The host sent a message saying that she would send the check-in information the weekend before. About an hour out from our arrival (after 9 pm) we had not received the information and messaged her.
She messaged back with a very long list of rules that mentioned how clean they keep the cabin and fees for leaving it dirty, so I was expecting a clean cabin.
There were no lights on when we arrived, and we had to find our way in the dark. Upon opening the door, we were hit with a strong smell of animal urine throughout the cabin.
The dining room table and floor were covered in something sticky and filthy. A dead bug was in the middle of the table, and our shoes and bags stuck to the table and floor.
The basement furniture was ripped, torn, and dirty. The lights were missing the covers, and it also smelled down there.
The living room couch was covered in a cheap cover to hide the dirt, and the chair was filthy. All of the furniture looks like it was picked up and used from a dump.
The upstairs carpet was covered in dark stains and smelled. There was thick mold in the shower.
The stairs and bottom of the dishwasher were black from filth.
There is no AC, which was expected, but we could only open one window because they were all either nailed shut, missing screens, or too full of dead bugs and dirt to open.
The host said she said she would call the cleaners and instructed me to also. This was not my responsibility. We checked out early & rented another cabin.
