First and foremost, we wish this guest and his family nothing but the best. While it is unfortunate to read this review, we materially disagree with the comments and feel a response is in order for the benefit of future renters. We have never had a negative review in all the years we have shared our family home with VRBO/HomeAway guests, so this is unfamiliar territory. After what appeared to be a pleasant stay, we were notified of a potential problem by our guest the day after they checked out of a 6-day vacation. The renter stressed he was not seeking a refund, but only informed us so no future renter would potentially be affected. Concerned, we immediately contacted our pest control expert to inspect the property (and also ended up agreeing to pay for a second inspector). Due to the results of those inspections, we did not feel that the incident was a result of any neglect on our part, or was even the result of staying at our home. The mountains naturally have various insects due to the wilderness environment. As such (alongside multiple discussions with inspectors), we did not believe our home to be the cause of any rashes - but still offered a free stay. The renter rejected our offer and demanded a refund in an email that included the following: “If the situation stands as is in 48 hours, we will post the below review and include photos.” We will let readers assess the meaning of that comment. In any event, we decided against giving in to the threat. We have had 7 families, including our own, stay at the home since the Christmas holiday and there has not been a single incident remotely similar to the above description. We assure each and every guest that our home always has, and always will be, maintained in a professional manner including, but not limited to: - Professional cleaning following the vacancy of each VRBO guest. - Since the property is located in the mountains we have Orkin Pest Control conduct monthly inspections and maintenance of the entire home. - Monthly cleaning and chemical control inspection of hot tub. We have been designated by VRBO as a Premier Partner for excellent service to our guests over the years, and encourage any potential guest to reach out with any questions.
