Brilliant week - the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Lakes
We had an amazing week at Ullswater Cabin. The cabin itself was perfect for a week for a family of 4 with children aged 7 and 10. They loved the table tennis and pool facilities. The location of the cabin is great both on the site itself and within the lakes. We didnât need to drive for more than 20 minutes to go anywhere (we could have if we wanted to but didnât need to) and fitted so much into one week. Would definitely recommend.
The property was very cosy and quite serene. There's plenty of activities in the surrounding area and lovely walks straight from the door of the cabin. Overall brilliant place to stay.
Thank you!
We have returned to Ullswater Cabin for a second consecutive year now, and the Cabin once again did not disappoint. Very clean, and simply beautiful, with the most peaceful location. There was very good organisation and contact from the hosts John and Allison, and we certainly hope to return again next year.
Very nice cabin in an excellent location with great scenery and walks right on your doorstep. Only downside was that the pool hall was closed for maintenance.
The cabin was in a gorgeous area, on a park although you wouldnât know you had neighbours. Everything you need for a base to visit the lakes is provided for you. We will definitely retuen
What a lovely cottage and good value for money. We comfortably stayed with our family of four. Communication with owner was straightforward and swift. Lots of Langdale excursions just on your doorstep!
Really enjoyed our week in Ullswater cabin. It was in a lovely, quiet location but within easy reach of towns, walks pubs etc.. The cabin contained everything we could need and was comfy and cosy with a peaceful outside decking and gravelled garden area.
We loved our stay at Ullswater Cabin. The pictures really donât do it justice. It was very clean and in lovely condition. The bathroom is modern with a great walk in shower. The real winner though is the secluded location - the cabin is so private and peaceful (one of the best spots on the site). Thereâs a brilliant walk from the site to Loughrigg Tarn where we swam in the lake. Itâs also an easy 10 min drive from Ambleside where thereâs lots to do.
The communication from John was great. We loved the leaflet sent in advance. The kids liked looking at the pictures.
The cabin is well equipped with everything you need and the kids loved trying out all the board games.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
We enjoyed our week in the cabin despite the weather being stuck in monsoon season. The cabin has everything needed to enjoy your time. There was very clear rubbish disposal instructions and everything was smooth running. I did find the lack of bedding a slight nuisance as to bring enough to fit out three beds took up half a suitcase. We had good tv reception but no phone or Wi-Fi. Had to drive down road in order to fill out important online travel forms from a local pubs Wi-Fi. It's ok not to have it until you need it! At least you know before you go so its fair enough. The owner kindly posts some info beforehand with helpful hints and the key lockbox is a godsend. We arrived later than planned in the dark but due to accurate instructions and a nice name sign outside the cabin we found it no problem.
There is a decent car space outside. Access road is narrow but that's the price to be paid for the unique seclusion on offer. Outside area was very well kept and a generous size but unfortunately due to constant downpours it was unusable. I would recommend this accommodation for a nice cabin experience but I personally would visit when weather is better in the summer. Good value too ..compared to others I researched in Lake District .
We loved our stay at the cabin. It was really well equipped, clean and comfortable and the location of the cabin (in our opinion) is one of the best on the park. My son loved the swimming pool and it was great to be able to explore all the local footpaths in the evenings. It was quite therapeutic listening to rain on the cabin in the early mornings and thankfully we were treated with lots of sunny weather during the days to explore the Lake District - a perfect blend!
Lovely clean cabin. Well equipped. Very peaceful surrounded by trees and nice to hear sound of the nearby stream. Children enjoyed the onsite pool and ping pong table. Good for walks and activities around Windermere. Would like to return.
We had a lovely week at this property with our two boys 8 and 4. It was well equipped with an excellent shower! The owner John was very helpful prior to the visit and even posted us some information. It's a great base to explore the Lakes - lots of walks from the cabin including around Loughrigg Tarn and up Loughrigg hill. Even our smallest covered 30+ miles on foot and bikes over the week! It is a very peaceful location. Thank you for our stay!
We had a wonderful time in this beautifully kept lodge. Our only diss appointment was the pool and games room were closed, apparently due to ongoing COVID issues, but we werenât made aware of this prior to arrival. It was great swimming in the tarn and ultimately we would have been happy to stay there without those facilities, but had disappointed kids to discover they werenât available as described in blurb. Heads up notice would have been helpful.
We have stayed here in the past and the cabin is lovely, comfortable and in a beautiful and convenient location.
Unfortunately, this time we had to cancel last minute due to health problems. However, John has been extremely helpful and responsive in letting us know whether there are any other available dates later in the year. We hope to stay another time.
Great cabin. Feel like you're in the middle of nowhere - really quiet. However, right in the centre of loads of great places. Excellent location and just right for our needs. Lots of walks directly from the location. We will look to return. Note if travelling soon after this review the pool and games area is not currently open. If this is important to you check before you go.
Enjoyed the fact that the cabin is very secluded and quiet. However, we booked this cabin under the impression their was a hot tub. Naturally we assumed this would be a private hot tub but that's not the case. It's a public hot tub that is situated near the swimming pool which wouldn't have been so bad but there is no access allowed due to the current situation. The beds are very small doubles and even though the pillows are comfortable, the bed very much isn't. I think usually these little niggles wouldn't bother me on a normal holiday but given that this was meant to be our honeymoon it just left us feeling a little disappointed. Overall if we were to be asked if we would come back, we would probably say no.
Stayed here with my partner all the way from the USA. The host was friendly and easy to communicate with before/during/after the stay. Property was spotless, location was perfect, we couldn't have asked for a better base to explore the Lakes from
The Cabin was great for our needs; 2 good sized bedrooms were more than enough for the 5 of us.
The kids loved the pool area; not too deep but long enough for a slash about.
Loved the secluded but not so secluded location.
Now retired after 50 years in woodworking, 43 years running my own cabinetmaking business, Alison my wife and I bought the cabin from new over 30 years ago and have enjoyed many family holidays here from teaching our two boys how to swim in tha Pool Hall to them taking there wives and children for holidays there.
Our Cabin is situated in the centre of one of England's finest National Parks with outstanding scenery of lakes and mountains, perfect for walking holidays whether for a relaxing time or family adventures are needed.
