This was perfect for us. Very quiet and private, away from the city but a collar drive to everything. Watching the tide go in and out was fascinating. We fished and tried our the rowboat at high tide and it was so beautiful and fun. They let us know what the northern lights were out so we got pictures of aurora, even just from the bedroom window. Overall great stay. We would love to go back!
This rental has everything you need for your stay in Juneau. The host provides everything imaginable. The location is great! This is a quiet alternative to busy downtown. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in Juneau.
Simple apartment style housing attached to main house but with a separate entry. Wonderful view of Gastineau Channel with lots of eagles, raven, and shorebirds seen daily. Out of town made for a very quiet and peaceful stay. Lovely owners were very friendly and informative when we made contact. Would absolutely stay here again.
We were in Juneau 4 days and loved every minute! The view we had from the window overlooking the channel was beautiful, we loved seeing the tide changes and watching the eagles. It was very quiet, we slept great! Highly recommend staying there, and hope we will be able to stay here again.
As previously reported, the views are spectacular. Visitors should note the highway out front has a bicycle path, also making it safe for walkers and joggers. Apartment is as pictured and super clean.
The apartment looks over the water which greeted us every morning with the sounds of various birds singing. The place was immaculate and stocked with everything we needed. We had to contact the owners due to a beeping from the fire alarm, they quickly replaced the battery, and then contacted us to make sure everything was satisfactory. I would stay here again.
We enjoyed the lovely view of the tides coming in and out, the bald eagles and other birds on the water. Our daughter loved staying in the loft (fold-up ladder to climb up to it). Everything was clean and the host communicated well.
Gorgeous View...peaceful and comfortable stay! The location is quiet and the owner is available on site if needed. For very elderly or disabled customers it might be a difficult climb up the back steps. For others it is easy access if you don't mind hauling your luggage up a fairly long set of steps. Once you arrive it is well worth it and the bed is very comfortable.
We stayed here for a week. The apartment was very clean, had all the basics we needed. A lovely view, and was a short drive into downtown Juneau. If we ever have the opportunity to visit Juneau again, we would definitely consider staying here again.
Great location out of town, but still close. You can see more eagles out the living room window than at eagle beach. Close to the dipac hatchery which was cool to visit. And lots of awesome trails near by. Owners were frendly. We would definately stay here again.
This second floor apartment has everything you need. It has a comfortable bed, a beautiful view and wonderful property managers. The kitchen ballast went out and a time was scheduled immediately to get it fixed! I highly recommend this place if you are coming to Juneau.
Great views, quiet location, even better than described
We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Merigwenâs accessory apartment. The views across the channel were so lovely and relaxing. We enjoyed watching the eagles and shorebirds fish in the tide flats from our livingroom window.
The place was even more spacious than we imagined, especially with the bonus attic. My teens LOVED having that level as their own private refuge! The full kitchen made it easy for us to cook our own meals, sparing us from having to deal with the constant onslaught of cruise ship passengers downtown.
We rented a car, which is an absolute necessity for staying so far out the road on Douglas Island. The payoff is that this area is not touristy at all. Youâre living among the locals. We really enjoyed that part of it - it feels like the real deal. Thanks for a comfortable stay!
Very grateful and satisfied with my stay here. Scenic location. The host responded quickly to things and thought of everything. Even bear spray! Which we are grateful to not have used ;).
I highly recommend staying here. You can hear the eagles and see across the waters.
The studio was clean and cozy. The hot water was awesome and the view was impressive. Our granddaughter loved the upstairs room! Her own little nest.
The stairs were a little problematic given we had luggage and carrying up our groceries. We're not in our twenties anymore, but fortunately, we can get around well given our age. Over all we were very satisfied.
My husband came to Juneau as a foreign exchange student from Japan at the age of sixteen. He was the momentary envy of his classmates when during a school assembly it was announced that the country he would be going to was AMERICA. Envy turned to laughter when the state was announced. He wouldn't be going to California or New York but ALASKA. The perceived notion and disappointment of being sent to a frozen wasteland ended when his airplane landed and his love of fishing began. After marrying and living in Japan for several years, we decided to return to Juneau to be closer to family and fishing. My husband is a business consultant. I'm a former teacher who now works seasonally for the Alaska State Legislature. We have three children and a large cat named Skippy.
When looking for a place to build our home we both wanted to have a view of something. This location offered not only a view of water and mountains but the Lemon Glacier, as well as beach front. In the summer we see a lot of rainbows and in winter the Northern Lights. Canadian geese and swans stop by as they migrate. Ducks and Bald Eagles are always about. On occasion bear, porcupine and deer wander through the yard.
In addition to being in a quite location and having a beautiful view, fishing is only minutes away. King salmon fishing can be done off of the rocks at False Outer Point or in the stream at Fish Creek. Starting about mid-August Silver salmon can be caught right outside the front door and then grilled. A small boat is available if you care to row about during high tide. Hiking and the Alpine Zipline are available at nearby Eagle Crest, Juneau's winter time downhill and cross country ski resort. Or do a short hike on Outer Point Loop Trail or Rainforest trail. A twelve minute car ride to the south of Douglas Island puts you at Sandy Beach and the trails that wind through the ruins of the Treadwell gold mine. Or cross the Juneau-Douglas bridge and be in downtown Juneau in 10 minutes to shop, eat, visit museums, historic sites, ride the tram or hike Perseverance and the Mount Roberts Trails. The Mendenhall Glacier is about a 20 minute drive, as is Auke Bay.
