Very peaceful vacation. The property is tucked slightly into the trees, so you felt pretty secluded even though it's lakeside. I had some questions before we arrived and the host responded quickly and thoroughly. Kayaking was fun. Lots to explore. The house itself was clean and had everything we needed for the 5 nights we were there (3 adults). I would book this property again
The owner, Sue is wonderful to work with. She answered our questions promptly and the check-in was very smooth. Kitchen is stocked with any utensils, tools, pots and pans you will need. The grocery store in town has almost anything you would need. The inside of the cottage is clean, stocked with lots of towels and linens. 6 people sleep comfortably. The basement has one bedroom with a queen size bed. And a queen pull out couch. The top floor has 2 twin beds. So we were able to get 2 adults and 4 teenagers sleeping comfortably. Main floor is open kitchen and dining room table and a couple of couches. There are spiral staircases that go into the basement and the top floor- kids loved the stairs! The cottage has lots of stairs going to the beach with the dock. Lots of water toys. The only watch-out is there are lots of spiders and spider webs outside of the house, windows, doors, dock due to the setting of the cottage. Benefit is there are no mosquitoes.
We absolutely LOVED everything about this house. The view is AMAZING. The lake is perfect for fishing and swimming. The house is so quiet we stayed for 8 wonderful days and barely seen the neighbors or cars going by. The house has everything you need
I needed time off to decompress, and The Wren House offered the perfect antidote. My partner and I canoed. We chatted with the chipmunks. We scoured our bird book for the names of the variety of bird species who visited. We played games, napped and enjoyed cocktails. We even got to enjoy a great rainstorm (from inside, of course). It was perfect.
My high school friends and I (class of 1987) stayed here for a long weekend to attend a festival. We had the best time! The house was clean and the view of the lake was beautiful. The spiral staircase was kind of scary but if you hold on tight youâll be just fine! There is a bedroom, pull out couch and half bathroom on the bottom floor and a loft with two twin beds on the top floor. Itâs decorated really cute with a beach theme and itâs very comfortable. Definitely recommend!
Our family of 5 had a wonderful time at the Wren house! On nice weather days, we kayaked and canoed on the water and swam by the docks watching the blue gill swim. On our rainy day we opted for a run up to Grand Rapids and out to the sand dunes near Holland, though Kalamazoo was a near option too. There was sufficient space for hanging out and playing games as a family, and we were so thankful for a stocked kitchen so we could make some of our own meals. The lake water was so clear too; we could see the bottom even down 4 or 5 feet. Delton was friendly too, and the Local Grind provided the coffee pick-me-ups.
We had a very pleasant stay here. The view is beautiful and the furniture is comfortable. It was warm enough in October that we got to use the kayaks and that was enjoyable. We were able to see beavers, swans and other birds. The house has a good vibe and we had a nice time staying here.
Great house! 6 of us (4 adults and 2 teens) fit comfortably. The lake was beautiful and we were minutes from a nice grocery store and a great breakfast place. We would love to stay again!
Just an FYI, and the listing states this but the stairs to the water is a *fantastic* workout, lol.
Absolutely wonderful time!! The lake is beautiful and the house is perfect. You can handle stairs This place is a must stay. The dock is in wonderful shape and the canoe and kayak availability was awesome. We had a wonderful stay and might even plan another trip next year. Love this place!
This was a perfect place to stay with our two kids for a week away from home! We spent every day on the water swimming, fishing, and taking advantage of the kayaks and canoe. Our kids loved the rafts and we loved that there were minimal boats creating wakes during the week. The house was cozy and relaxing to return to in the evenings. Thanks for a great week!
A delightful property, well supplied with all the kitchen gear you might need, boats, linens, games, books.
Wonderful view, excellent surroundings - wetlands and lakes full of birds and other wildlife.
Probably not too many better options out there anywhere!
We stayed for Christmas to spend the Holiday with our children. House was decorated nicely, and ready to host our family. For the price, We didnt have huge expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised. One small snag with an electrical outlet that was quickly addressed by very responsive hosts. Cute cottage in a very secluded lake neighborhood. Would stay there again, maybe in the summer to enjoy the lake.
We booked this location for our visit to the Michigan Fiber Festival in Allegan. We also went in to Kalamazoo and South Haven for dinners out and some additional shopping. The decks were great for playing games and hanging out. It was a great place to stay. Thank you!
Charming comfortable house with everything you need on a beautiful quiet lake with. My only complaint. I didnât catch any fish. But I will when I return in the fall.
We had an excellent vacation in this beautiful and peaceful A-frame. Stayed with our 18 and 20-year old kids. So many unique and special features in addition to comfortable and clean accomodations. One of the highlights for us was the birdfeeder right off the deck. So amazing to see an enormous woodpeck just feet from us! Pros:
Peaceful lake-even on weekend the boat traffic was minimal
Birdfeeder
Close to town
Kayaks, canoes & big swimming floats-we swam and kayaked everyday
Comfortable sleeping & clean accomodations
Gas grill-super nice and easy to use
Amazing view from multiple level decks
Host was very helpful andcommunication was quick and easy. Access and check-in was super convenient.
Cons: we couldn't really think of any
One of the unique features was the circular staircase that provided the access to all three levels of the cottage. They were very sturdy and safe-even the scardy cat mom got used to them very quickly,
We loved this cottage and the memories we made together at the lake!
