We really enjoyed our stay. Perfect location, nice house and clean! Quiet neighborhood and just a few minutes from the beach. The only negative is that the thermostat reset the temperature every day and it was warm when we returned because of the afternoon sun coming through the windows above the door and curtains. Thankfully it didnât take too long to cool the house down. We will definitely stay here again!
First of all the positives. The home was large with plenty of room. The bed was very comfortable. Most of the furniture was nice. Appliances were good. The location of the home was excellent for our needs, and just a couple miles from Manasota Beach. Peaceful neighborhood. On a less positive note, the home was in need of a deep cleaning. Lots of dust and dirty floors. When we arrived, one bed just had a pile of sheets sitting on top of it in a clump, and we were unsure if they were clean or dirty. There were no dressers in the bedrooms to keep your clothing. Most of the towels were thin, scratchy, and worn. the yard and landscaping were totally neglected. We did enjoy our stay overall, and would consider staying again if some attention were paid to the issues noted above.
My husband & I stayed here for the month of February for the second time. We like:
A preserve to walk in is nearby
Close to Manasota Beach and other beaches
Short bike ride to the Waterway Trail
Layout of the house with 2 bedroom/2 bath
Large screened lanai to hang out on
Quiet, safe neighborhood
We would stay here again!
Perfect house for two couples. Master bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house to allow for more privacy. The screened in porch was lovely and kept all mosquitos away. It is a five minute drive to the beach where you can look for lots of shark teeth! I would definitely recommend this house!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The house was roomy, comfortable and welcoming. It is in walking distance to a local park and we walked over most mornings to watch for bald eagles that have nested there for many years. The Manesota Beach is close enough to ride our bikes to our continue along the beach road to Englewood. Venice and it's restaurants are only a short drive away. This place is highly recommended
The home was clean and airy. Loved the walk in closet in master bedroom. We met one of the neighbors, very nice. They provided bikes and beach chairs. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Les points faibles : Communication et emplacement
Strange Interaction
The first day we were there Marina texted and said the owner wanted to enter the garage to park his motorcycle. This request would be the next day between 8 and 9 at night. This seemed odd and I asked that she call me. She did and I why we could not park our brand new car in the garage. She gave me some crazy story and I said that the only reason we rented the house was because it did have a garage and the description of the house did not say we could not park our car in the garage. This was very disappointing however we complied. The owner never showed up and Marina did not answer any of my messages as to why he did not come. We also did not like having outside cameras watch our every move!
Also, I know we had to pay an additional fee for the house to be cleaned and then weâre asked to tip the house cleaners! Really? The house was not all that clean. Lights and fans were full of dust. Just not a pleasant stay.
The property has very good bones - nice location and rooms, but lacks some key amenities.
Living/dining room furniture was of good quality and comfort and was well arranged.
Bedrooms have no dressers, so what to do with a weekâs worth of clothes becomes a question.
Likewise, the kitchen equipment is not up to standard: few matching plates, utensils, or glasses and a poor, scratched-up selection of pots/pans.
Overall, the kitchen equipment was similar to what you might expect to find in a college kidâs first apartment. A $300 trip to Target would fix this.
The shower stall in the primary bath showed a good deal of mildew. I bought spray to try and reduce it.
Also, the clip that holds the handheld shower head was broken, so showers were 100% one-handed. I shared that info with the property manager, but it took well over 48 hours to resolve. Management offered to send someone out Christmas Day, but I waived that off, so donât count that time in the 48 hours.
Landscaping is underwhelming, with overgrown shrubs and dead potted trees out back and weeds overgrowing the walkway out front, which I removed.
The supplied charcoal barbecue is tiny, rusty, and about 16 inches tall. The plastic Adirondack chairs are old, so the chalky finish comes off onto your clothes.
It would be helpful to have the switches throughout the house labeled for convenience.
If the above issues were addressed, I would have no hesitation about coming back to the house. So much potential!
The house was very nice and had all the amenities, but due to flight delays we checked in after dark and there were no exterior lights on or motion detector lights, which made it very, very difficult to work the combination on the lock box. Also, my sister had a nasty fall on the walkway after dark because of the poor lighting. One of the bikes has a broken handlebar so we were not able to use them. We baked muffins one morning and the oven smoked very badly and smelled like electrical chemicals. We did not use the oven after that. I think it needs to be cleaned or replaced. Also, oven light would not turn off. However, house was otherwise very comfortable. Neighborhood was very quiet.
Rented the house for a month because we are here cleaning up from the hurricane when we got to the house it was 80 degrees in the house so I turned it down to 60 to cool of faster well after working all day and unpacking I forgot to turn it down so they set the thermostat to 74 degrees and locked it I asked if we could at least turn it to 70 because it was warm at night and they told me I could but never unlocked the thermostat so if like to sleep when the house is 75 degrees this is the right house for you
Loved the layout.
Needs a little TLC.
Neighbors friendly. Neighborhood "eclectic". Some properties immaculate. Some properties pretty sad. Neighborhood needs some covenants and enforcement.
Lot next door is about to go under construction. I would want to know if I was renting during that time.
Nice house with beachy decor inside. It has a great screened-in lanai at the back that has seating plus a table with chairs. Vegetation and trees behind the house nicely obscure the house to the back and lots of birds and squirrels can be seen in the trees there. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and well-maintained. If you like to walk through nature, the Lemon Bay Preserve is right down the street and around the corner. If you like to walk around the neighborhood, you can safely walk on the streets which are not at all busy. If you like to hang out at the beach, Manasota Beach is a short 1-mile drive. If you like to bicycle, you can safely ride your bicycle 3 miles to the Venetian Waterway Trail that begins in Shamrock Park. That trail links up with the Legacy Trail to provide 20 miles of continuous bicycling. It is a 6-mile drive to downtown Venice with its park, shops and restaurants.
There were good and bad about this property but I felt because the bad outweighed the good, I wouldn't stay here again. You may have a different experience but this was mine. I attempted to contact the property manager 6 days before check in because the Canadian border was potentially closing with Omnicron and I wasn't sure of my options. I never heard back. Then 3 days before we were leaving, I was getting worried. So I reached out again and said we would be travelling and asked when we should expect information for our arrival . I still never heard anything back. Now I was getting really worried because we had to cross the border and no one was responding. I didn't know if they were still reachable and I needed time to cancel if they weren't. Finally 2 days before, I contacted VRBO. They told me to call them. So I did. Still no answer. That night I called VRBO again and they called them with no response. Finally they sent a message to the property manager with a deadline and the morning before we were set to travel, they finally sent the info. A disappointing start to an already challenging time to travel. So communication was really poor.
Once we arrived, the place wasn't the cleanest. There was a layer of dust on the bedroom lamps, the sheets smelled musty and we found a couple of inspects on the curtains and in the kitchen. Possibly palm roaches. I didn't bother to reach out because there was enough disappointing things that it wasn't worth the effort. I did tell her the issues before we left like no garbage bags, no dishwasher rinse aid so we couldn't use the dishwasher - maybe we were supposed to supply all that??. Not sure if we were and if so, I didn't anticipate having to stock a house with the bare necessities. Maybe I have just been lucky with other rentals. Chairs in the back of the house were so dirty, you couldn't sit on them. I sent her pictures and she said it was due to the tornado but they were a permanent dirty and broken up. You couldn't even clean them. She did say she wished I had reached out sooner but alot of the things wrong should not have been left up to the renters to deal with on vacation.
Good things about the house - the location was fantastic, they had bikes at the house you could use, and when the tornado blew through and we lost power, she was quick to call the power company.
All in all, I expected more. But if the price is right for you and you have low expectations, you may do alright.
Our goal was to check-out Venice to see if this might be a good location for a retirement property. While the house itself was nice, comfortable and very private, it is buried in a neighbor that is approximately 25 minutes away from the actual town of Venice. Before we booked, I googled "South Venice" proximity to the downtown area and it appeared much closer than it actually was.
The dishwasher didn't work (but OK since we spent very little time there). Also, we woke one morning to no power. A neighbor told me it happened in that house often. It didn't take long to be restored after calling the property management, but by that time we had taken cold showers and were ready for our next site-seeing adventure.
Personally, I would not stay here again based on the poor location to the downtown area & the fact that we could never find our way out of the neighborhood (buried in the boonies). If you just want to get-away and mostly stay at the house, this will be a good location for you. If you like to be near the action, this is not the place for you.
Hope the review helps others.
The property was comfortable. The only issue was the TVâs. One bedroom had a air antenna with very limited channels and one bedroom had a very small old TV that didnât work at all. The TV in the living room was a smart TV with limited cable channels.
My husband and I slept well and enjoyed using the kitchen. The faucet for the sink in the kitchen leaked at the joint where you switch from spray to stream and needs replacing but this home worked well for us!
Very clean property, near beach. Has everything you need, well equiped. Quiet neighborhood. I highly reccomend this property as you wont be disappointed! Pictures are exactly how the propery looks.
Hidden Charm! We loved the house especially the lanai. We loved the location. It was very quiet and private. The house was very comfortable. There were a few minor problems but nothing serious.
We had a great time. From the property it was about a 20 minute bike ride to the beach and a 45 minute ride to the YMCA. The house is located in a quiet and pleasant community.
The property was exactly as seen in the pictures. Very nice, simple space for retirees to enjoy the Florida weather. We brought our own cooking utensils and pots and pans, since we were staying for 1 month and wanted to cook at home. We really enjoyed the bikes and beach chairs.
