The Snuggery was one of our favorite stays! The location was great, and it was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, and the coffee beans were much appreciated. So fun to be able to walk around the corner to the quaint little town of Southwest Harbor, yet be so close to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, etc. Communication with the host was easy as well.
This place was perfect for our late fall getaway weekend to the Acadia National Park area. The studio was extremely comfortable and communication with owners was excellent. The muffins were a nice touch and greatly appreciated!
We think Southwest Harbor is the perfect spot to stay within MDI/Acadia, and this studio apartment is the perfect spot to stay within Southwest Harbor. It's a quiet, cozy retreat, and yet you are right in the middle of everything you need, including plenty of great restaurants and cute shops. We liked being able to bike to most of the hikes on Quietside - even more exercise! It's also easy to take the free bus over to Bar Harbor, the carriage roads, and all the hikes on that side of MDI. The studio itself was comfortable and clean and really thoughtfully appointed. Great style, too! All the information provided was super helpful; we arrived to fresh flowers, muffins, and coffee, and communication with the hosts was easy. Highly recommend that you stay here for your visit to Acadia National Park!
The Snuggery was perfect for the two of us! We wanted to spend most our time exploring Acadia, and while this side of the island did require a 15-20 min drive to the main parts of the park, there were also some excellent hikes that were much closer and just as beautiful. We were less than 5 min. from a grocery and mini-golf, 10 min. from kayaking, and at the end of a long day of activity, we were able to clean up and walk less than 100 yards to a number of excellent restaurants. We loved being on the 'quiet side' of the island, away from the bustle of Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor was nice to visit and shop around for a bit, but we preferred the vibe of Southwest Harbor. The apartment itself was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. (and there were fresh flowers and muffins to welcome us!) If there weren't so many restaurants to try out, we could have easily cooked our meals here. Despite being so close to the main road, it was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Snuggery to anyone that wanted to enjoy Acadia on the "quiet side".
My sister and I had a wonderful long weekend in Acadia staying at The Snuggery. The space was clean, comfortable, and very functional. We appreciated having the full kitchen equipped with basics such as coffee filters. The location is in the middle of Southwest Harbor, walkable to restaurants, etc. - it is a beautiful area and much quieter than Bar Harbor. Property managers were friendly and helpful! Everything was easy. We'd definitely come back and stay again!
We had a great time during our stay at the Snuggery. Itâs a really cute place and very clean. The location was great â we liked that it was pretty quiet in Southwest Harbor, even on Main Street, and that we could easily drive into Bar Harbor and Acadia.
One thing to be aware of is that the property does not have air conditioning â when we got there it was 83 degrees inside, but by the second night with fans on and the windows open it cooled off to 74-78 and we slept very well.
Thank you Shawn and Brian!
We enjoyed our three night stay at this cute place. Everything was just as it was stated and host was super easy to work with. We loved the location of this quaint little town close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Even though some of the business were closing up for the winter we still found lots of things to see and do.
The property is as described. Owners are very responsive yet respectful of your privacy. The location is in Town. Walked to some great food. Rode bikes to waterfront dining for lobster fresh off the dock. Great hiking within 2 miles. Busy side of the island (Bar Harbor) is about 25 mins drive. Enjoying staying here for five nights.
This property is an updated studio at the back of a storefront. We enjoyed the king bed and the modern kitchen area, which also had basics such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, sugar and coffee filters. There are plenty of places to store luggage and put away or hang clothes. We also loved that we could go right around the corner to shops, cafes and the Island Express bus stop. Southwest Harbor is away from the chaos of Bar Harbor and we liked that. Because this building is older and has other units, there is some noise through the walls and above but it never interfered with our sleep or activities. There is no washer and dryer but there is a nice laundromat just up the street, which we used once. You may want to bring a few extra bath towels if you like a fresh one each day or let the owner know to stock more. We stayed for 5 days and quickly used the four towels in the unit but we hung them to dry and reused them. This unit also does not have AC and it did get into the 80âs a few of our days but there is a fan and we were never uncomfortable. You can drive easily and pretty quickly to just about anywhere on the island from this unit. Booking, checking in and communication with the owners was all good.
We moved from Seattle to Maine in 1997 and ran our coffee shop "Milagro Coffee & Espresso" on Mt. Desert Island for 22 years. Not only do we love the beauty of the island but the close knit community that exists here.
This apartment is right in the center of downtown Southwest Harbor. You can literally park your car and walk, bike, hike or take the bus to Acadia National Park and most of Mt. Desert Island. The apartment has been well cared for as is very comfortable.
