Loved this place and cant wait to rent it again here soon
If your looking for something in the middle of no where and Gorgeous views than this is your place. Me and my husband came back so relax and we didnt want to leave but had to get back to the kids and back to work. Loved meeting the owner.
The cabin was extremely well-equipped with everything we could possibly need. I loved that it was private and secluded from town yet close enough to make a quick trip. Everything was clean and very well-maintained. The owner was so kind to come over and take us to go see her horses and donkeys. We will be coming back for sure!
What a wonderful weekend retreat in Llano, TX! Kristieâs cabin is quaint, quiet and surrounded by the big Texas sky and a gorgeous wildflower landscape! The grazing donkey and cattle only add to the charm! I enjoyed beautiful sunsets, a local festival, great shopping and delicious Texas wine! Even the thunderstorms put on a great show at night!!! Loved EVERYTHING about the cabin and the location! Already planning a trip back and a longer stay! Thank you so much!!!!
The property was very private and secluded. It had beautiful views all around and truly amazing views of the stars. The cabin over all was great. Everything you need was there just bring your food. The only issue that we had was the mattress could have been a little firmer or maybe just some box springs added. I only say that because I have had back surgery and need something a little. There was a welcoming committee of five donkeys when we arrived and they were also there to tell us by when we left. Overall our stay was great and would definitely stay there again.
Ranch Retreat: Texas Cabin Rental with Free-Roaming Livestock
I recently stayed with my wife at this cabin on a large ranch and it was the perfect getaway. The cabin itself was charming and comfortable, but the real highlight was the free-roaming donkeys, horses, and cows on the large property. It was so peaceful and serene to wake up to the sound of them grazing nearby. The ranch is also conveniently located just minutes from the town of Llano and 30 minutes from Fredericksburg, making it easy to explore the area. I also enjoyed the walking trails on the property, quiet getaway and pitch black night sky showing so many stars. I highly recommend this cabin rental for anyone looking for a peaceful and unique experience in the Texas Hill Country.
We chose Kristie's house because it was close enough to town but far enough out to see the beautiful dark sky! Just sitting out in the evenings and watching God's beauty was breathtaking for two people who live just outside St. Louis! Everything was perfect, including the pull-out couch, which I was a little unsure about until I slept on it; I had a great night sleep!! The cabin in the perfect size to relax and hang out or just use for home base. We went horseback riding in Burnet, exploring at Enchanted Rock, and visiting the Pacific War Museum in Fredericksburg. It was a wonderful three days!! I am a review reader, and you can be assured that this cabin will have everything you need and will be clean and comfortable!
Cutest little cabin off in the country. Quiet and relaxing. The most comfortable bed and the perfect porch for watching the deer and butterflies. Itâs a great place to recharge, slow down and reconnect!
We enjoyed the serenity of nature on the property and itâs surrounding areas. It is far enough away from the towns to feel at peace but close enough to drive and enjoy the area. I cannot recommend the cabin enough, especially if you are trying to go for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely return here when we are in the area again. Also we loved seeing the friendly miniature donkeys that roam the property.
The cabin had everything we needed to be comfortable, and beautiful views all around! We loved visiting with the horses and donkeys, and the quiet away from the city life. The drive to Enchanted Rock wasnât too far, and scenic the entire way. We plan on returning. Christy was welcoming!
We loved it with the big sky and peace and quiet. You can see
starts at night . I loved feeding the donkeys and interacting with
the horses. Would definitely recommend this property and hope
to come back.
We had a wonderful stay. The cabin itself has everything you need, super soft sheets, and a very comfy armchair for reading by the window. We met the donkeys (super friendly and sweet) and also Kristie's horses and dogs (oh, and Kristie herself, who was great!). The views are fantastic, and overall it's just a really relaxed, peaceful atmosphere to unwind from city living. We plan to be back!
Everything was perfect! I loved how remote this property was... it was nice to have quiet, beautiful skies, curious wildlife (we saw a fox, lots of deer even a buck, and the friendly neighbor horses and donkeys). The cozy cabin felt like a cozy home. Everything was absolutely perfect.
The title says it all... We chose this place because of the donkeys, and it was great. Waking up to deer in the field and enjoying the quiet.. My boyfriend (NOW FIANCĂ) proposed to me on the front porch, fell in love with this place, and will definitely be going back... We stayed for our anniversary and I could not have asked for a better place to stay... Thank you for sharing your little piece and quiet with us.
I live in Austin and have gone out to the Texas Hill Country many times over the years for little weekend getaways. Usually I stay in rentals that are in town and/or very close to a town's main square, but for this trip I really wanted more of a country experience and this rental was perfect for that. I saw some of the most amazing sunrises and sunsets from the cabin's porch and the stargazing at night was fantastic. Got to meet the owner, Christy, while I was there and she was great. I even got to feed the miniature donkeys on the property some apples I brought from home which was so fun. It was also the perfect location for going to Enchanted Rock for a hike which I did while I was there.
Just what the doctor ordered if you want to get away from it all for a few days (the Wi-Fi worked fine for staying in contact, though I made no attempts to stream). Located in the midde of a large farm with farm animals (cows, horses, and a donkey that I saw), the guest house is approximately 150 yards from the main house, so there is plenty of privacy. Ideal for 1-2 persons, with all the basic supplies. Enchanted Rock is visible app. 9 miles south of the cabin, though it is about a 30 mile drive. Dark nights for star gazing. Recommended!
One caveat I would offer is that if you are a very large person the bathroom (toilet area and shower) may not be ideal. Also, recommend adding a dish drying rack. I managed to drop and break a salad plate while attempting to hand dry it. Apologies.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hickory Hideaway. We booked our stay with two goals - a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle, and dark skies away from the city lights so we could do some astrophotography. The cabin delivered on both counts.
It was nice to wake up to the, sit on the poach and enjoy watching the cattle, horses, a donkey and even a friendly cat.
We planned our stay to correspond with the new moon so the skies were star-filled and we got some great pictures.
If youâre looking to get away and do something a little different for a few days this is the place.
We loved this cabin! It was quiet, relaxing and a perfect getaway from the city! Loved seeing all the animals daily, beautiful sunsets and night sky!! Kristie was awesome and answered questions quickly when needed!! We would definitely come back!!!
This was a perfect stay for a night of peace and quiet away from the DFW area. The animals that grazed around the property were the highlight of our stay!
I was born and raised in Llano, but after college and marriage was blessed to live in many different areas of the US. My husband and I have just recently moved back to the Hill Country, and are greatly enjoying being back home complete with the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
This cabin was purchased to use as a "run away" place to get away from it all. It's nestled in a group of oak trees. It's quiet, it is surrounded by nature's beauty in every direction.
The well appointed kitchen is ready for your culinary endeavors should you choose to cook. Other amenities include all linens, shower (no tub), satellite TV, window unit, wall heater and small grill for outdoor cooking. This is the perfect hideaway.
Looking for a peaceful retreat? Birds and deer know that Hickory Ridge Hideaway is the place. Awesome sunsets can be viewed from the covered front porch as well as a great view of Bullhead Mountain.. Not only does Hickory Ridge offer the tranquility of country living but provides all the comforts of home.
