Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It took a few days to settle in and adjust to how the house functioned. Once we got comfortable in the house Jekyll Realty took care of any problems we encountered in a timely manner.

October 2024 Stay

I wish I could say we had a wonderful week in Jekyll; however, we had to have our dog put down the second day here. Should anyone find themselves in need of a compassionate vet please contact Cheek to Cheek in Brunswick. After calling a couple of others vets Dr Fry was able to assist. The office could not have been more professional or kind. As far as Pelican House, this is our second stay and it feels like home. The only thing I would add is a pizza cutter. The house is big and the furniture comfy. Jekyll Realty is a great company and always in contact.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house did have dead bugs inside when we arrived. The backyard unfortunately was mosquito heaven so could not go out there. We do greatly appreciate the windows having screens since the power was off due to the hurricane.

Always Enjoy This Home!

The home was cleaner this trip and also had new sofas which we really appreciate. maybe the owner will consider new area rugs as well. The location is perfect for us. The home is one of few on the island that allows pets. This is very much appreciated. We will rent again!

Reviewer Comments: Great Local,nice 1960's home has good bones, but....if owner would just use some bleach and disinfectant this place would be a destination worthy of the rental price! Yard was great, the crew came on Thursday with blowers that explained the extreme dust all over the house and windows! They should've brought tha pressure washers! Please clean up this gem or lower the price? I could even give ye a deal on a proper cleaning for a stay-cation?!

My favorite property on the island

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve stayed at the Pelican House before which is why we wanted to stay here again. We love the location and the feel of the neighborhood. Since our last visit, the home appears to have had a thorough cleaning. There is new furniture in the family room. The kitchen is very well-equipped. We truly appreciate the fenced in back yard for our dogs. Overall, a warm, comfortable home! We shared one of the most sensational sunsets I’ve ever seen while at The Wharf restaurant while there, and the restaurant had live music both nights that we there-outside seating. We appreciate how clean the whole island is, especially the beaches. We must also acknowledge the staff at Jekyll Realty who have been exceptional every time we’ve stayed on Jekyll. Friendly, professional, very attentive and responsive to our needs-thank you! Highly recommend!

Loved the house, the location, Back Yard All the artwork especially outside. Everything about Jekyll Island. House does not seem to be loved. Walk in looks great but obviously has not been deep cleaned in a long time. Needs to be pressure washed outside. Doors Windows etc

Best visit to Jekyll so far!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is so cute and huge! We ended up shutting off half the house because we didn’t need it. We had 5 adults and dogs with us. I loved the windows and huge kitchen. Beds are comfy. Only issue, the outside area was messy with so many bugs, cobwebs, dead weeds, fallen branches everywhere. A hurricane/storm did just blow through a week before our arrival, I figure that is the reason. Quite a few dead palmetto bugs and big centipede looking bugs in plain sight when we got there and a few mornings after waking. I read that the place is exterminated monthly, so I guess that is why they were dead. We will definitely be back. It was nice to not worry about the dogs disturbing neighbors in a hotel. First time renting a house in Jekyll, now we are spoiled.

Home Away from Home

It was wonderful to see the new furniture and other things the owners did. We always enjoy our stay here. It feels like our home away from home.

July 2022 Stay

What a wonderful time! We had a group of 5 who stayed at the house. There was enough room to be near each other but also enough to space out. Perfect! Sitting outside in the back yard in the morning was our favorite time of the day. Thank you for sharing your house! I highly recommend staying here! Please note: the Keurig machine wasn't working properly. I don't know if it was user error or if it was broken. You might want to check on that. Also, we used the last of the propane in the grill.

October 2020 Stay

Wonderful location and we loved having two family rooms. The kitchen is very well stocked and has everything you need. The house needs to be deep cleaned! I’m not sure how often a cleaning crew comes in for deep cleaning, but this house needs it! Nice to have a laundry room, but it needs to be aired out. It smells like a pet was left inside and relieved itself.

The mattresses on the twin beds desperately need to be replaced. They are SO uncomfortable! It would be a very minor expense for the homeowner that would make a world of difference to the guests. Also, for some reason our trash was not picked up on the regular schedule. No idea what happened there.

Excellent House and Location for Exploring Jekyll Island!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at Pelican house. It was beyond spacious!!! It had two "living rooms, " two dining areas (one quite formal), 3 bedrooms and two baths. The kitchen was well stocked for utensils, but if you really depend on a specific fry pan or a sharp knife, it would be good to bring. However, I didn't, and we were fine. The location couldn't have been better!!! It was right in the middle of the island, close to the beach, just a couple blocks, and if biking, you can bike to the northern end and/or the southern ends easily without problem. We had two couples at a time during our stay. The twin bedroom was an extra. For a gathering point, the living room with the large ceiling to floor windows was our favorite. We ate all meals there. There is a table outside as well, but at the time we were there, the no-see-ums were NOT good. There were two TVs. One was in the formal living room and one in the "sunny" living room. The wall library was amazing. Don't worry about needing to get to your library before you come. You will have many great choices. They also have some basic games and puzzles. The house temperature was cool and consistent. We did miss ceiling fans, but we bought a small fan for our bedroom and it really helped. We biked everyday. There are so many places to go on Jekyll. Be adventurous! Explore. We return almost every year. The island never disappoints.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unfortunately, I would not recommend Pelican House until it has been updated, cleaned and sanitized. We were very unhappy with how dirty it was inside and outside. Furniture, blankets, bedspreads, bathrooms (mold) bath mats were filthy, toilets did not work properly. Dishes, glasswear and pans dirty and need to be replaced. We spent Sat. & Sun. washing clothes and cleaning. Not what we intended for our vacation.
