The house was very nice and closely matched the photos provided. Some of the furniture showed signs of wear from use, and it appeared there may have been a gap between our stay and the previous guests. Unfortunately, the dishwasher and other common areas had not been refreshed prior to our arrival. Some of the bedding had visible stains, which was a concern, though overall the property was pleasant and well-appointed. The yard was overgrown, which limited our ability to fully enjoy some of the outdoor spaces.
Well we first got there the house was not clean, I contacted the homeowner and he had us leave so the cleaning crew could come and do their thing. Which was a little inconvenient after traveling over 6 hours. The location was great though.
Country settings, we watch a family of gray foxes play and hunt rabbits! Property was well maintained clean and comfortable. NOTE: Plan to bring your own water. The water is bitter with lime.
Had a great time celebrating with family. Be careful not the drive up there if you are traveling in at night. Enjoyed the rustic, country feel of the place. Need wine bottle opener.
Wildflowers and peaceful nights under the stars made our weekend enjoyable. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was adequate for feeding the family. Would recommend!
My party of eight had a great time here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in or near Dripping Springs. The property has amazing views and the owner is very responsive and helpful!
This is a good spot for larger groups as it can accommodate many folks to sleep. The horses next door are a special treat and our dog loved meeting them! The cleanliness was impeccable.
We enjoyed our stay, but I would describe it as more of a hunting lodge feel with wear n' tear than simple luxury or upscale hotel as the listing says. It may be that my husband and I were not the target audience for this--it's probably intended for bigger groups that want to hit wineries/distilleries for the weekend. There are a couple small things like lack of comfortable seating and quirks to keeping the shower going which if you don't know, can leave you with shampoo in your hair! All in all, good trip but would definitely recommend for groups, not couples, in order to get the value from the weekend.
We were in town for a wedding in Dripping Springs, and the groom and 6 groomsmen stayed here through the weekend. It was a fantastic place to stay with beautiful views of the Texas hill country. I highly recommend this place!
We enjoyed our stay and plan to return. We were able to get friendly with the rescue horses and were surprised to see so many animals in the natural setting ( foxes, deer, and birds ) from the kitchen table and bedroom balcony.
The seclusion, the remoteness, the darkness, the silence, nestled between mountains in the hill country.
Clean air, fresh air, warm summer night air, cool morning air.
With family and friends in a nice cozy little cabin just right for 8 adults and one child.
We all slept like babies and recharged the soul.
ANDâŠ..Penny the donkey and Clem, tap, yaya and midasâŠ..some of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen.
It was a great experience for my 8 year old who just fell in love them and happily fed them the nearby grass.
Sorry if thereâs a couple of bald patches of grass that she begged me to pull up.

This cozy house was a really fun and beautiful place to stay. We loved feeding the horses and donkey at the rescue that bumps up to the property. We loved the privacy and space we had and of course the beautiful view from the deck.
This is a great home that sits on top of the hill on the property. We loved watching the sunset from the balcony! Great location to state parks, breweries and wineries. It was very clean and welcoming. We just wish the property had been maintained outside. We were unable to enjoy the area around the house due to the landscape being overgrown. Overall a great trip and experience for my family!
Beautiful little cabin in hill country. Minutes away from Dripping and itâs numerous breweries and vineyards. We want to go back when itâs warm so we can enjoy the backyard more there and bring some firewood. Quite a lovely and isolated place. Just go slow up the driveway if you are driving a low slung car. :). Canât wait to rent again
The property was beautiful. We sat on the deck and watched the sunset each night. The neighboring horses and donkeys were a hit too. The house was great and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathrooms even had toiletries. The washer and dryer came in handy. I definitely recommend!
My partner and I love traveling, food and tech. We have been successfully managing properties throughout Austin & Dripping Spring for the past 5 years. We have made it our goal to make sure that our guests are provided with the things they need to make their stays in our properties restful, relaxing, and carefree. We welcome your questions, concerns, or feedback before, during, and after your stay with us.
We fell in love with both properties the moment we saw it. We always wanted a place we can have large friends and family gatherings. The 5 Acre Hill country retreat includes 2 properties. We love the remote feel yet still close to downtown Dripping Spring.
