We loved staying in this beautiful house! Itâs very spacious, well equipped, nicely decorated and the outdoor area gives you an instant holiday feeling. We have some great family memories to look back on!
Villa was very modern, all amenities in place. Great terraces and lovely pool. Nice quiet area of the Algarve but close enough to local restaurants etc.
Great communication with the owners and Alison who looks after the villa.
Definitely be staying again đ
The property was as advertised and support from Anne was great. The neighborhood was a bit noisy but otherwise fine. The restaurant down the street, Rui's, was the best meal we had in Portugal.
Lovely villa, pool, surrounding area, amazing views, very homely and comfortable just a shame of the close proximity of the neighboring villa, as we love seclusion but had a fabulous 19 days.
the house and location were superb, very comfy property, lovely views, well equipped, good AC if needed, you will not go wrong if you rent Annes house, it was easy to get to Faro and many nearby things to do - buggy ride into the hills, off road, quad biking, off road, teens could also drive, karting, great restaurant's with in 15 minutes drive or less at the lcoa town, great holiday
Lovely villa with one of the best layouts of all the villas we have been in over the 25 years of coming to the Algarve. The pool was positioned perfectly for the sun all day and the pool heating enabled us to use the pool everyday of our holiday. The area has some amazing restaurants and Quinta da Tor winery is well worth a visit for the tour tasting and tapas.
As cat lovers it was a pleasure having Mia visit most days.
We love the Villa, really spacious rooms.
Wonderfull terrace and great swimming pool.
Love the high ceilings, good Wi-Fi and plenty of space to play with children.
The boys loved the pool.
And we loved the time that we spend in the Villa.
To repeat.
Thanks you
Beautiful property with a wonderful view!
The villa was spotless and Very well appointed.Alison showed us around initially and was very helpful.
The outside space was also very clean and well kept. The pool was a delight on a hot day.
It was lovely to walk down the lane of an evening for dinner at Ruiâs.We highly recommend.
We really enjoyed the pool and the villa felt immediately comfortable. Lots of utensils, storage, drying facilities and the like made for a very relaxing stay. The villa was spotless and we found the bbq to be one of the best we've used on holiday!
We all slept well (in the comfortable beds) and found the area to be a great location to explore the eastern end of the Algarve.
Highlights for us were Tavira - such a beautiful and historical town with great shops and eating places - and driving out into the hills above visiting towns such as Salir and Alte.
Overall we've had a wonderful holiday and we would love to return at some point!
Muito obrigado!
PS - our restaurant recommendation is Sal da Serra - 5 minutes down the road from the villa. Spicy food from Mozambique along with delicious traditional Portuguese dishes. We absolutely loved it!
We had a great stay at Casa de Pedra Furada. The pool was great - we opted for the heating which was a winning decision for the kids especially. We are mainly at the villa, which was made so easy, as it was very well equipped. Made use of the terrace and BBQ and enjoyed the views at breakfast and dinner. The great TV options came in handy as we had a day of weather warnings. Beds were comfy, clean and the area is super quiet, so lovely nights sleep all round. The space looks so much smaller in the photos - itâs a fabulous airy space, with high ceilings. We had a hire car, which I think would be essential. We didnât drive for more than an hour (one way) and experienced diverse beaches, water parks, lakes and historic picturesque towns. A great base and a fabulous place for families. Thank you.
We loved it. All of if - the house, the place, the surroundings and the time we spent there. Check in was smooth and easy (little remark to Anne - precise address or map coordinates of the property instead of description of the directions toward the villa would make it much easier to find the property, but once the manager Alison was contacted, it was all solved). Everybody was screaming happy to find out that each of the bedrooms has its own bathroom, excellent! The layout of the house makes it feel light and spacious, laundry room with washing machine was a very welcome plus, not to mention a separate outside space within a house for drying the laundry!
Sure thing the place children could be found most of the time was swimming pool, but the role I was dealt was playing water tennis with our youngest, good to find swimming things as well at the pool!
Outside sitting area has fantastic view, just be aware that the evening winds might make you go inside earlier than you would have wished. But anyway, gazing at the stars above from the outside space are undeniably fabulous wind or not.
Having read about the dogs bothering good night sleep, I have to mention that we didnât hear a single dog barking during the night. Maybe they were just told not to bark anymore :)
Two full rows of books in English made me and our eldest daughter happily find the one and only read at the pool - each of us managed to read a book while there. TV and cartoons were consumed by our youngest prior going to sleep.
And last, but not least - all communication and attitude of Anne and Alison was also very smooth, it was pleasure to know that in case we need, they were always there to answer.
We would be happy to be back some day, thank you!
WONDERFUL! Should be 5 stars really but read below.
Property was stunning and a home from home. Beautiful location, wonderful restaurant and bar locally in a rural village. IMHO the best steaks we have ever had in the Algarve. We have eaten steaks in the Algarve and usually they are quite poor. Rui does not serve the usual tough flat leather with an egg on top!! We have eaten out in the central Alentejo, Beja, Castro Verde, Mertola, Alcoutim, Sagres, Tavira, (Olhao really don't bother!) and many more over the years.
BACK TO THE PROPERTY AND LOCAL SURROUNDINGS. Amazing English TV channels not that we are interested but it suited our 85 year old father who can not do without it. Close to Loule and Sao Bras De Alportel. There is amazing wildlife in the garden and nearby valleys great for photography. Golden oriels in the garden! Lovely bedrooms and en-suites. Valleys and hills with awesome landscapes rivers and walks. We had the pool heated as May is never warm enough for a swim.
Our two major gripes are......1.You only get one key to the back and front doors which can blow shut and lock you out. The owners suggest you leave one key in the key safe so that only leaves you with only one key to work with. Getting the keys in and out of the safe is a bind. It is so small that the keys jam in the box due to nowhere to hang the keys. Fiddly! It is no good for different family members to go off as you really do need two sets. First prestigious and high priced villa we have stayed in without two sets!
2. You are warned that one of the entrance gates "is a little stiff"? It took two of us to open and close it so we gave up and just left them open.
We would definately go back to this villa again but sadly it has missed out on 5 stars which it so deserves because of the keys and the gate. Nick, Ann, Mike
Itâs an 'away from the hustle/bustle' villa in a quiet rural setting. If that's the holiday you're after then this will suit the bill. Rooms are large, aircon efficient and needed! Only thing disturbing the peace was the kennels (maybe a vet's compound?) down by the local cafe/restaurant area (Rui's Steakhouse?) Come feeding time those dogs kicked up a fair racket! Far enough away really, but we can't claim it was pure undisturbed bliss the whole time
Pool was nice - there's a pretty steep slope change from 'shallow end' to 'deep end' so it's one to watch out for if you have kids
Generally went into Loule for shopping and eating out (Continente on the outskirts is a large hypermarket with free underground car park - nice and cool when you get back to the car to load up) Had a couple of BBQs at the villa so weren't out every night (definitely need kitchen foil if you're cooking on it as the grills are badly rusted - unavoidable with an outdoor facility unless all guests look after the items)
Quarteira is nearby on the coast if you like admiring rich people's toys in the marina. It's a more lively place with a good WaterPark
All in all a good villa for a holiday
My ONLY gripe (and I realise with this type of review I don't get to respond to any comment from the owner (Anne and Stuart)) is that on (literally) the very last minutes of the holiday I had a very heated argument with the villa manager (Alison) which left a bad taste â the reason for 1 Star against 'Communication with the property manager' (Alison)
Yes she'd contacted us asking us to be out for 10am on our last day (yep, I read it.. ok we'll be out by then, despite the fact that the Vrbo Booking showed and still shows 11am Check Out). Apparently she phoned me a day or so before our check out as well (came up as an 'unknown number while I was at a noisy restaurant in the evening so I didn't answer) She also WhatsApp'd me on the morning of our departure around about 9am. I'm not a teenager. I don't have my nose permanently pressed on the screen of my mobile phone. I was cleaning the villa before leaving (thorough clean we gave it too - that's what happens when you take a couple of 80yr olds with you on holiday as my mother-in-law would be mortified if the cleaners had to clean) Alison stormed into the villa at 9:45! To say she had a problem with us still being there would be an understatement! Argument ensued. She needs to work on her people skills! Gone by 10 anyway. Will not be back
Wonderful Holiday in very pleasant Villa with beautiful views
Having stayed in a number of Villas in the Sao Bras area over the past 20 years this was one of the most pleasant.
On arrival access to the Villa was as per the instructions and everything was pleasing on the eye. All facilities within the Villa were top class and the Villa very spacious; pool was visited twice during our stay which was reassuring. The Villa was visited once by the Cleaner, a very pleasant young lady, who did a thorough job. We had an issue with the wind on a couple of nights and consequently we laid the Parasols on the ground during that period.
All in all a very enjoyable stay.
Spent a week with our son , his wife and our 18 month old grandson . The villa was perfect to accommodate us all - the 3 bedrooms were spacious , air conditioned and each with an en suite. The swimming pool was a good size . The villa had stunning views with a great outdoor seating space . Communication with the owner was great . I would recommend Ruiz steakhouse which is a comfortable 5 minute walk from the villa .We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay . Thankyou
