Unfortunately this guest did not read the description correctly before he arrived and this therefore affected his expectations of the property. The hot tub is described as being Scandinavian Wood Fired without jacuzzi jets and this is exactly what it is. Our description also clearly sets out how the pricing of the hot tub works. This guest used his spare bag of logs we supply for the hot tub for the indoor log burner and then stated that we had not provided him with enough - which is simply not true. If guests wish to have logs for the inside log burner then these must be pre ordered or we always point out they are welcome to bring their own and unfortunately this guest did neither.

These guests clearly read non of the information sent out to them prior to arrival or during their stay. They arrived early which was not a problem. I simply asked that they wait for a moment while I checked the property to make sure everything was ready before they were allowed in. They hadn't brought signed terms with them as requested and so these were provided and collected from them to save them the bother. Allowed in early, everything brought to them equals good service in my opinion. The Lodge is located within 45 acres of private gardens, grounds and woodland accessed via a private road 3/4 mile long. The nearest property to Rowan Tree Lodge is approx 20 metres away. Some guests prefer not to be totally isolated. If these guest wanted complete isolation then they could have selected one of our other properties that could have provided this. I would also suggest that guests view the images supplied before making their selection. We supply guests with three telephone number to call. On the only occasion that these guests followed the instructions provided for communications they received an immediate response. I cannot imagine why they thought it appropriate to use whatsapp as a means to communicate with an owner on a large rural site when they had access to us on a personal basis and direct numbers that they could have called. Our hot tubs are of the scandanavian type, wood fired and kind to the environment. We use fresh water not chemically treated with chlorine. We do use environmentally friendly water sanitiser tablets. Guests are advised to shower before entering as body lotions, suntan cream etc can make the water murky if this advice is not followed. Guests can change the water whenever they choose which is easy to do with a drain tap clearly visible and a hose right next to the tub. All information including safety information was supplied to these guest which they signed a copy of. In addition instructions are provided inside the lodge and on a metal plaque next to the tub. The steps provided are the same ones used on this type of tub all over the UK and around the world. We have five hot tubs here and never had an issue with any of them. There are no rails as the tub is located on firm level surface only 2 steps high. Common sense should dictate that rails would prevent you from swinging your leg over to get into the tub and in any case the top of the tub is there to hold onto just like getting into a bath. Most concerning is that this guest preferred to have her partner video her struggling to get into the tub rather than have him assist her and despite her struggles preferred to continue to use it for the duration of the stay every day saying nothing about any accidents either during the stay or on departure. Guests with mobility issues however caused should think carefully before using the hot tubs. The lodge is surrounded by beautiful gardens and private land. It is very private but obviously requires maintaining. The countryside is not a mausoleum. Everything requires work to keep it looking beautiful so you are always going to hear grass cutting, farm machinery etc on occasions. These are the sounds of the countryside. The Lodge received near complete refurbishment during the last lock down. I would suggest guests review the photos which are current and read the latest review on this property left by the guests who arrived and stayed in it on the day these guests departed.
