Beautiful and Cozy Home In the Mountains

We had a delightful and comfortable stay at Fairplay Log Cabin! One of our favorite features was the pool/ping pong table and view of Mt. Sherman from upstairs! There is a gorgeous and scenic mile hike up to Mt. Sherman, just 2.2 miles from the cabin's doorstep that we all loved!

Nice spot!

Great cabin! Had everything we needed! A few words of caution: We didn’t get to enjoy the deck due to mosquitos! Not a big deal as we weren’t at the cabin much. But I sure missed my afternoon post-hike hammoc sessions!

A great getaway

The cabin was great! We really enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn’t have internet the whole time, and that made me not give it full stars. We ended up using my hotspot the whole time. The views were beautiful! The beds were comfy enough and even tho there is no ac the fans were great! Kept the air circulating. And the temps were great especially at night! There is a camera, when we booked it said there was not a camera and no one knew what it was recording, where it was pointed, or if it got sound. Made it a little uncomfortable. Close to the market, and the market had so much of what we needed, and there is a family dollar or dollar general for the remaining little things you may need to pick up. Overall this was a good stay.

Summer adventures

Great location to go sightseeing in the mountains, hiking, cycling, and fly fishing in the high elevation streams. Really enjoyed the hike up the mountain at top of neighborhood and seeing the moose as we came and went from the house. Natural beauty abounds in this area and the house is right in the middle. We got to take our 4x4 truck up to some of the high passes, and these were great adventures. All of us were able to take pictures of amazing vistas. We enjoyed bicycling from Breckinridge to Frisco and back on the paved trail. There is also a paved trail between FairPlay and Alma. Hiking or trail running at Beaver Creek Trail ❤️ You should come prepared for higher elevation. There are preventative meds that can be prescribed for altitude sickness. You may not need them but better to be safe so you can fully enjoy your trip if you aren’t acclimated to the elevation. House is at approximately 11,000 ft. I think you could return again and again to this location and still find new things to do!

This property was really nic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The woods surrounding the property are so beautiful and the 18" of snow that fell was amazing! It is on a dirt road, which may limit who can visit this area, but the roads were overall well maintained. The only problem we had was that it appeared the cabin had not been in use for a while, so there were both several different live spiders that we encountered as well as other dead bugs in the property, and the toilets were absolutely disgusting with some weird black stuff that was in the tank and thus flowed out every time we flushed. Overall, we would definitely return.

Very nice place

I highly recommend this rental home as it is a very nice, quiet and spacious place. You’ll find it comfortable and accommodating. The neighborhood is full of other cabin/homes spread out in the mountain woods. The views are great. The house is about 15 minutes from Fairplay where you’ll find a couple of restaurants and a grocery store. If you like to hike, Pennsylvania Mountain (13,000 ft) has a trail head at the end of the neighborhood. The only drawback to this home is the 2-1/2 mile kidney jarring dirt road you have to take to get there. During inclement weather, a 4-wheel drive vehicle might be needed.

Review

Overall staying here was good. The beds were comfy, the rooms were spacious, and the area was gorgeous. They had a wide variety of games and movies to watch. We had fun and spent most of our trip in the cabin due to the weather. However, there were a couple of concerns that could use some attention. First, in their description they mentioned a 4x4 is needed, there needs to be more emphasis on this. This is 100% required for winter months. If you don’t have a winter, like where we are from, it was extremely difficult to get to and from because the hills are steep and very icy. We got stuck 3 times on different days right before reaching the property. For the property itself, we ran into a few issues such as the play station not working, Netflix not working, dirty dishes, and small dirty areas around the house. It was also a little concerning that we pay a cleaning fee, but we were required to clean the unit and leave it how we found it. Being COVID times, I really hope there is a professional who comes in a cleans after because the dishes we used were not cleaned properly. We did contact the management with some of the problems and one of them came by with batteries for the PlayStation remote but we still getting it to work. This was a bummer because we couldn’t leave the property much. Out of the entire selection of movies they had, we could only watch a few because their PlayStation was inoperable.

Wonderful!

The location of this property is amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the seclusion. It is a beautiful home with plenty of room to accommodate a party of 8. We had so much fun playing pool and ping pong. Our only complaint was that we had to rewash some of the dishes before using them. The cabin was clean...but not spotless. We would definitely stay here again.

Beware of Road

The property is nice but size was deceitful from photos. The size worked out okay but kitchen was really small. Bedrooms were all nice size but only 1 bedroom has a bathroom attached the other bathroom is situated between two bedrooms. Nice towels but not enough. Bed linen Ok but spreads need replaced soon. Kitchen is well stocked except for spatulas. Overall a comfortable place to stay. Now about the gravel roads!!! They are not gravel they are mountain rock and tear the heck out of your vehicles. If you don’t have rattles you will after first trip up to cabin. This is the truth! This is not owners fault but just be aware of the roads to cabin.

Nice stay but...

Be aware the road leading to the cabin is dirt, gravel, rock. 4-6 miles pending your route. We stayed on 14 until it turned dirt. Saved 15-20 minutes. Cabin was very nice. We did our own cleaning when we arrived as it appeared not to have been done recently. From there on we enjoyed the week.

Mountain Getaway with spectacular views!

We wanted to get away from the TX heat and found this awesome cabin lodge. Everything was as shown and really delightful. It was very quiet and secluded with spectacular views. It is also a short drive away from many great sites for hiking,, shopping and sight seeing.. We kept ourselves busy and made trips to Breckenridge, Fairplay's historic South Park City Museum, Kenosha Pass, Buena Vista, Kite Lake, and much more! We will be returning again!

Beautiful cabin

The cabin was beautiful, inside and out! The view of the mountains was amazing from the big windows in the living room. The cabin was clean and organized, with plenty of heaters and the floors were heated which was a great! Kids had a blast playing in the snow then playing inside with all the games and the ping pong table. Def need a car/truck with 4-wheel drive to get up to the cabin but it’s totally worth it!!

Great time

We came here for a family Christmas vacation. The cabin had everything we needed from linens, dishes, movies and games. We had a great time. It was a little bit of a drive to the ski resorts but nice and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle. The only downfall was the house was very hard to get warm and keep warm. Overall wonderful place and the property manager was very responsive.

Great location and views

The location of the cabin is great. Quite and secluded with great views of the mountains and forrest. You will find all you need in terms of equipment and necessities (kitchen, bath, bedroom) and all you should do is to provision accordingly with F&B. Fireplace in good working condition and to be fully enjoyed. Need a 4×4 vehicle in winter months. I recommend this property.

Awesome Getaway

We were very happy...out of town, very little traffic, nice mountain property. Worth noting that there is no dishwasher, otherwise well stocked in the kitchen, the bedrooms were gorgeous, as was the view. The kids loved the game loft and we enjoyed watching movies in front of the fire.
