
La Borie is much more than a holiday house - a real home beautifully decorated, very comfortable and clean and with a spacious, well equipped kitchen which was a pleasure to cook in. We were unlucky with the weather but it really did not matter, the evenings in front of the blazing fire in the kitchen were as memorable as those that we did spend outside in the beautiful garden where there were two spacious seating areas. Helen made us feel really welcome and went out of her way to provide everything we needed from the clear maps she sent to help us find the house to finding out about kayaking for us and even bringing us plenty of extra games and dvd's when the rain came down on our second day. In spite of the weather we really enjoyed the pool in its beautiful setting and the boys enjoyed playing football in the meadow. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed exploring and walking through to the lane and up to the small bar in the village. We hired bikes which were delivered and picked up and it was a great way to explore the surrounding countryside and villages. We all hope to go back next summer, there is so much in the area still to see though if the sun shone I don't think we would want to leave the garden and swimming pool! Thank you Helen for a really memorable holiday.

Amazing spacious retreat
Our 2 families with 6 kids spent an amazing week at Helen’s property. Would highly recommend.
Great value for money with buckets of room. We had a couple of visitors during the week and there was ample room for them.
Kids loved to nice deep pool with mini diving board.
The house is quiet remote so is an amazing place to explore the grounds and go for a walk.

Lovely old farmhouse with beautiful grounds and wonderful pool.
We have just returned from two perfect weeks at La Borie. Our
party consisted of six adults and one child. The house is very spacious and full of character. We have stayed in many lovely houses in France but none so well equipped both inside the house and in the peaceful grounds and pool area. Toys and sports equipment much appreciated! Very helpful and charming owners.

Tranquil family holiday
My family stayed at La Borie for a fortnight in 2018 and we are returning with friends in 2019. The house is well set up to accommodate two families and a large number of children. The garden and grounds are particularly well maintained. The sitting room opens directly onto a lawn, which is great for supervising small children and the extended grounds offer loads of space for children to explore. The setting is quiet but easily accessible to Riberac. The owners live on site in an adjacent cottage, which is convenient for queries and maintenance. On seeing the age of our daughter, they very kindly put up a swing for her. In 2018 the pool was unheated but we understand that solar heating will be installed for 2019. In June, the unheated pool was perfect for adult swimming but less good for small children to splash about. It is also worth noting that the bathrooms have baths with hand showers, not showers.

Exceptional farmhouse & large pool
My family had a fantastic 3-week holiday in La Borie, a beautifully renovated farmhouse. So fantastic, in fact, that we secured a repeat booking for the following year prior to departing. We found the property extremely spacious, sympathetically renovated, tastefully decorated, and had everything we needed for family day-to-day living. The securely gated pool is perfect for children and we all looked forward to cooling off there each afternoon after exploring the various local food markets and other wonderful excursions. The pool is actually quite large, which meant that the keener members of our party could exercise properly and swim lengths whilst the rest of us happily relaxed and drank local wines. The shallow end is ideal for young children to play or practice their swimming and there is a slightly separate paddling pool which is perfect for babies and toddlers. There is a barn area with a large BBQ, which we used most evenings, a ping pong table and lots of lawn games. The courtyard, lawn and gardens are obviously lovingly cared for and just beautiful. La Borie is the perfect setting for children to play and for family and friends to relax, talk, eat and drink. Helen and John gave us a warm welcome and were happy to help with any information we needed. They kindly shared some delicious fruit from their garden with us, which we very much enjoyed cooking and eating. We think this is the perfect place for groups of friends or families to holiday together and celebrate special occasions (it would be an amazing place to host a wedding or spend Christmas) because the size and the layout of the house and grounds mean there is plenty of space for more than one family to be together as well as enough space to have privacy. The location is ideal in terms of exploring the Dordoigne. We would highly recommend booking this property any time of the year. We couldn’t believe our luck and can’t wait to return again this summer!

A Wonderful Holiday
We have just returned from the most wonderful holiday in an equally wonderful house La Borie. Helen, the owner greated us warmly and had also baked us a cake which was unexpected but so appreciated. The house is absolutely beautiful and large, spacious, tastefully furnished rooms allowed everyone to gather or find a quiet area. The house is exceptionally well equipped and mirrors and sockets perfectly placed for hairdrying, a very important feature!
Fabulous good sized pool with enough loungers for all. We were 8 strong, 2 sets of parents with our 4 grown up children (18-25). We all agreed that this was the best house that we have rented ( and we have been renting lovely houses for many years). Helen, the owner was simply delightful and we would see her from time to time cleaning the pool early morning. Ideally situated for nearby towns of Aubeterre and Bourdeilles and some lovely walks directly from the property too. We would not hesitate from returning to La Borie in the future and think it would be ideal for all age groups.

perfect, two-family holiday in an idyllic location
We had all looked forward to staying at La Borie just from its location and seeing the lovely pics and the reality was still better and just perfect for two families of five. There's a wonderful secret garden feel and we were surrounded with the best of early summer in the garden Helen quietly keeps looking stunningly natural. The house has a lovely laid-back, stylish vibe with a huge kitchen, spacious bedrooms and a large comfy sitting room we never needed to use. The shady terrace outside the kitchen with roses and jasmine and every possible seating and lazing opportunity was the centre of 'activities' and wonderful for every meal. Early morning swims with the scent of jasmine and lavender were a particular treat and there were endless pingpong, badminton (and tanning) challenges.
La Borie is perfectly positioned for enjoying local life from markets to canoeing and Perigueux is just an hour away. We loved the Lusignac bar. You won't be surprised to read that we are returning this year!

Another fantastic holiday at La Borie
This was not our first visit to La Borie and yet again we have enjoyed a wonderful family holiday. The house has such character whilst being both spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well resourced and the sitting areas both inside and outside comfortably sit 10 people. The garden is beautiful and filled with an array of varied and colourful plants and shrubs whilst the pool is large and cleaned regularly by the owner. Yet again we enjoyed some lovely days out to St Emillion, Brantome and Cognac to name a few - and of course some pleasant evening drinks in Vertaillac.
Thank you Helen - we have treasured memories of a fantastic holiday!

glorious holiday at la borie
Couldn't have asked for more from la Borie or its owner Helen. La Borie was tranquil, comfortable, and had everything you would need for a family holiday. The kitchen was so well equipped, it was amazing, the bedrooms were spacious, and beds comfy. Everywhere was decorated beautifully & furnished thoughtfully. There was so much space throughout the house and gardens that even as a large family you would be able to find a quiet spot for some peace. The pool had a great shallow area for the toddlers, the garden was great for exploring. We will be returning next year without a doubt! Thank you Helen!

Family reunion in May
I think I can speak for all 11 of us in saying we had a wonderful holiday at La Borie once again. I'd never been so early in the year before (in May), but we still used the pool every single day. The advantage of coming a little earlier this year was seeing your garden in full glory and the Dordogne before being 'bleached' by the sun - and we really enjoyed burning logs on the huge open fire in the kitchen every late evening (it's normally too warm for this!). Everything was just right, Helen, as usual (and beds even more comfortable than last time)! I always enjoy the mixture of authentic farmhouse and stylish chic design of La Borie. And it was as peaceful and relaxing as ever - batteries are recharged!

La Borie
My family (of 4) have stayed at this house on many occasions since the children were babies, and it is the perfect house to spend a holiday with another family. The house has a wonderful & relaxed atmosphere and is always welcoming & cool after a hot days sightseeing around the pretty countryside. The swimming pool and grounds are beautiful. What with badminton on the lawn, ping pong in the barn, lazy meals outside in the courtyard and relaxing by the pool, it is possible for the whole family to be well occupied all day long.
