Everything was perfect, from the very warm welcome to the beautiful house, very well located in a charming village. It was exactly as described in the article, all was done to make us feel good during our holidays
Property is situated in the heart of the town, close to restaurants, bars amenities and beaches.
It's tastefully furnished and has a well equipped 'open kitchen'. Roof terrace is a rare treat, with views across the town and sea.
Rodrigo left detailed information and recommendations. For such a small town it has some excellent bars and restaurants and his tips were spot on.
Lovely beaches close by, accessible by foot, bike (there are bikes you can use at the house) or ferry. There is also abundant birdwatching nearby. Tavira is a short bus ride or 40-50 minute walk away. It's worth a visit (or two).
We didnt hire a car but when we return, we will do to explore the region.
If you want a buzzing nightlife, maybe look elsewhere. Santa Luzia is a small town with heaps of charm. Rodrigo is an excellent host and the house is a great base to explore S.Luzia and the wider area. Will be back.
Its very tastefully
As self catering holidays are increasingly commercialised and owned by companies, staying in an independently owned property is something I really enjoy. The house is lovingly restored with stylish and thoughtful architectural choices. It feels as though the owners are proud of their home- and they should be. Wonderful semi- outdoor kitchen and chic marble kitchen island. Large patios for sunbathing, looking at the stars, eating outside. Outdoor shower after a day at the beach is perfect ! Comfortable beds, air con.
Rodrigoâs guide to the area is the only guidebook you need! It gives published guides a run for its money.
The recommendations are spot on. I used to holiday in the area as a child and thankfully Santa Luzia is still as charming and unspoilt by over the top tourism as it was back then. Lots of places to eat, wonderful seafood of course. Sleepy cafes with coffee for 1euro and locals chatting in the shade. Quiet evening walks along the sea front. We would most certainly return.
the house is just as lovely as in the fotos.
it's in a quiet road in a nice fisher village near the water and has everything you need - even beach towels, umbrellas and 2 bikes. the roof terrace is so nice, we saw flamingos flying over it. you can reach 2 beaches nearby, one with a ferry leaving a short walk from the house and another one which you can reach in 10 min by bike + 10 min walk/short train ride. tavira is also near, you can take the bikes. we always found a parking sport nearby.
the host is also really nice and helpful.
If youâre after a quiet, relaxing stay, away from the usual busy resorts then this place is for you!!
The apartment has everything you need and is close to everything in the village. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is modern and you have a hob and BBQ in the kitchen if you want to eat in on an evening. There is a tall table on the roof where you can sit, have a drink and enjoy the sunset.
The information supplied by Rodrigo about the apartment, the village and local area was superb. We relied heavily on it. Unfortunately he couldnât be there on our arrival, however his parents were there to let us in and show us around. The welcome drinks left in the fridge for us was a very nice surprise.
There are surprisingly a lot of restaurants (I mean a lot) for the size of the village. Our favourite was the Sam Jeito tapas restaurant. Nice food, very friendly staff and owner, they even gave us a free drink each one evening.
I recommend getting the small ferry boat to the Terra Estreita beach. It is soooo quiet and plenty of room, the beach goes on for miles. The isnât much there in terms of restaurants, so we took our own food. Rodrigo has a supply of beach umbrellaâs that you can take with you.
You can also walk to Barril beach from the apartment, this is slightly busier but has more in terms of cafes, restaurants etc.
I would highly recommend this apartment. We would definitely go back again the next time we are looking for a relaxing holiday.
Tolles Haus mit wunderbarer Dachterrasse (nachts fliegen die Flamingos ĂŒber unseren Köpfen hinweg), groĂartiger Herd, schöne Aussendusche! Obwohl mittendrin ist es sehr ruhig. Sehr freundliche Gastgeber, vielen Dank fĂŒr alles!
We could not have asked for a better experience for our week in Portugalâs Algarve. Rodrigoâs place is the perfect place to call home for those looking for the quiet, local experience of the Tavira area of the south. Located centrally in the small fishing town of Santa Luzia, this place was perfect as our "anchor" for us to explore the region.
We had many amazing traditional meals at the local restaurants just steps away from the apartment, and really enjoyed the indoor/outdoor kitchen and living space at the apartment on days that we wanted to stay and cook at home. The kitchen was well equipped and it was a true delight to use it! The apartment itself is a beautiful, modernized traditional space and was clearly recently renovated perfectly. The bedroom was quiet and cool and the bed was very comfortable.
We relied heavily on Rodrigoâs booklet of information and recommendations and we were very thankful to have that with us as we explored the area. One thing we would have loved to have was WiFi internet, because it was a bit difficult to make plans without good internet access. Otherwise, the amenities were wonderful.
We used the beach towels and umbrellas provided and explored many towns and beaches. Some of our favorites were the nearby town of Tavira, Cacela Velha beach where we found local clams to cook dinner with, and driving a bit further to Praia Marinha and Praia Dona Ana beaches where we could see spectacular views.
Overall, amazing experience and we definitely did not want to leave this little oasis! We canât wait to come back.
The Apartment That Has Everything -- Including the World's Most Gracious Host
My husband and I rented Rodrigo's beautiful apartment for a lovely, peaceful week in the Algarve, and had one of the most pleasant stays we've had anywhere in the world. The apartment is beautiful to be in, and so thoughtfully and artfully put together. It also has the hottest water I think we've had in anyplace, anywhere -- a luxury! The towels and linens were top-quality; the bed was firm; the kitchen a joy to prepare meals in. (We found a fish market and cooked at home a few nights.)
Then there is Rodrigo himself. He contacted me before our stay with his detailed, well-crafted guidebook, and was in touch throughout our week there with helpful, witty, and excellent suggestions for things to do. Do yourself a favor and listen to what he says -- he knows and loves his beautiful country and is a wonderful authority.
We would return in a heartbeat to this jewel of a place. It was spectacular.
New addition to a beautiful hundred year old traditional house with expansive outdoor spaces. Beautiful facade and thoughtful renovation with high end, traditional materials.
