Hi Tom, thanks for your review. The parking can be difficult with large cars and yes the door opens directly onto the road but having parked cars there actually prevents passing traffic right outside the door. It is an ancient town with not all streets having pavements. All this is documented on our website. When you book using VRBO they acknowledge your booking and your payment, as was pointed out to you in our communication. It is unfortunate if they did not do this on this occasion, and we were only made aware of it when you contacted us later. As owners we send out cottage information nearer your time of stay along with access code. This avoids us giving out details which may change up to that point. The decor is down to personal taste, we keep it mainly white in order to keep it bright and fresh, however I don’t agree that the furniture is basic. We have invested heavily in quality products especially in the bedrooms and bathroom and I think other guests comments show that. This summer, the cottage was refreshed, repainted and the routine annual maintenance including safety aspects were all completed. You are welcome to stay anytime, call and we can discuss future bookings directly. We want all our guests to be happy.

Thanks for your review Nick, it's always good to hear what guests have to say about their experience. A few guests have raised the point about water on the bathroom floor due to lack of curtain, however, there is no need for concern as the floor is sealed. The amount of water is minimal and soon evaporates with the help of the heat recovery system. The tiles are non-slip and the bath mats keep it comfy underfoot. To install curtains or a door would impact on asthetics and reduce the size of luxury bath since it is curved. Most guests do so love the bathroom as it is and prefer the openess. We have tried lamps in the living room. Due to space they became either extra clutter or get knocked over. In the future we may install a wall mounted reading lamp with dimmer. Using only the alcove lighting provides subdued lighting but enough to read by. We use LED throughout the property and yes, they are bright, but they help keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.
