Have stayed here several times. Very private and relaxing. Enjoyed the private pool. Joe and Mary are easy to reach and thorough with the instructions. Debbie got back to us right away as we arrived an hour early. Canât wait to visit again.
We loved the scenic views, the pool and the beautiful sunsets. There were a couple things that showed wear and tear but thatâs expected in a rental. And the owner and manager were both very responsive to all communications. We would love to come back again!
We came down for a week for relaxation. The house is great, comes with everything you need. Has all the basics including enough towels. The house is a twin house and I did not know that. The owner occasionally stays but I was told that side does not get rented and is rarely occupied. The owner was there for our week and was very nice and respectful of our privacy. We spent a lot of time in the pool and the tiki hut. The house could use some updating but itâs exactly what you get from the pictures.
We absolutely loved our stay! Great location, great communication, an overall great rental. The pool and the cabana were a huge plus! We could not have asked for anything more. Thank you so much!!
Fun place to stay... lots to do close to everything.. we had no issues the view is unbelievable, sat and had my coffee looking out at the gulf. Can't wait to go back.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this home and the 3rd time we have stayed at one of this hostâs properties.
Very responsive hostâŠgood communication!
Very clean! Nice warm pool! Cental location. Love the wildlife we see in the canalâŠturtles, manatees, tarpon, parrot fish, etc!
We tried quite a few of the hostâs recommended restaurants and were not disappointed by any of them!
I Highly recommend the Grouper sandwich with mango chutney at Lazy Days South! YUMMY!!!
It would help immensely if the light switches were labeled. There are so many and trying to figure out what switches worked which ceiling fanorlight was a bit confusing.
Checkout time is 10 am, but the house cleaner showed up at 0830 and then waited in her car in the driveway until we left at 10am. A little awkward.đŹ
We really enjoyed staying at the house that we rented for the week, right on a channel. We had our own private swimming pool, but it was a too cool to use it.
This house had it all! The pool overlooks a lagoon teaming with life. Sea turtles, manatees, blue parrot fish and pelicans. The pool stays shaded most of the day and the dock was just right for our 17â Whaler but had room for a much bigger boat. Itâs convenient to the boat ramp, about a mile away. The open floor plan was perfect for relaxing and beating the heat. We had a great time and definitely will stay again!
My husband and I celebrated our 25 anniversary at the Tiki House. The house was exactly as described, comfortable and private. We were lucky enough to have great weather as well. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Our family got to spend Christmas in Marathon this year and this property didnât disappoint. Incredible views from the balcony where we enjoyed coffee every morning and happy hour every evening! Property manager and owner was easily accessible for any questions which we had very few. Having a heated pool was definitely a plus and we enjoyed that. We will definitely be back!
Overall excellent property that was exactly as advertised. Some minor maintenance issues could be addressed and cleaning could have been more thorough. Not sure pool heater actually worked. Would recommend to friends.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The guys liked fishing from the dock. The pool was heated nicely. The kitchen has many appliances and cookware. The beach was about 8 minutes away by car. There are several stores, restaurants close by. The owner responded quickly to issues we had. The queen bed needs replaced. It was not very comfortable and it is noisy! A toilet paper holder with a spring bar in the first bathroom would be nice as the TP kept falling off. We did use the bikes and the kayak All in all, we would stay here again.
We loved our stay here. House is roomy and well equipped. We cook all of our meals so the kitchen is a big item for us. We didnât have to unpack any of the utensils we generally bring as the kitchen was so well equipped. Had more than what we needed. Brand new appliances, plenty of counter area. Washer and Dryer onsite was great. Bed was beyond comfortable. The outside was even better - sunset views are stunning from the deck, great having the Tiki hut. Ate there a number of times, all the gear needed to enjoy, bikes, kayak, fishing items. Spent 2 weeks watching the 2 manatees, sharks and dolphins, sea turtles right from the dock and could see them from the deck as well. Rented a boat and only 5 min to open Gulf. If location is everything then this place is perfection. Pool cleaned and maintained thru out our two weeks as well. Parking underneath was great too. We plan to be back for sure next year. We have stayed at Ocean Point, Florida Bay Club, Cozy Castaway over the past 4 years and this place was overwhelmingly the best.
Keep in mind if you visit the keys in August itâs going to be hot & barely tolerable inside most buildings. I recommend any other months than August.
This unit was fantastic. Unit was very cool in the evenings. Unit was clean & well stocked. The pool was very private. The boats dock had room for two boats. Easy & simple access to a very close neighborhood boat ramp that was never too busy. Super easy access to the Gulf & Atlantic. Water was almost crystal clear even at the dock. Manatees, sea turtles & porpoise greeted us multiple times a day. We were Snorkeling, Lobstering & fishing within just a few minutes since this property was in the heart of the keys. Owners/managers were very easy to contact us other any questions. Plenty of restaurants with a few minutes & a Publix Grocery about 7 minutes from this property.
Boat parking was very tight & difficult to maneuver due to coral rocks around flowerbeds. If you have a boat/trailer under 18â you will not have any issues.
Gorgeous views from the panoramic living areas. Most importantly the unit was clean & felt clean.
First time renting on VRBO and it didn't disappoint. The house was everything it advertised and more.
The house- had everything we needed. There were six of us and we were all comfortable and it was adequate room. There was a fold out bed that our teenage son slept on and it was fine for him. Plenty of dishes and towels. I loved having a washer and dryer on site. We enjoyed the cable tv on nights that we exhausted ourselves in the sunshine. We used the Keurig and it worked great. The fam thought the drinking water was good tasting.
The outdoor space- my kids are complete water lovers and they enjoyed the pool so much! It was big enough and the temperature was warm. The grill worked great. The outdoor furniture was adequate and in good shape. We rented a boat and the dock worked perfect. The fish cleaning station was convenient. We had two manatee come right up to the dock and it was an absolute amazing experience. One of the most memorable actually. We also saw turtles, dolphin, tarpon, jellyfish, parrotfish, and crabs right outside. The tiki hut was great to hang out at and eat meals at. If I could make a suggestion it would be to have some sort of lighting in there so we could eat at night. The chest freezer was an awesome surprise. We were able to buy ice for the boat and keep it in there along with our catches and our bait. The bikes were not attractive but they worked as they should and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We are nerds but the coconuts that had fallen really entertained us. We spent awhile trying to open one to try.
An added bonus was the surrounding houses had new years fireworks that we were able to enjoy from the balcony. Overall as a family of six, we had no complaints and we would stay here again!
This place was okay. We've stayed at better properties and I wish I would have done a little more searching before booking. For the price, there are nicer properties available in Marathon.
First of all, as we were bringing our boat on this trip, I was under the impression from the many photos that feature the boat lift, that the lift came with the property. IT DOES NOT! Imagine our surprise when we pulled up and there's already a boat on the lift! We called the owner and he informed us that it was his in-law's boat and we were to use the docking station next to it. Problem was the pylons were covered in barnacles which would have scraped our boat, so we had to purchase a shovel so we could scrape them off before docking our boat.
The house is cute but the second bedroom is very tiny. There's literally only room for a bed, which would be fine for a family with little kids but we were a group of four adults, so our friends said they felt pretty cramped in the bedroom. The master was large and comfortable. We liked the open concept in the living/dining/kitchen area, however, the ceiling needs some cleaning and the kitchen needs some updating. There are spider webs and dust all around the ceiling. There were trim pieces missing from cupboards, the microwave sounded like it was going to explode when in use and the coffee maker single-shot side did not work. I called and texted multiple times with Debbie and Joe the owner about the coffee maker and never got a response. It was very disappointing and we felt the non-responsiveness was in retaliation to calling and being upset about the boat lift on the first day.
The pool was great, especially after a long hot day fishing, and we enjoyed the location near the airport where we could watch the planes take off. The patio furniture is old and worn but comfortable.
Despite the property not really meeting our expectations, we still had a great time because it's hard not to have a great time in the Keys! Next year I'll be more diligent in researching properties before booking. We would not likely stay here again for the price we paid.
I am a married father of two, avid hockey player and fishing enthusiast with a successful track record in waterfront real estate operations. I had always enjoyed my visit to the Keys over the years as I just found the area so unique. I thought it be cool to have a place in the keys that I could use when I visited. Crystal clear waters with sandy white bottoms, warm temps year round, incredible water views, the best fishing and diving available in the Continental U.S. I could not think of a better place to own a vacation home. While searching for that perfect Keys home, and having rented homes for my own vacations in the past, I made the decision to only buy a home that could also be a vacation rental. This meant that it had to have an open water view, good accessible dock, and that could be legally rented by the week. I purchase my first property in the City of Marathon in 2009. Today I run a small successful vacation home rental business with 5 homes with my wife Mary.
An unique hexagonal homes with 180 degree water views from the living area of this home. The home is located on a quiet saltwater cove connected to the Gulf of Mexico. Views of both the cove and the Gulf are unobstructed by other homes. Mature tropical landscaping surrounds this property. There's a nice tiki hut at the water edges next to a large private pool for your exclusive use.
Marathon's central location in the Middle Keys was the clear choice. Investment was starting to come into the area after the economic recession. Far enough away from the hustles of life but with the conveniences most people want when they vacation. Marathon was also one of the few areas of the Keys where you can rent homes by the week. The licensed program is well run with essential personnel, rental rules and inspections to ensure owners are responsible members of its tourism industry. Marathons businesses cater to both its residents and visitors. All the basic necessities to call it home for many with 2 grocery stores, a Home Depot, library, parks and marine oriented businesses plus a few dozen restaurants/bars, boat rentals, charters and dive shops for its vibrant tourism industry. Fly into Key West, Miami or Ft. Lauderdale International airport and your Keys vacation is only a one to two hour drive away. So much to do right within the city limits or your backyard without every getting in tehe car. Or visit historic Key West, less than an hour drive away.
This is just a very relaxing home with incredible view in a quiet location with lots wildlife. Boat, enjoy a ride in our kayak, fish, snorkel or dive right from the dock. Or just sit back and relax in the pool or sip a margarita under the tiki hut and take in the view. This home will fit the desires of everyone in your party - from the very active sportsman to the nose buried in a novel types.
