We loved staying here. The little extras were so thoughtful, the situation idyllic and a lovely area of France. Our kids loved the donkey and the hot tub. We will return
This was my first trip to France one week in Paris and we ended our last week and Normandy. I must say this cottage was a little piece of heaven, so quiet and tranquil and peaceful. This location was great do to the fact we were able to drive to all of our vacation spots within an hour or so. The small town where the cottages is in gave us everything we needed. I would therefore recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to getaway in the country with all the accommodations just like in the city. I give the cottage the location and the town and excellent rating. And to the owner Thierry, thank you so much for everything you did if I have to go back to Normandy I would definitely stay there again.
We had such a wonderful time at your Palace! (I meant to write place, but autocorrect changed it into Palace, rightly so). Beautiful house, enormous garden, our kids loved the horse and donkey. We enjoyed the hot tub and the BBQ. But especially the peace and quiet, the beautiful surroundings, but also the nice villages near the coast. Loved the warm welcome with bread, eggs, cheese and juice. Already looking forward to come again!
We so enjoyed spending a week touring Normandy with friends while staying at this charming home. From the well stocked kitchen, to the comfortable living spaces and bucolic outdoor setting, we couldnât have asked for more. But there was more. Hosts Thierry and Caroline were so helpful and responsive they made this visit a stand out. The donkey and horse were another added bonus, adding to the charm. Loved it here!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay here with our 1yr old son in October. Cosy place in serene surroundings. Close to many sights and delicious ciders/cheeses. Thierry and Caroline were very welcoming and helpful. We definitely recommend this place to others looking for some peace and quiet in a wonderful area with lots to do and see.
The luxury gite is an old barn which has been really beautifully restored with lots of taste. It is located in a beautiful area, very calm, out in the open, absolutely beautiful.
The gite is well equipped with everything you need.
It was exactely what we had been looking for to get away for a few days from everyday business . The owners are very charming people and the Customer service was good.
Everything was as described , it was even more than what was expected. Lovely hosts, very welcoming .
I would definitely come back in the winter or the summer.
I already told all my Parisian friends about it.
So much to do around, between Deauville and all the pretty villages , visiting cider producers, butter and cheese farmers, ...
We loved it.
We had a wonderful holiday here. The owners had thought of everything. Really nice but quirky decor in the house - felt really special. Hot tub was lovely. The children loved the animals. Very private position but we knew the owners were close by had we needed them. Can't fault the place, except bit tricky to find at first as 'very' rural.
I have traveled to France many times over the years. But, this visit - which was anchored by our stay at La Vie de Cocagne - was the most perfect yet. Thierry and Caroline have created a beautiful, comfortable, inviting space at the cottage ... just right for our needs with three, but very capable of accommodating more. The grounds on the farm create a quiet and relaxing environment, where even the tightest wound top couldn't help but unwind. Easily accessible from all directions - Paris/Rouen to the east, Caen/Bayeaux/Mont St. Michel from the west, D-Day beaches and small resort towns to the north, countryside from the south. And situated in a quaint little town ... with other towns within a few miles ... to cover off necessities, wonderful restaurant options, and easy ways to experience life in Normandy. Be sure to ask Thierry and Caroline for advice on how best to use your time ... they can take you off the beaten path and help with logistics, if you need it. The only downside of our stay was having to leave. No doubt, we'll visit our friends (two and four legged!) at La Vie de Cocagne again! Thank you, Caroline and Thierry, for a memorable and magnificent visit.
Had such a fantastic and relaxing time at La Vie de Cocagne! The house, garden and view looked even better than I thought they would. Everything was done to make this home your own and everything you might need is just where you'd want it to be. The area is charming, quite and near all of the places you may want to visit during your stay. Will definitely book the house again!
The cottage is as beautiful as the website suggests. Every home comfort has been considered. The country setting is idyllic, the adjacent donkeys are amusing and the privacy wonderful.
We wholly recommend the property.
This beautifully decorated residence is situated in a quiet rural setting. Good walking tracks nearby. You'll also find cute villages and good restaurants just a few minutes drive away. Well equipped kitchen, with a supply of food in the fridge for breakfast or a snack attack. Each of the bedrooms downstairs has it's own bathroom. The property has been renovated and furnished with considerable taste but still maintains its authentic feel with timber beams and a tiled floor. The setting in summer is idyllic with gardens and mature trees, including a cherry tree. Two friendly donkeys and a horse are in the adjoining field. The hosts live close by and are available if any problems arise. We couldn't fault the property or the service.

la vie de cocagne...
This was the first time I rented a holiday home in Europe and it was the perfect stay! Thierry (the owner) provided excellent directions, service and assistance. The house was as pictured online (no ugly surprises or false advertising...it even had the donkey that's on their website! :) )
A few minutes drive from the house is a nice little town with all neccessities. Other attractions and tourist sites are a close drive. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for 'a home away from home'!

Great cottage, tastefully furbished and very cosy atmosphere. The hosts are very friendly and allow dogs. Very peaceful area and lot's of possiblities to go for long walks and visit some of the sourrounding 'haras' if you love race horses like we do.
We had a FABULOUS time at la vie de cocagne. It really is as good as it looks. Bravo to the owners for creating such a wonderful property.

We are working in the events business, owning our own business. Born and raised in Normandy, we will be pleased to give you all our best addresses and tips to discover our beautiful region.
When we bought the property in 2000, we started renovating the main house where we are leaving. There was a barn on the estate which was falling apart. We started renovation in 2006, to turn it into a private guest house. We opened it to travellers in May 2007. The aim was to offer a comfortable secondary house to make our guests feeling at home.
Very quiet, no major road, surrounded by horses (neighbouring stud farm). La Vie de Cocagne is regularly shot for Decoration magazines. Private heated outdoor hot tub. A feeling of being far from everything but located 15 mns from Deauville and Trouville, one hour from the dday beaches and all major Normandy sites.
