Great spot for a family trip with our adult children, our three year old and one year old grandsons and two dogs. The old house was quirky but it was comfortable, clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed many meals at home. The host provided suggestions for shopping as the area is a bit remote. We would not hesitate to return for another stay at this waterfront property.

Yes, the host was so responsive to any and all questions that I had about the rental and everything related. It was very helpful to know what stores and local restaurants might be available and their location, especially at this time of year - so many coastal businesses and restaurants are seasonal. Jonathan also clued me into local chefs that will prepare a meal at the rental. We had a local chef do this as we were having a very special birthday celebration. I would have never thought of it if Jonathan had not provided the info. Every question I had he answered and answered promptly.

Perfect Venue for a Girlfriends Getaway
We are six college friends of a certain age who all snore. It's not easy finding a six-bedroom house on the coast of Maine but Jonathan's family home in Cushing suited our needs perfectly. We especially enjoyed the magnificent dock and float, and the two living rooms provided plenty of space for conversation.

It’s rare when everyone is happy with a rental home, but we all were thrilled with the home. It has location, character, convenience and yet privacy.
A big plus, all the mattresses were great.
One thing we missed was a clothesline…
It really was better than described, so thank you.

Wonderful family home for families
We loved every minute of our stay at Chadwick House. It is clear that many years of family gatherings have happened here and it was magical for our family to gather there. We enjoyed walks in the garden and down to the dock. We ate several lobster meals gathered around the table.
The owners were very attentive. They have a very helpful on site manager. If you are looking for a real home within close driving distance of the many wonderful experiences that Maine has to offer, please consider this rental.

Tranquility Base
We had a great stay, two weeks in this peaceful location and the decompression was almost complete before we had to return to the daily grind. This location is remote, quiet and very lovely. Thomaston is not Camden, thankfully, and Cushing is a far piece from Thomaston, so you're away from the bustle and flow that sometimes marks summertime Maine.
Rockland has changed materially since I worked there 30+ years ago. Very cool.
The house is aged, eclectic and comfortable - the pictures demonstrate it appropriately. Has the character of an antique saltwater farm with some modern upgrades. The owner is helpful, cheerful and very relaxed. His suggestion of Saturday breakfast at the Broad Cove Church was a great way to meet some neighbors. We had a wonderful vacation - next time I bring a boat.

Celebration of Life for Betsy
We loved this property!! First, Jonathan was terrific to communicate with. He was timely, thorough and detailed. Second, the property is so so very stunning. Third, it's in our favorite area. And forth, everything was as it was communicated to be. It's simply a gorgeous property all the way around. Water on both sides of the house. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and remains in the classic Maine style. We brought kayaks, so the dock was super and kayaking in that area is wonderful. When you kayak to the left as you look at the water, and paddle around Stone's Point and into Maple Juice Cove, you can see the Olsen House on the shore in the distance. We had a celebration of life for my sister who adored the area and would have loved to have stayed there. The house had a large room with window space looking out to the yard and water where we set up a bunch of tables and easels to display Betsy's art, photo albums, memorabilia, books, etc.etc. The Lupine were in full bloom. We played lawn games (the yard is big and lovely) and used both front and back decks. I highly recommend this property and you will be well taken care of by Jonathan. The only things I might comment on: 1- there were no lobster crackers. 2. there's 1-2 bedrooms that don't have their own door to the bathroom/exit. 3. some of the bedrooms are tiny. We will definitely return if we have the opportunity. Thanks Jonathan!

A Painterly Scene From Andrew Wyeth
We rented the first week in September which gave us cooler temperatures and less tourist congested towns along Maine's mid-coast shorelines.
The house is situated right on the water with spectacular views everywhere you look in a very private and secluded area. The only sounds one hears first thing in the morning are the commercial lobster boats heading out at first light and the local birds that inhabit the fields and forests.
For art lovers there is the Olsen House Museum made famous by it's depiction in Andrew Wyeth's Christina's World only a few miles north of the rental house.
The house owners are particularly attentive to guests and make sure everything is just right. The owner even had the piano tuned before our stay as my wife had inquired about wanting to play it. Now that's attention to detail. Lot's of interesting rooms in the house full of many generations collections over the years. The kitchen is well stocked with everything guests might need. Guests are greeted by a property manager who provides a tour of the property and all it's idiosyncrasies to ensure a safe and pleasant stay. Due to the vintage of the house the staircases are steeper than is typical and one needs to be mindful of that when using them. The rooms are plentiful and the furniture comfortable affording a relaxing and picturesque stay on one of Maine's most beautiful coastlines.

Such a beautiful place! Such a great experience!
Wow! This property has spectacular views and beautiful light at all times of the day, looking across the water and the lawn. Nighttime brings brilliant stars over the water. Sunrise on the dock with a coffee in-hand...perfect. The privacy and peacefulness…serene.
The home itself is a gorgeous, gracious place with a story. You can see the history with the character of each room. As you explore the house you can’t help but think of all the families and friends that have gathered over the years to appreciate a place of relaxation and simplicity.
This home has many rooms from which to choose: queen-sized to full-sized beds to twin beds. Each room has a look of its own…and the pictures captured exactly how beautiful it was. While the home was too big for our small family, we would definitely keep it in mind for a larger gathering when times get back to normal.
The home is family and pet friendly. We traveled with an 8 year old and two labs. There was something for everyone, even the children’s clubhouse down by the water. We brought games to play and books to read. Before we arrived, we thought we’d have a fire in the fire place, but we ended up not doing that, since the weather was warm and having a fire might have been too much trouble, but we’ll never know, since we didn’t try. Our child filled the rooms with piano music (which was tuned prior to our arrival!) each night...a delight. The kitchen is fully equipped – a kitchen made for those who love to cook. The appliances were a bit on the older side, but that was part of the home’s charm.
We visited Marshall Lighthouse and Acadia, drove the coast, hiked/biked in the area, rode horses, enjoyed ice cream in Damariscotta, and stayed at the house playing frisbee, walking the shore, and relaxing.
The owner was highly attentive and responded to every inquiry leading up to our arrival and when we were there at the house. We were prepared with what to pack due to COVID-19, like hand soaps, games, etc. He was helpful with questions about things to do in the area. There is also a useful binder in the home. The owner allowed us to store our bikes in the garage so we didn’t have to tote them with us everywhere. On the day of our arrival, he made sure an operating grill was available to us, which was purchased and installed the day before we got to the home! He was attentive and helped make our time relaxing and enjoyable.
We look forward to going back again!

Beautifully located historic home
This property caught my eye while searching for places on the east coast. It was everything we thought plus more. The history and vintage decor made us feel comfy and at home. Plenty of space for gathering and with lots of spaces to seclude yourself too. Game nights or quiet reading time, both easy to achieve. The property was clean and well stocked. The property owner, Jonathan, was very easy to contact and a joy to converse with. He offered help when we had car issues which luckily we didn’t need. It was the perfect place for us to celebrate a retirement. (There were 6 sisters and 2 nieces)
Please don’t hesitate to stay here cause I know we would again if we come back to the coast.

Maine Winter Paradise
Who goes to Maine in February? We did and this was the perfect place to stay. It was warm, comfortable, spacious, and the views were to die for. The morning light off the water and snow was like a painting. The WiFi was great for those who needed to work, the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking, and the owner was incredibly helpful. Unforgettable and special!
Staying in this beautiful home on the water was exactly what we needed in this difficult time. Our time in Maine was unforgettable, due in large part to the simple fact that Jonathan cares - this was more than just a place to sleep, it was an experience. Jonathan consistently went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, safe, and fun. He also gave us lots of wonderful recommendations for local activities and restaurants, and he was pro-active in staying on top of COVID safety guidance and precautions. Not only is there great water access directly on the property with unbeatable water views on both sides of the house, but the history of the place is palpable. The kitchen is fully stocked, internet was fast, there are 2 washers and 2 dryers, and there was plenty of room for our group to spread out and unplug when needed. We loved our lobster dinners, with lobsters from the local dock down the road, and nights around the piano. The location is also perfect - secluded enough to feel private and special but easy enough access to the towns of Rockland, Rockport, and Camden, and other attractions Maine has to offer. Highly recommend!

Fantastic week in Cushing!
This 1850s sea captain's house lives up to its reputation as a rustic yet very comfortable vacation home. It is spacious and has rooms for all moods and occasions, with appropriate furniture for lounging and dining inside and out. The huge lawn is great for croquet and other outdoor games. Gas and charcoal grills complement the well-appointed kitchen, and there are plenty of pots and pans for those who love to cook.
Our seafaring family particularly enjoyed the location, with views of Maple Juice Cove on one side, and the St. George River on the other, and a dock that made it possible to enjoy a variety of boating and water activities. As advertised, the breeze between the two coves make it very easy to keep the house cool.
Nature lovers will enjoy the woods for walks and the frequent visits by osprey, goldfinches, and terns, and if you venture out on the waters, you are almost certain to see seals.

I just wanted to follow up on this. It turned out when we opened the house summer before last, we bought all new mattresses. But the units had varying firmness.
We had no idea.
So for next summer, we are going to get a super firm mattress for downstairs. And make sure there are fim and soft options on every floor.
Thanks for flagging us. Soft mattresses are the worst!
ORIGINAL ANSWER
Thanks for your note. Yea, the place is great.
Wow, that's good to know about our mattresses. Don't you hate a crappy mattress? The thing is, we replaced every single bed in the house with a brand new, high-quality box spring and mattress, summer before last.
I wonder if they were defective somehow. We will definitely check them out, this winter. And figure something out for next year.
Thanks for the heads up!

A Perfect Dose of New England Charm!
Our family and visiting relatives occupied Chadwick House for a week. It was a slice of heaven! Gorgeous setting on the water, lots of charm in the rambling old home, plenty of room, fully equipped kitchen and pantry, remote setting yet close enough to everything you could want or need. Jonathan was an attentive host and made sure we were equipped with a spot on itinerary for collecting provisions along the drive in from Portland. We spent lots of lazy days reading, playing croquet, cooking and fishing from the deep water dock. We'd return in a heartbeat - it's a really special place! The kids were so enthralled no one asked for the TV. Don't miss Jameson Point Lobster Co. around the corner in Friendship. It might not be on the water, but the food was incredible, the owners so friendly and well worth the stop (or two).

Picturesque coastal property offering relaxation and family fun
We are a family of 5 (3 teenage boys) and 2 dogs that recently stayed for 5 nights at the Chadwick House.
Pros: Jonathan, the owner was very friendly, super insightful with restaurants and planning excursions. Best experience when dealing with him.
The home is great! Very comfortable. Bedding beautiful and new. Kitchen was a dream to cook in! Pots and plans for lobsters and all sides! I could tell the owners took much pride in the property . Thoughtful to guests needs in most ways. House keeping was impeccable!
The property is a dream. Unspoiled prestine coastline! The dock was a blast to swim off of. Kids loved the shore at low tide. Nature preserve down the road. Long hilly roads for bike rides.
Cons: Property 1/2 hour from main drag, gets to be a bit much...
The home at times felt a little to much like someone else's. Lots of personal items, although beautiful, took a little bit away from the feeling of being on vacation.

Thanks for staying with us. And for taking the time to write up a response. The place is definitely secluded. But for that, you get ease of access to the nearby islands. That's pretty much impossible closer to town.
And you are right, the furnishings have evolved over 150 years. It is a unique experience, for sure.
Nice meeting you!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
7 Henderson Lane is mid 19th-century farmhouse, that's built in the traditional Maine style. It's sits high on a bluff overlooking the unspoiled Georges River and is ideal for pets, good sized families and events of up to 20.
The 2.2 acre property has three main buildings:
1) A 7-bedroom, two-floor, 3,000 square-foot home that can sleep 8 to 12, depending on how rooms are shared.
2) A fully heated 24' x 26' foot open studio space. It is upstairs in the large barn to the south of the main building.
3) A two-vehicle garage, with 120 volt plug-in power and automatic door.
We can host three main kinds of events, with varying price levels.
* Family reunions of up to 12. Rates are usually directly quoted by Airbnb. Transactions are kept strictly on-platform.
* Retreats and receptions of up 20 people. Additional event fees can apply. Property fees usually transact on-platform. Event fees usually transact off-platform.
* Marine oriented cruising and boating events. Additional water front fees can apply. Both property and marine fees usually transact on-platform.
Please see other details of note and the full rental agreement elsewhere in this listing.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
We've done this long enough to know, that every booking is unique. And we absolutely would love to hear hear your ideas for a reunion, event, or reception.
But there several general themes to keep in mind:
1) In these complex times, be prepared to exchange additional rental agreements, liability waivers, and disclosures. We absolutely respect your privacy, but usually that means sharing direct contact information.
2) We love boats and boating families. But depending on the situation, we may need the vessel model, proof of insurance, and brief marine resume. Additional fees and paperwork may apply.
3) When considering a reception or retreat please understand that:
* We cannot host actual wedding ceremonies. It's simply not logistically possible to have the nuptials on the property. We can however connect you to top-quality transportation to nearby houses of worship, outdoor venues, and even remote islands.
We can get you direct references for how magical those ceremonies can be.
* We have to approve vendors. We understand that the meal, decor and details are what make every reception what it is. But the complexities involved in working in our property require that all cooks, florists and support staff meet standards for insurance, work safety, and best practices. It's not complex, but we do have to submit any potential vendor for approval. We would be happy to recommend options, if you're looking.
* We cannot host amplified music. You will be inhabiting an intimate location where sound travels far. Really far. While we love acoustic music played indoors in the home or studio, amplified music is not something to plan for. Remember, if things get too noisy, Deputy Smith will absolutely knock on the door.
And he will alter your experience. Definitely.
Again, we look forward to chatting with you about your needs. We love hosting the right events!
Do reach out.
