Great property for our family of four. More people could have stayed given the space downstairs. Great layout and plenty of room. The deck is super spacious and although youâre a block off the beach you can hear the ocean from the bedrooms at night!
The house is in a great location. It's has convenient beach access about a block away, and close enough to get anywhere easily, but tucked away from the busy part of town, so it's quiet. The house is a bit outdated, but is pretty comfortable overall.
The beach was a perfect Oregon beach, lovely views, chilly and uncrowded--the perfect get-away from a very hot Arizona summer! Walking around the north end of the beach point at low-tide was spectacular. Loved seeing a mother deer and fawns wandering through the neighborhood. One of our teens is not a beach guy, so I called before renting to make sure there actually was a working foosball game as listed and was reassured there was. When we got there, there was a foosball, but no pucks. There were a couple drink coasters stuck in the goals. There was a dartboard, but no darts. I called the manager and was told she would check it out with the owner and call back to let me know if there were pucks somewhere and if there were any darts at the place. She never got back to me. The house was clean, we had brought some board games with us. The living room is a nice room to hang out in, play games and you can see the ocean. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking.
The home was very clean and comfortable. The big deck was nice for relaxing out doors. The back yard was fenced in so that was great for our pup. Lawn in back was a bit overgrown. Overall a great place.
Great location and view. A couple of issues we had, 2 of 3 Lights in livingroom did not work. Third was so dirty it put off very little light. Dishwasher was broken but we made due. Will definitely consider staying here again. Price was reasonable and the visitors (deer) were awesome to see each day. Also had a fenced backyard, making it nice for the pups.
Not enough coffee and sugar was provided for the guests - only 3 coffee pods vs required 8-16, no sugar for 2 nights stay of 4 adults. Despite requesting to customer care, it never came. Everything else was great.
Fantastic location... that is about all we can say
To sum up, it was a disappointing stay. We travel regularly and took a chance on this property. Lesson learned to always listen to the bad reviews. The place was old, smelly, and lacked amenities. But the worst thing was the animal scratching/noise (maybe birds or rodents) in the ceiling above the bedroom that kept us up all night. The basement was creepy and smelled weird, so we spent zero time down there. Backyard was so overgrown with grass that it is unuseable. The furniture is old, there are excessive/useless dishes, the shower stall was small, and the shower head sprayed everywhere! It was so bad that we cut our vacation short and left one day early. It is a great place for college kids, not for families. The place needs a major overhaul and attention. Loved the view and location to the beach though!
I'll start off with a note to those who are looking for a luxurious place to spend a vacation indoors while allowing your dog to stay in the backyard - this isn't that place as it is a bit low on luxury and the yard would be an easy escape for even an average IQ dog. There are some facets of the house which could use some updates. But for our needs, however, it was perfect.
We visited Lincoln City for the location on the coast as we wanted to drive north to Tillamook one day and down to Newport the next. We also spent time on the beach which is essentially just block down the road...and we enjoyed the view and sounds of the ocean from the spacious front deck.
The master bedroom was comfortable and the kitchen was nicely appointed. We didn't use the lower level much (just the washer and dryer after getting soaked in a flash storm when we were about a mile down the beach) but as other reviewers commented, there was a bit of a musty smell downstairs.
This property is close to everything we needed in Lincoln City and an easy drive to some of our favorite sites along the coast. We'd stay here again.
Unfortunately, this house is untenable. The basement has a terrible smell, the dryer is not working and the entire place is dirty. Our whole family is shocked by the condition, considering the $1700 price tag. I had some concerns about the listing but when I saw it was a Meredith properties listing I expected it to be nice. Our many previous experiences with Meredith have been nothing but amazing over the last 15 years. Meredith roper ties did offer to re-house us after I complained but in a home that was far from our friends. We were there to spend time with them so we chose to stay in the filth instead and they refunded us 1/2 of one nights stay. We were extremely disappointed all around and recommended to Meredith they remove this property from their management.
Overall, I really liked this property. It was very clean, and I do not agree with other reviewers who characterized it as run-down. It certainly isn't brand new or pristine, but it was nicer than the vast majority of hotels I have stayed in. It had a nice family atmosphere, and the basement is a great place to send the kids off to have their own domain. The kitchen is huge, and very well supplied with appliances, dishes, 12 pot holders, 4 aprons, etc. The adjacent dining area was where we spent most of our time hanging out, and it is large enough for your entire group.
The neighborhood is primarily vacation homes, many also managed by Meredith. There was one neighbor 2 doors down who seemed to be a resident and who had a chip on her shoulder about something. The walk to the beach is a quick one, and the beach access is just north of the more heavily populated areas of Road's End (it's far enough from public parking that most people don't venture that far).
There were also a lot of little things that were not mentioned, like a play area in the garage, full of toys and beach stuff, and a cupboard full of kitchen appliances.
The 2 areas I knocked off a star:
1. Check-in: There are a bunch of extra forms and agreements that you have to sign AFTER booking and paying for the reservation via VRBO. I am not sure if that aligns with VRBO policies, but learning of numerous extra rules and potential fees after booking is not a great experience.
2. They advertise a fully fenced backyard. While that may be true, the fence is primarily old chicken wire which is partially collapsed and full of holes. If you have a pet that can jump more than 3 feet, or who can fit through a 1 foot hole in a fence then this fence won't keep them in. $50 spent on new chicken wire and stakes to anchor it might help with this, but a better option would be to replace the fence with a proper chain-link fence.
Unable to use basement facilities due to flooding, finally dried after 3rd day but was still unable to use due to the chemical smell. Chemical smell drifted to upstairs as well which was bad for person staying with allergies. We reached out to office and was told they would send the next day for inspection, but inspector was here when we arrived and told us just to unplug fans if too noisy. So we figured new inspector would be if no help so we just never were able to use the downstairs during our entire stay. Very disappointing.
On arrival we also could not get access to the property, had to drive a mile away to call due to no cell service. Finally got not house at 5pm.
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Not as promised.
There was a horrible musty odor that we were PROMISED had been rectified (I specifically asked ahead of time).
We were told a day before we arrived that one of the toilets was out of service and they would let us know well before our arrival if it had been fixed. We were never given an update. Luckily, when we got there it had been fixed, but the lack of communication made it stressful as we wondered if we should have cancelled. Hard to do the day of our arrival after traveling a long distance to the location.
We were specifically promised that there would be business level and secure WIFI internet access. It was neither. It didnât have any password. It was a different network than what was listed in the house instructions. It was a worse speed than dial-up. My partner needed the secure access to work while at the house. We would not have rented here if we knew the reality. We were lied to.
We were told the yard was fully fenced for our child with disabilities as well as our dog. It was only partially fenced which is not secure and did us no good. We would not have rented here if we had known this.
We were promised a game room with air hockey (it did not work and there were no pucks), a dart board (with no darts), and toys for the kids to play with. The game room is one of the reasons we specifically rented this house. It was unusable and dirty. There were children's dirty clothes and even dirty diapers left there.
Overall we were very disappointed.
This property was in a great location: away from the busy tourist sections of Lincoln City, within 2 blocks of the beach, restaurants and grocery store nearby.
We were most appreciative of the property manager. Quick replies to our varied inquiries.
The downstairs smelled. Very disappointing that they didn't want to fix the dryer after asking all week. Finally gave up. Beds were very comfortable though. Couldn't figure out how to use the TV. To many remotes. Enjoyed the beach. Lost my dog but she came back the next day. I'm glad we were at roads end or that might have been different turn out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I took my teenage daughter and her friends for a birthday trip. The downstairs was perfect for them...and pretty much soundproof for me and my book upstairs đ
