Nice, quiet location that is off the beaten path. Enjoyed sitting at the table on the deck and taking in the beautiful scenery. The location is central to the Black Hills and many interesting sights.
We were able to go to all the surrounding areas to view the sights and hike around, then return here for a secluded, peaceful night sleep! It had everything we needed- listening to the river each morning while drinking coffee was my favorite! Thanks for a great family stay! My kids (7&9) loved the bunk beds and bridges!
The property was very clean & quiet. It was the perfect place to base our Side by Side adventures out of. Parking is very restricted though. Our Ford Ranger & 16 ft trailer BARELY made it across the bridge. Other than that our stay was amazing.
Beautiful property. Great location for all the Black Hills tourist destinations. Melissa responded quickly to messages. Would definitely recommend this property.
What a perfect place to stay. Just outside of town. Close to Mount Rushmore. Away from people. Nice rooms, beds and kitchen/living room. It is a bit dark at night so it is best to find in the daylight hours.
We loved the location of this property. Off the beaten path but close to many activities. My favorite thing was the live creek running through the property.
Great place for our family to come home to. Our kids were asking to have time just hanging out in the house. We especially loved opening the windows and listening to the creek run past. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Great location for us. 2 couples over 60 years of age.
Close to Hill City and Rapid City and Keystone.
The train and ATV rentals available in Hill City were fun and the restaurants were good. We enjoyed the house.
This perfect location was a perfect escape! The house was well supplied with anything you may need including laundry supplies and dishes and cooking supplies for the kitchen. It was a great home away from home and our kids were so happy they didn't notice there was no wi-fi! It was a successful family stay.
My two sisters and I stayed at this cozy cabin for a "sisters' weekend." We loved the secluded location, coziness, decor, space, and layout! We brought four-wheelers/quads and a dirt bike along and enjoyed the close proximity to riding trails, beautiful scenery, and wildlife of the Black Hills. The stream a short distance from the house was an added bonus! We would definitely stay here again!
This home was AMAZING. My son and I woke up early to explore the property ...loved the creek and bridges in the front yard. We saw deer across the street. Found dandelions. Such a nice experience and cabin.
Quite a find! Comfy, extremely clean and cozy cabin interior. Centrally located in the Black Hills close to most points of interest such as Mount Rushmore, Deadwood and Custer Park. Extremely pleasant and friendly owners. Highly recommended.
We loved everything about this house! Quiet, secluded, in the forest setting visited by chipmunks. There was even room to park my trailer. Yet only 3 miles from Hill City.
However, we were very disappointed with the WiFi/internet service. Early in the morning, it worked. About 8am each day it became unusable. With very weak cell signal in the area, this combination can be very frustrating.
I see areas in the Black Hills where they are plowing in new fiber optic lines. It canât come soon enough to this area!!
Property was everything we hoped for. Private, no close neighbors. We were lucky in the week we chose to go. Temperature was mid 70s during the day and 50s during the night.
Centrally located and easy drive to any attraction in the hills.
The house has everything you could possible need if you choose to either cook in or BBQ.
If i had to find fault in one thing it would be alot of ATV traffic on the road in front of the house, especially early in the morning. Must be and ATV trail near by.
All in all a great stay and definitely would stay there again when visiting the Hills..
This property was just as the owner described. Close to Hill City and all the sites, yet a very quiet and private location. Needles Hwy, Iron Mountain Rd, Mt. Rushmore and Sylvan Lake / Custer Park are all a short drive away. Spearfish Canyon is a little further (about an hour) but is a beautiful drive with a ton a wildlife and some cute waterfalls. This house is a wonderful setting with a pretty little creek running through the property that you can hear as you fall asleep in the upper bedroom. Owner kindly messaged us when she heard about a power outage in the area during a storm to see if all was well (it was). Roomy yet cozy house worked well for our family of four. Will definitely check into it again next time we are in this beautiful area.
A group of us came from Iowa for our friends 40th wedding anniversary and the house was perfect for us. We had 5 motorcycles and 1 car with us. The bikes fit perfectly under the car port and there was plenty of room for the car. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The deck area is perfect for gathering. The babbling brook is awesome, especially at night sleeping with the windows open. It is a great location if you are wanting to explore the Black Hills. One thing I would suggest is to make the house number sign larger. We can in after dark and it was very hard to find. Other than that it was perfect!!
Beautiful area, but a little let down with our stay
Location of the property was beautiful, loved the creek and feeling of being tucked into the mountains. Home seemed clean. One big thing that needs to be stated in the description is there is no AC, luckily we came when it wasnât too hot but the directions say to keep the house shut up and shades down to keep it cool. One fan in the dining room didnât work as well as a smoke detector hanging by its wires in the kitchen. Grass didnât look like it had been mowed in a month. And we ended up leaving a day early from our week stay because I got a message from the owner saying to limit septic use because it was about to overflow. We had 4 people staying there that needed to shower, use the bathroom, and do laundry. Also the WiFi does not work, EXTREMELY slow. I work from home so I brought my computer. I could not work.
First, owner said there is room to park a 16ft and truck...no way! Had to park the trailer in a storage lot for the weekend. Then at checkin finally got the lockbox to work, opened doors and it smelled terrible
musty. I figured i would turn the a/c on and get the air moving...NO AC! Tried to get the internet to work to msg owner, network wasnt even listed. Had to drive up the road to get internet, msg owner and response, "open the windows, it gets cool at night and internet is probably swamped with users." Told them we were not staying and Packed up and left, found a hotel. Worst VRBO experience ever in the 10 yrs of coming to Hill City!
My sister, her husband, my husband and myself, came up to the Black Hills as a get away because it is almost exactly between Thornton, CO and Souix Falls, SD. This cabin met all of our needs. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast, the beds were comfortable and clean. We LOVED sitting outside on the deck catching up and listening to the sounds of nature and the creek.
I would have given 5 stars for cleanliness, but the house has a musty order and now that weather has warmed up the windows need a good cleaning. (Some of the windows did not open, possibility because they need to be cleaned. )
We all agreed we would go back again! Melissa, the host is great!
The cabin was in a beautiful setting with a nice deck and lovely stream running through the property. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes and utensils. There were plenty of towels as well. The location is close to Hill City and about a 30 minute drive to most of the nearby parks and attractions. On the negative side, upon arrival something had fallen from the ceiling onto the bed in the downstairs bedroom. Thought it might be insulation, but this continued to happen throughout the stay and whatever the material was obviously contained insect debris. We moved the bed over as far as possible. When reported to the host, she said that was the first sheâd heard of it and was probably a leak caused by recent heavy rains. Also, we never got the satellite TV to work. The host gave some tips to tryâŠtold her we had already tried them. One of our party had experience in cable TV and tested everything she suggested and then some. Also, we did not realize when booking that this property has NO air conditioning whatsoever. If having television or AC is important to you this may not be the property for you. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
We stayed at this home with some good friends who had never experienced the Black Hills. The home was so peaceful, spacious, and comfortable. It exceeded our expectations and couldn't have been more perfect for our get away. We had some rain showers while we were there and with the stream, aspens, and lush vegetation we felt like we were in a rain forest. It's not fancy but it's not crude. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable place to call home at the end of every day. Would definitely stay there again.
We love riding motorcycles around the Black Hills and were looking for a home that we could stay in while riding, or visiting with our family then rent when we are not there. We found many homes but most were on gravel. This property is on a paved road that also gives us the peacefulness of the Black Hills. The creek in the front yard was the deal maker for us. We enjoy our time just the two of us and also when we bring our 4 grown children to visit. Come visit God's country.
