Thank you for the constructive feedback. I think we may have a bug on the customer side that is confusing people about the washer and dryer. We do not and did not misrepresent that. However, I did have a dear friend tell us it was showing as such. We will call VRBO to fix this and our apologies. Yes - We agree that an outdoor shower is a nice touch. Hi Tamika! I’m sadden to even hear the “tad” bit cleaner. Our cleaning team prides themselves on the highest standards and takes special care in their craft! We did check with them and nothing was out of sorts! I’m not sure if something blew in with the windows open or the door being open; however, we do take comments like that seriously! I will say next time please call us or email to inform and the team would go by and take care of it! Over-all we are glad you had fun! Thanks for the feedback!

We are super excited you enjoyed your trip. Yes, the linen’s can be a challenge. However, we do that to keep the cost lower and disclose that in the listing. To add that to the listing would increase the cost on the housekeeping side. Services have ballooned due to the labor shortage and housing cost for those in the workforce! Thanks for understanding! Our mid-twentieth century cottage is absolutely cozy and full of everything one needs for a vacation. We are VERY clear what comes with the property and strategic in our offerings in order to keep our prices well below the East Chop area according to market data. We provide hanging systems in replace of dressers to limit the footprint – much like they do in Europe for smaller homes. Again, we are clear with our renters why we don’t provide linens and a washer/dryer. Market research shows that those properties cost more than $400.00 per night – in fact over $500.00 per night - to accommodate the additional cost of labor. Our renters enjoy bringing their own linens or utilizing services such as Martha’s Linens. Our past guests have been politicians, advocates, educators, university leaders, media executives to name a few and all have provided fabulous reviews. I’m NOT sure who these renters are and their spirit behind this review. If they wanted complete leisure toys then we recommend they increase their budget for that time of year to find a place that provides those amenities. We did have an issue with our HULU account which was fixed after they left because we didn’t know. Our renters right after them communicated unlike these renters. The renters right after them told us of the HULU issue and we immediately fixed the matter. See…all you have to do is communicate. Our 2 years of reviews speak for themselves; however, what was surprising was the report from our cleaning team that these renters left trash on the floor throughout our historic home and broke our nostalgic coffee pot. We thought we were being compassionate by NOT charging them the total cost to replace the item and can see these renters did not appreciate how we managed their mistake – SAD. Yes, we have a fence blown down by a wind-storm pre-COVID and with the labor and materials shortage it was EXTREMELY hard to contract services before the season. We have not received ANY reports of fencing just on the ground in the yard. However, a report from them during their stay would have allowed us the opportunity to fix it if true. These were less than ideal renters who would NOT be allowed back into our home. We were going to be polite and not speak on such matters; however, since they decided to insult our historic cottage, we thought we would respond with the truth of the matter. We NEVER would rent our family home this much in the past. However, we thought it a special place for those who understand Oak Bluffs, East Chop, and Martha’s Vineyard. Perhaps these renters would be better off in the South Shore of Long Island, NY; Outer Banks, NC or the Northern Gulf Coast of Florida; or a lake property. They seem to provide the amenities they are looking for in the price range they paid to be on Martha’s Vineyard or even less. It is Martha’s Vineyard and life is costly so I understand why they crammed a larger family into our cozy cottage. Cheers!
